I’ve waited to post this review for a few days in order to process what happened and see if my feelings have changed or diffuse overtime. But, this experience was disheartening, disturbing people can be this disrespectful, and out right wrong.
Me and my boyfriend went to this location around 8:30 pm Sunday August 18th 2024. We approached the hostess and had a door dash order but wanted to get a drink at the bar before our order was ready. Before we even were able to finish our sentence the hostess said “follow me” as we walked behind her we realized she was leading us to the kitchen. Me and my boyfriend looked at each other confused. The hostess told us it must not be ready leading us back to the front as we were walking with her we explained again “Hey I don’t think you’re understanding we aren’t delivering door dash that it is our own order we are waiting for and would like to order a drink at the bar.” At this point the hostess tone was snippy and her response was “You can’t eat your to go order at the bar” in a condescending tone.
At this point I explained to her that was not our intention at all to eat our to go order at the bar, that she was not listening to what we were communicating which resulted in her being dismissive, and that it was EXTREMELY inappropriate to bring us back to the kitchen.
Her response to this was “Your boyfriend already said that honey. Okay, honey I heard you. You don’t have to repeat it.” In the most disrespectful and condescending tone. At this point I asked her not to refer to me as honey which is ridiculous to even request.
After this we still had food we were waiting for so we walked ourselves to the bar which is where we requested Chris manager (which we never do) but this interaction with the hostess was truly so disheartening and disturbing to treat someone like that. The bartender was kind while we waited for the manager which somewhat helped in the midst of chaos.
Chris the evening manager looked over it as he approached us and burnt out. He listened to what happened but looked so disinterested. He even said “door dashers go pick up the food in the kitchen.”
This situation was handled poorly. Since this situation was honestly so inappropriate I will be reaching out to another manager, sending a letter to corporate, and possibly alerting IDPH.
If they are allowing people who don’t work there into the back of the kitchen where they are plating food they are exposing the kitchen to various pathogens and diseases.
I’ve never had such an odd interaction in a restaurant and I truly hope the hostess reads this and corporate. Treat people with respect, listening is a crucial skill when communicating with others, be kind to others. You were not kind or respectful. Don’t assume we were delivering food based off our appearance. You are the face of the restaurant and help the flow of...
Read moreVery disappointing. We are frequent diners at Cheesecake Factory, Oakbrook IL and have been going to this locations since it opened and rewards members, but after tonight not sure we will go back, at least to this location. Something has changed here. We arrived at 6:45 pm, not busy at all, which was unusual for this location. We asked for patio seating and as always very pleasant area. Ordered fried zucchini strips which were good, but very thin, and not as many as they used to give you for this dish. The bread came out and that’s always good. It went downhill quickly after that. My husband ordered a steak, mashed potatoes. I ordered the Veggie Burger which for some unknown reason they changed to a melt. My husband’s food came out, no sign of mine, 12 minutes later my veggie burger melt arrived. My husband’s steak was rubbery, his mashed potatoes had three huge chunks of hard potatoes on skins. The veggie burger melt was the worse. They turned a great veggie burger sandwich into a horrible melt. The toast was very soggy, burger was just falling out all over the plate and the bread was so grainy you couldn’t eat it. I took two bites of one side and left a whole side uneaten. At this point you would have thought the waiter seeing all this uneaten food and hard to miss huge chunks of mashed potatoes on a plate he would have asked how everything was. Nope, nothing. I told my husband let’s just leave it and enjoy our dessert. As a reward member they send you an email for a free cheesecake on your birthday; mine was July 16. I showed the waiter the email but they charged us full price. I showed it to him again and he said he forgot and would take it off. Came back and said no rewards were there. I showed him the email again and then he came back and said he checked with a manager and it expires 10 days after received( I received it July 16). After we paid, I looked at the email again and it did expire, but on August 1, yesterday. Not that we need anything free, but you would have thought that when he asked the manager, as the waiter saw the July 16 email date, that at least 1/8 off but nothing. The only drink we had was a cup of coffee. The bill was $118.00 with tip for two people. Ridiculous price for the horrible food we had and the very small piece of cheesecake. Maybe this is why the restaurant was fairly empty, no wait, on a...
Read moreI walked in this Monday afternoon, to order a slice of the original cheesecake with strawberries 🍓 and I gave the cashier my phone number for rewards. As I was doing so, I was looking at the two female employees preparing slice orders, that’s when I saw the one employee to the left of the camera is pulled so the operation can see what I’m referring to. She was preparing a slice and had one glove on one off, regardless of her glove at this point because not once but twice she wiped her nose with her hands the upper part with no glove on that hand , now mind you anyone that is sick will know that, if you wipe your snot on anything especially handling food that your not gonna eat ,, a paying customer is, she wiped her nose once , then twice. Without a worry in the world. I told the cashier, can someone prepare my cheesecake and not her she just wiped her nose twice and is handling food in front of a customer to witness this as I sure did . The cashier then went to go get mine , in which she is handling cash/ credit card payments, so she should have washed her hands , put gloves and prepared my cheesecake. But she didn’t , so that’s two strikes of health code violations. So , before cashier going to grab mine without gloves or clean hands , she whispered to the other two girls , I didn’t want them making my order because I witnessed the one employee wipe her nose twice while preparing a customers cheese cake. That employee then turned around , looked at me and rolled her eyes. I as an adult will not stoop to that level and return the look or the rolling of the eyes, I will handle it professionally and post it so it will be known for other customers to be cautious of how your food is being handled here and how disrespectful this employee was, when she was caught doing something that can really get someone sick. So the employee that came back to give me my order , I asked her the employees name. I was given Natalia . She whispered it to me. Guess she was afraid to snitch on another employee. So at this location their handling cash, / or credit cards , pens that customers use and are handling our food without washing hands prior to, this was the cashier . Then my huge concern was Natalia , rolling her eyes, giving a dirty look and wiping her snot twice on her hand and continuing to prepare customers orders . Sanitation...
