Lazy Oak Bistreaux in Ocean Springs is hands down one of my favorite dining experiences on the Gulf Coast! Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking for delicious food, a laid-back atmosphere, and warm, welcoming service.
Atmosphere: The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a rustic yet modern decor that exudes Southern charm. The space feels cozy and intimate, making it perfect for a casual night out or a more special occasion. The outdoor seating under the shade of the majestic oak trees adds to the relaxing vibe, and the soft lighting makes it feel even more inviting in the evenings. It's the kind of place where you feel like you can linger, enjoying good food and even better company.
The Food: The menu at Lazy Oak Bistreaux is a perfect blend of classic Southern comfort food with a modern twist, and everything we tried was bursting with flavor! You can tell that each dish is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the presentation is spot-on.
We started with the Cajun Egg Rolls, which were a total game-changer! They were stuffed with a flavorful blend of andouille sausage, chicken, and cheese, all wrapped up and fried to crispy perfection. Paired with the spicy remoulade dipping sauce, it was the perfect appetizer to kick off our meal.
For the main course, I opted for the Shrimp and Grits, and wow – it was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the creamy, cheesy grits were absolutely divine. The addition of andouille sausage and a rich, flavorful sauce brought the whole dish together in the most delicious way.
My partner ordered the Blackened Redfish, and it was equally impressive. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned with a great balance of spices, and the accompanying roasted vegetables were cooked just right, adding a nice, healthy touch to the meal.
Cocktails & Drinks: The drink menu is another highlight of Lazy Oak. We decided to try a couple of their signature cocktails, and they did not disappoint! The Lazy Mule was a refreshing take on the classic Moscow Mule, and the Coastal Breeze, with its blend of tropical flavors, was the perfect accompaniment to a warm evening dining on the patio. They also offer a great selection of local craft beers and wines, which pairs perfectly with the diverse menu.
Service: The service at Lazy Oak is truly exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure you have a great dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, made excellent recommendations, and was always available without being overbearing. It’s clear that the team here takes pride in providing top-notch hospitality, which really elevates the overall experience.
Final Thoughts: Lazy Oak Bistreaux is a true gem in Ocean Springs! Whether you’re in the mood for comfort food with a twist or fresh seafood straight from the Gulf, this restaurant has something for everyone. The food is outstanding, the drinks are top-notch, and the service makes you feel right at home. Plus, the atmosphere – especially the outdoor seating – is the perfect blend of relaxed and refined.
I can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu! If you're looking for a spot that combines Southern charm with inventive dishes and excellent service, Lazy Oak Bistreaux is the place to be....
Read moreMy husband and I have dined here 4 times and our best experience was the first. After that, it seems they went down hill. Food is okay, service is decent but what stood out the most is the lack of professionalism from the bartender Joey. We received our drinks the same time our food came out but it was NOT because he was too busy from making other drink orders. He was too busy socializing... We looked over several times wondering where our drinks were just to see Joey leaned over the bar talking to one customer. When we ordered our second drink, same thing. Standing there just talking away when you can see two servers waiting at the end of the bar for drink orders (one of which is our server) and he can't be bothered to look over or do his job. We waited so long that we finished our food and cancelled our drink order. But that wasn't the only disappointing part. Their special that day was Duck Grits and the duck was great but the grits were so bland. No seasoning, no flavor. It was supposed to be cheese grits and maybe they forgot to put the cheese in? But I had to add salt and hot sauce just to eat some. I know I wasn't the only one that felt that way because the customer behind me was approached by the owner and asked how the Duck Grits were and the gentleman said the exact same thing I was thinking. Very bland and could use more flavor. Unfortunate because this restaurant has so much potential. ALSO incredibly overpriced. Spent $100 for brunch for just...
Read moreI went to Sunday brunch with friends. I’d been unwell that morning, so I ordered only a side salad, without onions or cheese. It is listed on the menu with the sides that are priced at $4.99. It came in a larger bowl than I’d expected, and I said to our waitress that it seemed big for a side salad. She said, “Yes, it’s a big bowl”. When I got the bill, I was charged for a regular salad, not a side salad. When I asked the waitress, she said there isn’t a side salad. I said that it was on the menu. She then said that those only come with an entree for an additional $2.99. I didn’t want to argue further, so I just paid the bill. I checked the menu later, and there is nothing on the menu that states the sides only come with an entree. My companions loved their meals, and I’ve heard excellent reviews of the food. The salad was artisan lettuces, a few slices of tomato and, though they were out of the dressing I ordered, they had a homemade Italian that was very flavorful. Still, the waitress became short with me, and seemed irritated at my questions. They were very busy, so it’s somewhat understandable that she was in a hurry. I gave her a good tip, since the salad came with the correct ingredients, and she was very busy. Still, I doubt I’ll...
