Stayed here for a few days, just recently checked out after a last minute trip planned 2 weeks in advance. Not our first although definitely our last. Our usual hotel that we love was unfortunately booked. My mother whimpered in tears when we went to breakfast at our usual hotel, due to the subpar continental breakfast at the Milestone! Lets start at check in… some creepy guy stared at me and my mother at 10 pm for about a whole minute before we were acknowledged and acquired our key. Was very rude and odd. Same man gave us our towels for the “heated pool” and by heated I mean freezing. Staff claims it is heated by the sun. If that doesn’t tell you something I don’t know what will. Jacuzzi was full of green slime and closed because of short staff. Now let’s move on to the room. Well actually everything was going downhill before we even made it to the room. The railing was so cheap and poorly installed that my mother almost fell on the way up. If you’re someone who needs a railing to go up stairs… good luck. This could’ve ended very bad possibly with a trip to the ogunquit emergency room. First observation the room seemed fine, but good thing we were prepared with Clorox wipes. Most high touch areas not cleaned, and a sticker was on the bed frame? Beds were comfy, nice bedding. Gave a very Bates motel vibe. Remote control had unusual sticky substance all over it and the channels seemed pirated. During checkout I walked around to double check the room and instead came across someone’s cheez-it’s from a previous stay right next to my bed. The shower was very wonky and took me 30 minutes to get the thing to stop making an unusual noise. Workout room unusable for someone over 6 foot. Personally I wouldn’t even workout unless you want to take an ice bathe in the “heated” pool because of the broken jacuzzi. Good thing we chose no room service because we cleaned the room more than they would have. Again just a very scuzzy and weird vibe coming from the place. One positive was that we had to go back after checkout to retrieve a lost item, and the housekeeping lady was very nice and found it, and had it saved in the room for us. Other than that, there are plenty other hotels of higher quality in the area for...
Read moreIf you are looking for a comfy, cozy, and reasonably priced resort in Ogunquit, you have to spend a night or two at “The Milestone”.
The Milestone is a seasonal, beach-town resort. We drove up to Maine for a weekend trip and decided to stay at The Milestone.
The staff was extremely accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed and that there were no issues.
The first night we stayed in their Two-Queen Bed Suite. It has two queen beds, a walk-in shower, and a large sitting area with a couch and chairs. For those who like to enjoy their morning coffee, each room has chairs and a table outside your door.
The suite was spotless and very clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the pillows were nice and supportive. The room isn’t the most modern, but it is a beach town. You’re spending time out and about, not staying in your room all day.
We loved it so much we reached out to the office to extend our stay an extra day. Unfortunately, someone had the suite booked so we had to move rooms. No big deal.
The staff met us outside and handed us our keys to our new room. The room was still very spacious considering it is not a suite. The beds were comfortable in this room as well.
They do a great job of keeping the property in tip-top shape. They are also much more reasonable than some of the other resorts! We paid around $100 each night, which is very reasonable in my opinion.
We wished we could’ve extended our stay ANOTHER day. Unfortunately, we had to head back to Boston for a prior commitment. We love the place. It is incredibly quaint and cozy.
I would strongly suggest “The Milestone” for those traveling up to Ogunquit. The accommodations are spotless and the staff is very responsive to any issues or concerns that may arise.
My only tip is to be sure you’re out at 11AM sharp. They have zero flexibility with that. The phone in the room literally rang at 11AM on-the-dot.
If it was busy and peak season, I could understand. However, this was not the case. They even closed one of the buildings given the season winding down. They could be more flexible with this. I come to relax, not scramble to be out...
Read moreIf we didn't have the issues we did, I would've thought the place was fine. It's a convenient walk to the beach. Downtown is a bit of a trek but doable. Biggest suggestion is to bring water because there is no available drinking water outside of your bathroom sink tap, even during the continental breakfast, without paying for bottles at the front desk. Our first room smelled horribly of mildew and was crawling with bugs. They were able to move us to another open room and this one also had a mildew smell, but since it was a lot less we put up with it. Our main issue is that our fire alarm's battery started beeping in the middle of the night. The office had an on-call number taped to the door, but I called 4 times and no one picked up. It is the middle of the night and I didn't know if I needed to call the fire department or find another hotel to stay at. I called the on-call number a 5th time and someone picked up and was at our room 10 minutes later. Ultimately he couldn't fix the alarm, so he disconnected it completely and told us maintenance would come in the morning (not sure if leaving us without a working fire alarm is even legal). I followed up with them again the next morning, but they kept telling us the manager is out and they'll leave a note, but no one ever contacted us. So clearly they considered the matter closed. I know some things were out of their control, they can't help when batteries die, but I'm disappointed that there was no sympathy or even a "sorry for the...
