First, I would like to address some of the negative comments here because I am so glad that I did not pass this place up! Bangor is a city, parking is somewhat challenging in most cities. I did not find it to be challenging to park here. There definitely IS free overnight parking right on the street where the entrance is. It is free from 5pm-8am. It continues to be free however there is a one hour limit during the hours of 9am-5pm, because it is a city. Like others have said there is a parking garage close by within walking distance if you choose. I did not park there and never had an issue with parking.
Derek was quick to respond to any questions. We couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi right away but we were up and running immediately after sending a message and had no issues throughout our stay. Laundry was very reasonable at 1.50 per wash and dry. It was convenient to not have to find a laundromat to do our laundry.
On to the space- gorgeous!! I love these old renovated buildings. I found myself researching the history of the building as you can see reminders from its past.
There is an elevator shaft in the apartment which I found so neat! My daughter and I were coming up with ideas of what we would do with it if we lived there. Clean, clean, clean. Great bathroom. We had no issues preparing our meals with the items in the kitchen. French press and coffee maker!
We did not want to leave. You will love this place if you love interesting, beautiful, spacious, vintage, buildings along with typical city type things and quick responses to any questions! Just remember it is a city, in a renovated building.
Thank you Derek and team for everything! Can’t wait...
Read moreSo Here it is I don't usually give bad reviews unless I had a very bad experience. We rented from Sand Stays through Vrbo with some friends of ours. We found this cute house on 34 Union Ave in Old Orchard Beach the pictures on the website made it look cozy and fun. Well let me tell you it wasn't fun at all. It was a very stressful weekend from walking in the house to trying to sleep through the fire alarm going off at all hours to the freight train/Amtrack going by a half block away. When you go to walk in the house the railing falls off causing you to fall backwards, The interior walls appeared to be cleaned with dirty floor water, there was hand and foot prints on the walls in multiple rooms, the flooring they put down over uneven underlayment are cracked and missing, the listing said two bathrooms not 1.5 the shower area is moldy and missing trim and sheet rock. The cabinet doors were falling off in the kitchen. The kitchen utensils were missing or broken the pots and pans are missing covers and warped not to mention we had to clean them before we could try and use them. There was a very large burn stain on the ceiling above the stove. The stairs to the upstairs are out of code and scary steep. We complained to the host and she acted like this is the first time she heard about this then we found all the things we complained about reading the Airbnb reviews. When I brought this to her attention. She would just change the subject. When we got home I contacted the host again and all they would do is refund me $100 . Seeing the fire alarms and wiring in the house is faulty and so isn't the house. I would not rent from these...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience with this company! In the first place, it's impossible to reach them. We have a phone number VRBO provided us but they don't answer calls themselves. We leave messages with their service but they never return calls. Additionally, they refer to themselves as SunStays but they are actually SandStays. It has been so hard to receive a refund from them.
My family planned a trip to Arizona to attend MLB Spring training and visit the Los Angeles Dodgers facility at Camelback Ranch. We booked a home near Glendale Arizona in late December. Five days before we were due to arrive, SunStays (SandStays) sent us an email / VRBO message advising us that the home we had reserved had an undisclosed maintenance problem resulting in a cancelation. They did not provide a resolution or any alternative. We were also unable to resolve the matter with VRBO and ended up having to book with another provider that turned out to be more expensive. SunStays still has not refunded our payment. We had to go on the trip borrowing money as we did not receive our refund.
Secondly, they charged half of the payment upon reservation. The second was due on 1/20. Upon review of our statement, it turned out that they charged the 2nd payment on 1/2/25. Three days after the 1st payment. Very shady. We have proof of bank statement and payment terms.
I have called SunStays directly multiple times and they have yet to respond. Very bad service. I hope VRBO...
