My family (me, my husband, two kids) stayed at the Beachwood in July 2023. OOB is our usual vacation spot, and we were looking for a place we haven’t been to before. It was “OK,” but we won’t be returning.||$3,698.92 for a one week stay and the electricity in our room didn’t work properly. Whenever I tried to use the Keurig and watch TV at the same time, the power to our room went out. The first time it happened, I went to the front desk and someone flipped the breaker for me. The second time it happened, I flipped the breaker myself. If I’m spending that much money for a small room, I expect to be able to watch TV and make coffee at the same time. ||On our last night there, the bartender had a mishap with the propane tank for the outdoor fireplace that’s in the bar/pool area. I was sitting around the fire with my husband, one of my kids, and a couple other guests when the bartender went to change the propane tank. Fire sprayed out from the propane tank in all directions and singed my husband’s leg hairs. Fire landed on my foot and I’m very thankful that none landed on my baby. The bartender had to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire that was now happening around the propane tank underneath the fireplace. The propane tank was very close to exploding, and needless to say, it would have been a serious tragedy if there wasn’t a fire extinguisher immediately available. It was a scary experience. At check out, my husband mentioned this incident and we were told that the owner would be calling us to apologize. We never received a call.||I will say that our stay wasn’t all bad. The pool is nice, there were freshly baked cookies at the front desk, and you couldn’t ask to be closer to the beach and downtown. But the electricity problem in our room and the near fatal propane tank incident left a bad taste...
Read moreHad a two nights stay Thursday and Friday. Charged 300 plus for the first night 400 plus for the second night for a total of $830 for a two-night stay. The check-in staff on day one we're very helpful very friendly and very accommodating. I have a disability and needed parking close to my room and they made that happen. Day two staff on Friday made me move my car from a location close to my room to the complete opposite end of the property by the gate for the entrance. Mind you I had an ocean front room at the very opposite end of the property and have great difficulty walking. They offer no handicap accommodations whatsoever. I tried to talk to the staff to see if they could help to accommodate me and was treated quite rude, And they did nothing to help accommodate me further. I don't care how nice the rooms are or how good the accommodations are....? when the owner and his staff don't wish to help somebody that is disabled with accommodations close to the room everything else goes in the toilet. What started off as a good stay ends badly. I would not recommend this place to anyone with any kind of disability or handicap and certainly don't look for any help from the staff to accommodate you in any way for anything more than a swipe of your credit card!! I will never come back nor recommend anyone to the Beachwood. Hotels motels and businesses on both sides to the north and south and across the street all had handicap parking and accommodations for their...
Read moreMy husband and I have been staying here for years. This summer we took our son for the first time. When we go to OOB, we will only stay here. The motel is located in the perfect location, making it so easy to walk to everything. Very convenient with a child. The staff are always so pleasant from the front to the cleaning. The rooms are clean although a bit small. We stay in a king room that includes a small kitchenette and bath. If you stay on the second floor, you will get a nice view of the beach and pool. They added a pool bar a few years ago. At night there is a light show over the pool. The beach is steps away and they have free beach chairs and umbrellas to use. There are always plenty enough for everyone. One less thing to bring! We love that everything is within walking distance. Next door is The Shack restaurant where we often get lobster rolls or a quick bite to eat. The amusement park is a minute away. Even though it is so close, we have never had a problem with noise. You can walk to the pier and shops within a few minutes. It is very easy to go back to the room or grab food. The fireworks on the beach can be seen at the beach next...
