My family and I recently went on a trip here on a recommendation made by my daughter. Seeing as the family I went with are from a different state and I had never been before, we were all pleasantly surprised to see that there were many activities for us to keep busy with. The beach was beautiful, while the water was shivering cold, once we got used to it we were able to make great memories here. The amusement park was great, all the rides and games that were available was well worth the 2 hour car trip that we had to take to get there. There are many shops along the sidewalks, all of which are in close proximity to each other and are filled with souvenirs for everyone. One thing that I think could be improved is the pricing of the general area. The restaurant and shops, while nice in quality and quantity, have some truly ridiculously expensive items. My daughter and sister ordered two burgers with fries and wings, the total was over 70 dollars. The food was pretty good, but the wait time and pricing for it definitely was not worth it. Keep in mind, not all shops are like this, but you definitely need to go often to figure out which shops are best for certain items. I also think that the fact there are no free public rest rooms is a little ridiculous. The staff was very nice, but we had to pay 50 cents every time we needed to go to the bathroom. Some other restrooms were 75 cents. It may not seem like a lot, but for the amount of people in my family, thats about 7 dollars added to the trip. Again, it may not seem like much, but parking was 35 dollars,(later on in the night it was reduced to 20) over 70 for food, 30 for beach toys, (a bucket and shovel and umbrella) and about 20 for 3 ice creams which actually was the most reasonably priced thing here (the portions were ginormous!) Over all, the trip was enjoyed by everyone I had brought with me and was very relaxing. I would 100% recommend to someone and I plan on going again next year!

"The Pier" has been a landmark that sticks out in my head. I've been coming to OOB since I was a child, 24 years ago. I've watched this little Oceanfront town change in that time. Something that has always remained has been "The Pier". While the shops on The Pier may have changed the "vibe" certainly has not. Easy going family fun. As I've gotten older I can now go to "the end of the pier" a place I've waited to go since I was a kid (the end of the pier is a bar). The view did not disappoint (and neither did the drinks)! Good music, food and atmosphere make this a nice place to visit. Bathrooms are a little iffy out on the Pier, (there is one in the bar for patrons, one that is run based on donations during non-peal hours and I believe $.50 during peak hours. I recommend going -before- the Pier at the bathroom in Palace Playland (free, but not always clean) or one of the public areas where you do need to pay. The Pier can sometimes be crowded and cramped during peak hours so a stroller may not be advised. During the Summer fireworks are to be had each week (Thurdsdays I think) and are viewable from the beach nearby. Some vendors can be overpriced for the "hype" of being on the pier, but are on average comparable to other local shops. Drinks were decently priced for the area and the bar at the end was clean enough. Service was good and attentive. However, I recommend finding a better and less pricey meal in town away from the beach- If you want a nice sit down meal go elsewhere!

Bring cash if you want to use a restroom. If you're nasty, or cheap, the water the ocean is right below you. Water is cold even mid summer so plan accordingly for the cold water and ocean breeze. If you're old, sensitive to the cold or have trouble rewarming, I would go as far as bringing a couple blankets to help you retain heat as you try to rewarm. Don't go trying to die on the beach and ruin the vibe for everyone. That would be pretty selfish. Bring more cash (or plastic) to spend on all the overpriced souvenirs, amusement, food & whatever else you want to throw it at. Right now, I saw parking near here between $25/day next to the beach or you can save yourself a little by walking a block or two for as low as $10/day for you thrifty types that don't mind walking 5 minutes or so. During the day the beach was very crowded even on a Tuesday. Around dinner time people start departing to go grab some grub and go elsewhere. Evening was much less crowded and enjoyable however the sun wasn't as warm so of course the water felt much cooler. Warning: this is at a beach, so you may see some people in significantly less clothes than you would like to see. Just be prepared because some things can't be unseen.

When planning our trip to Maine one of the things at the top of my list to see was the Old Orchard Beach Pier. I'm a beach girl at heart so seeing this historic pier was something I thought about in the 6 months leading up to our trip, however I failed to take into consideration that in October it would be closed. Alas, what I had envisioned was not to be but it was still cool to see it, albeit right before and after a N'oreaster. The beach was covered with clam shells as large as cantaloupes and beachcombers passing by told us that they are some of the tastiest clams around. The town was pretty much a ghost town but if u closed my eyes I could just imagine what it would look like in the summer time. I was kind of surprised to see an Amtrak roll through town, less than 200 feet from the beach though, nothing I've ever seen on the Delmarva shore. Hoping to one day experience the history of this place in the summer.

We came here for dinner after we got rained off the beach. When we walked in the 3 girls behind the counter right next to the door just ignored us until someone sitting at the bar told us to sit anywhere. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and for $14 we got the tiniest amount of some sort of fried seafood I've ever seen. I've had calamari often and what they served us was NOT calamari. I assume it was clam strips but the waitress assured us we got what we ordered. She came back a few minutes later with a few sauces for the fake calamari and at that point we had had enough and decided not to waste anymore money. The picture I posted with this review shows the tiny cardboard box our food came in. An absolute joke. Don't waste your time or money at this place, there's a ton of places nearby that have the same food for half the price, and give you appropriate portions for your money.

I absolutely love OOB Pier! They always have something going on during the summer. A ton of amazing Restaurants & shops. Hooligans the Irish pub on the left when you first get on the peir is a amazing little pub with a cheers like feeling- the staff is amazing & take the time to make people happy & coming back. And literally make you feel like your at home. Pier Pizza is the best pizza in OOB. There is a shop on the Pier that dose hair wraps and hair braids. The owner is a absolutely gem. She's so sweet, incredibly kind, and really makes sure every customer that comes in her shop is happy. Her selection of beads is incredible & she's very responsibly priced. There's a airbrush shop & the creator is a true artist. And that was just a few things the pier has to offer. There's many other shop, bars, and food shops. The pier is a must see when visiting Maine.
