I stayed at the Hilton Omaha for two nights during a business trip to Omaha. I have never been to Omaha before, so I was primarily looking for a hotel nearby to the airport since I had a 6:15 a.m. departure flight. Also key to me is a fitness center open 24/7. I work out every morning, even if it means getting up at 2:00 a.m. before an early flight.||I arrived at 2:00 p.m. and parked in the attached garage. A few more signs pointing to the elevator would be helpful here. Check in went smoothly and I was given a room on the 7th floor. ||A good sign for any high rise hotel is lots of elevators to minimize wait times during peak rush hours. I was happy to see 5 elevators. ||My room was large (especially for a downtown hotel). I had a king bed with a comfy chair, ottoman, and large desk area. A few more outlets at the desk would be helpful. There were several outlets at the nightstand. The room also had a coffee maker, safe, and mini-fridge. There were no coffee cups next to the coffee maker, only plastic water cups were available. My two bottles of water for being a gold member were waiting for me. The bathroom was a decent size with plenty of counterspace. There were lots of hangers in the closet. The bed was super comfy. Very important for a downtown hotel, the room was well soundproofed. I hardly heard any typical city noises (sirens, horns) during the night. The room was clean and housekeeping did a nice job tidying up while I was out at a business meeting all day.||I used the fitness center both mornings. It was very well equipped with multiple bikes, ellipticals, treadmills and even a stairclimber. There were also numerous nautilus type weight machines (that all worked smoothly), along with free weights. There were plenty of towels and sanitizing wipes. The Precor elliptical I used both mornings worked well (even the attached TV). It was a little weird that water was not available in the gym, but there is a bottle filling station in the lobby area close to the gym. I was grateful the facility was open 24/7 and had no issues accessing it at 2:45 a.m.||I ate dinner both nights at the hotel restaurant Nick Q's Bar and Supper Club. Yes, it was that good. I travel frequently for work. As a solo female traveler, I seldom feel unsafe eating by myself, especially at a hotel restaurant. But all of the staff made me feel safe, comfortable, and welcome. I sat at the bar and the bartender (I am horrible with names, I know it started with a D) is a treasure. He explained the happy hour specials, made recommendations, and kept an eye on me. He engaged with the patrons at the bar just enough to make everyone feel welcome. ||I ordered the beet salad and fish fry the first evening and the corn chowder and prime rib the second evening. Everything was outstanding. The prime rib is sliced table side and served with au jus and seasonings to your taste. Truly one of the best hotel dining experiences that I've had in a long time. ||I had no issue using the parking ticket to exit and re-enter the hotel. While the parking charge ($34/night) is steep, it is not out of line with what is being charged in other cities. ||The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the convention center although I was not there for a convention. ||The hotel is only about 7 minutes from the airport (via surface roads). There is also an airport shuttle. I saw numerous flight crews at the hotel which is always a good sign. Flight crews do not tolerate substandard hotels. ||I would not hesitate to stay at this...
Read moreI must say I was gravely disappointed in my experience here. It first began with the hotel shuttle, which I contacted the hotel and informed them I was at the airport. I followed their instructions to meet the shuttle at door number 5, which was supposed to run every 30 mins. While the shuttle was running late, I waited an extra 15-20 mins for it to arrive, only for it to ride past me, while I was waving to the driver for the shuttle to stop. I was infuriated, after a flight from Maryland. I then called and texted the hotel and told them what happened. They were apologetic and said they would call the driver to see if he could turn around. I never received any follow up text or call and I ended up waiting nearly 1.5hrs (in total) for the shuttle to pick me up. The hotel is only 10 mins away from the airport and the first shuttle that passed me by was empty. Once the shuttle FINALLY picked me up, I talked to the driver and told him I texted the hotel once I landed at the airport, then contacted the hotel again, after he drove past me at the pickup point. He let me know that no one communicated anything to him - This is what ultimately infuriated me, because I was lied to and ultimately ignored by hotel staff, as if it wasn't important. My conversation with the shuttle driver was good, so I decided not to leave a bad review. I also talked to Brenda at the front desk, who was attentive to my complaint and she remedied the situation. Now, what led to me leaving this particular review (because I didn't want to do this) is me arriving to my room to find the shower gel dispenser completely empty when I washed up. I went ahead and used the facial soap bar to wash up. The next morning, I expected the crew to refill it when they came in to make up my bed, but my expectations were not met. My bed was made, but the shower gel was still completely empty. I usually stay at the Embassy Suites when I visit Omaha and never run into these housekeeping issues. The Hilton is a nice vibrant hotel, but in my experience execution might be an issue and the lack of execution is in the details, which may cause great inconvenience on someone like myself, who visits often on business. My highlight of patronizing this hotel was Nick's, the restaurant inside of the hotel and the bar in the lobby. I didn't want to leave this review, but the inefficiency of operations here, during my stay, led me to do this. I do think this is fixable and the hotel is an overall good place to stay, but I've had better service at the Embassy Suites and even the old, outdated Doubletree. I must say my trip to Omaha this time around was not the best, due to the stumbling operations of the Hilton, which impacted my punctuality regarding my scheduled meetings and emails I needed to take care of. Good people work at this hotel, but I'm disappointed, this...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but I wouldn’t want others to have the same experience I did.||I stayed on the 4th floor, and unfortunately, the hallways had a strong, unpleasant odor—musty or moldy. I’m not saying there was mold, but it reminded me of an old car I had with a sunroof leak—the kind of smell that sets in after sitting for a few weeks. To their credit, my room itself was clean and smelled fresh, but getting to and from it was not pleasant.||Parking was another issue. It costs $34 per night, which even my local Omaha colleagues found staggering for the city. Worse, the system is inconvenient. You don’t get a scannable room key, or separate validated ticket, when checking in, like you do at many comparable hotels. Instead, you have to bring your physical parking ticket to the front desk, and they charge it to your room manually. When I tried to leave for dinner to meet a colleague, the gate wouldn’t open because the charge apparently hadn’t registered to the bar code on the original ticket. I called the hotel (the number listed at the gate), and the front desk initially assumed it was my error until they checked and confirmed the charge had gone through. They eventually opened the gate—but hung up before confirming I could get out.||A small but telling detail: no complimentary water bottles in my room or at check-in, despite my Hilton Honors membership. Not a big deal on its own, but when added to the rest of the experience, it felt like things I was suspected were more of a pattern of performance. I stay at a lot of 3-star Hilton brands, as I travel for work, and have consistently had better, smoother experiences. They have never missed this detail, for example.||For an actual Hilton property, this was a real disappointment. Based on other reviews, I suspect they handle conferences well, and that's what contributing to their stars—but if you're an individual traveler, especially if you stay places often on business, this property may not meet expectations. I'd recommend looking at other options, including lower cost ones, as your likely to have a...
