We had booked a king and for some reason we were given a dual queen. The hotel is tucked away on a busy road within an easy drive of downtown Toledo but not close. A big plus was the wine and beer store right outside the front door and a nice selection of restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and functional although "stark" for the lack of a better word. All the furniture looked like it had come from Ikea. The TV is surprisingly small for today's market. Noise was an issue the first night, with thumps from overhead and noise from the hallway. The walls seem rather thin! However, the second night, things had settled down and we got a better sleep. I was not a fan of the tub/shower with the very curved bottom. Even my wife commented on how "difficult" it was to stand and turn when using the shower. If someone had stability issues, this would be an issue. However, the water pressure was great. The toilet seat was not the correct one for the bowl and tended to slide about. The beds were comfy with large full pillows. The breakfast was okay with hot and cold offerings. The eggs were offered as pre-made omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy, Good enough to get you going. If I had to stay again, I would not be too upset, although I would likely look for another hotel, maybe with a higher price and quieter rooms.

I have never been to this location and hopefully unless it gets a major renovation probably wont be back. Lots of small issues throughout, multiple stained ceiling tiles, sticky carpeted areas, leaky juice machine, a random bulge in a bath tub that should be flat, building maintenance seems to be a secondary priority, a broken pancake machine (only hot item on the breakfast bar) but not really since its broken. Breakfast is from 630-10am we went down at 830 and it was devastated like a hurricane hit it. No coffee or cups, missing multiple cold and dry items. NO HOT BREAKFAST. All other holiday inns i have visited in the past 3 months all have hot breakfast. The ice machine on the main floor ice has debris in it so most likely it needs cleaned and serviced. The room its self was clean and other then the tub bulge and loose toilet, ice in the fridge, and a tiny TV not a bad room. The pool is open so that's positive. The staff seems friendly and helpful when you interact with them. So over all maintenance is the main issue.

Stayed here for the Special Olympics State competition. The room was clean and all the employees were nice and helpful. Yes, the hotel is a little bit back off the road and it's a little weird how the parking is but we never felt unsafe. Another review said the view from breakfast area was a dumpster. Idk where they were looking but the view was the parking lot. This hotel is clean, the employees are nice, breakfast was better then most chain hotels and the rate was reasonable. We would stay here again if we are in the area. I would stay here again if we are in the area.

Came down for a work thing and to enjoy the Toledo Jeep Fest and my husbands 43rd birthday.

Never been to the area before it was easy to find and in a great location for food and general shopping and a quick hop over the bridge to downtown Toledo.

My husbands assistant had called ahead and asked for a room upgrade as she couldn’t get our online portal to reserve anything but a double queen room and Terrilynne was really awesome and upgraded our room.

When we arrived the ladies behind the desk were nice, thanked us for being loyal members but never made mention of the room upgrade or husbands birthday. We had no idea until we walked in the room it was a suite.

The room was nice and big which was great however it wasn’t dirty but it wasn’t clean either. Every surface had streaks, mirrors, microwave, TV, the wood wall coverings, lights, desk..basically every surface had this streaky film. Under normal circumstances I would have went thru and cleaned but we had a time schedule so we unpacked, freshened up and left. As we arrived back at 11ish there was a large group of people sitting out front drinking in lawn chairs, kinda weird. The pool and hot tub closed at 11 so that sucked after a long drive and a long night the hot tub would have been amazing.

We went up to our room and as we walked the hallway there was a couple of pretty loud rooms on the way to ours. About an hour into us relaxing the sounds of a woman having extraordinarily loud sex over powered our TV volume. Her moans and screams for “Daddy” lasted about an hour then a 20 minute or so break and then probably another hour of sex noises (kudos to her partner btw) By 3 am on the clock things were finally quiet. I didn’t check my phone to see if the alarm clock was correct and we went to sleep. Normally we are up with the sun but we didn’t have to be up so when I glanced at the clock it said 7am. I knew we had a little more time so I let my husband sleep a little longer and I tried to go back to sleep. At this point you could hear people moving around, talking etc. I decided to get up to go down and get breakfast and glanced at the microwave clock, it said 830. This panicked me and I grabbed my phone. It was actually 9:15.

Both clocks in the room were wrong :/ We were supposed to meet people at 10. I hurried downstairs to grab us some food. Looking forward to cinnamon rolls but there weren’t any. The breakfast room was kinda bare. No syrup for pancakes and no Togo bags. Grabbed some random muffins a couple apples and we went on with our day. We knew the pool and hot tub closed at 11 so we made our way back to the hotel by 10 and hurried down to the pool to relax but it was full of little kids and college age boys throwing footballs from the pool to the hot tub. We patiently waited and about 1030 we were able to get in the hot tub but it was all bubbly (aka dirty people yuck) I got in the pool just in time for the girl to come in and tell us the pool was closed. We dried off and headed to our room. Again the hallways were loud so loud on the 1st floor we could still hear them clearly in the elevator. The 3rd floor wasn’t much better it was pretty loud. Again about midnight you could hear the same lady having loud sex again…for hours. Luckily the bed was comfortable and we turned on a movie and fell asleep. I was woke up around 3am again to the loud screaming of this lady enjoying sex. Good for them but it was weird and a little awkward.

In the morning because the day before breakfast was slim I got up a little earlier and headed down to maybe get some cinnamon rolls this time but it was even worse. There were no plates, no cinnamon rolls, pancake batter was out, no syrup, no peanut butter, no muffins, no forks, no hot water for oatmeal, no cups for juice, no scrambled eggs, no bagels… literally it sucked. The girl looked annoyed that people kept asking for basics. I grabbed a couple nutrigrain bars and some sausage. You could hear from inside our room housekeeping banging on doors so we packed up to leave and went to breakfast at a restaurant nearby before driving 2.5 hours home.

It wasn’t the greatest stay, it wasn’t the worst.

Honestly the best thing was the shower.

I’m not sure if we would stay here again there were less expensive hotels closer to what we were doing in Toledo and since the pool, hot tub and breakfast weren’t really a perk we were able to utilize I probably would find another hotel. It was nice to have the upgraded room but the rest...

Update: If you’re considering this hotel, do yourself a favor and DONT. I’ve never in my entire life experienced such a horrible sleep at a hotel coupled with the level of dishonesty and unwillingness to follow through on making it right from management. It’s located in a dumpy dive area of town. Burned down falling apart house. Industrial plant. The hotel itself is at the back of a dilapidated strip mall and parking lot is a pot hole mess. Facility areas like pool, elevator, lobby, exterior are grimy and neglected. We were kept up almost all night by a rave party happening in the room above us. Despite earplugs, calls to front desk and even trying to personally ask the room above to lower the volume, the noise was overpowering and persisted til the early morning hours. When we tried to again reach the front desk we called about a dozen times with no answer. So dragged ourselves downstairs at 3:30am to beg for them to call the police or do something. No one was at the desk. We tried to find someone and called out multiple times. Finally a young girl came to the desk. She wouldn’t call the police. But the non guests group from the party room above came to the lobby and started a verbal assault/altercation at us in front of her. I pleaded for the fighting to stop and the girl at the desk just stood silently and never called the police or did anything to remove the guests from the room. She considered it taken care of that the non hotel guest people had left the room. But me and my friend felt unsafe even walking back to our room because there were men lingering by the elevator after that who seemed to be from the party room we complained about. Even after saying we didn’t feel safe going back to our room and having to sit in the lobby the girl at the desk didn’t attempt to remove that group from their room or call the police. She offered a $30 discount for the “inconvenience”. We eventually sprinted back to our room and when we gathered our things a few hours later to leave the manager at the desk “Dave” told us he couldn’t refund us only IHG could according to him. I told him I didn’t believe him. He insisted management was only allowed to refund $30. When I called IHG they said that’s untrue. IHG can only offer points which wouldn’t have even been enough to cover a stay. So we tried ti reach Dave many many times. No response. My friend drove back two hours to talk to him and he said the refund was issued and would be seen in 7-10 days. Weeks later still no refund. Multiple attempts to call Dave met with no answer. Finally a month and a half later I reach someone and it’s the “new manager” who claims she “will not” issue a refund for something she has no proof of. I asked her to look at security footage. And records. She eventually says she “will not” and that she “doesn’t have time to talk in circles about something she won’t do anything about”. Unbelievable IHG. Hot tub water was brown. Daytime front desk clerk is rude. Only one pleasant staff member was there in the early evening. Do NOT expect to sleep or feel safe. The staff does not look out for their guests safety or comfort. The hotel is grimy and not nice. The elevator floor feels like vinyl that was glued on top of soggy carpet. Management gets a zero star rating from me for the lying and lack of communication. The building itself doesn’t feel well managed. Only good thing was there were no bed bugs...

Where do I even begin to this nightmare. I will stick to the FACTS of my experience at this hotel plus the chaos that has ensued after, and not go on my emotions. You can decide whether you’d like to stay at such a place or not.

I stayed here end of February with my best friend for one night. The room above us had a party going on with a dozen people, most weren’t guests. The noise coming from above us was so loud that it not only over powered our earplugs, but we could feel the vibrations of them jumping up and down non stop and rearranging furniture through the walls and into our beds. We tried for hours to ignore it. There wasn’t one moment of peace. By 1am I personally went up there and politely asked them to quiet down. It only got worse. So we called the front desk to ask them to do something about it. Nothing was done and we laid awake until 3am. At that point, we tried to call the front desk ten times after the span of ten minutes. No one answered. At 3:30am, we went down to reception, and no one was there. We called out for 10 mins with no answer. Finally she appeared. We expressed our concerns that it was now almost 4am and we hadn’t got a minute of sleep. We asked her to call the police, and she refused. Then, the guests from that room came down and started verbally accosting me. I both my friend and I thought they were going to physically attack me. The whole time the reception lady just stood there as my friend begged her to call the cops for our safety. She refused. We didn’t end up back to our room for another hour because there were men from that room lingering at the elevators and we were afraid for our safety so we stayed in the lobby in the meantime. The noise finally stopped, but began again at 7am. We got maybe two hours of cat napping.

I understand these things happen. The real atrocity here is that management refused to refund us. They gave us $30 back, but that is simply unacceptable. We have tried for two months now to get our money back, and we have been lied to that they can’t give a refund, only the IHG can. IHG has said that that’s not a possibility, they can’t do that but the manager can. We have been given the runaround for two months.

This next part I’m going to state very simply to the person who’s going to respond to this review. Please read carefully and slowly so that you’re able to understand:

I understand that there is new management. Stop giving us the excuse that you can’t do anything because you are new management. You can, in fact, give us a refund for such a frightening and horrific stay. You are simply choosing not to. There is more than enough evidence with the video camera surveillance that you refuse to look through. Stop insulting us with your excuses, and do the right thing here. Holiday Inn Express Toledo-Oregon, where are your morals and values? And do not ask us to come back for a different experience. We will not be doing so, and we will not be seeing you again.

On top of this, the pool and hot tub water was disgusting brown, and not maintained. The front desk lady is extremely rude both on the phone and in person. The hotel is not clean. Our view at breakfast was the dumpster next door and garbage all over. The parking lot is full of potholes and there’s not enough parking spots. I had to park at the store next door. This area and the hotel itself is not safe.

0 stars if I could. Do...
