I've been to so many Chinese buffets all around Ohio that I've lost count. Going to them is almost always about cost/quality, with the point being that they have a lot of selection and you get to knock out all of your lingering cravings for various salty/sweet/fried foods for not a lot of money. So if it's at least mediocre and offers a lot of selection usually it's done it's job even though it's usually not the best quality. I'm fine with that, it's what I expect. This buffet, though, even for the mere $9 that dinner costs, doesn't really give you a lot for that money. I have to admit, I was VERY disappointed with the selection. This is the first Chinese buffet I've ever been to that didn't have General Tso's chicken, fried rice, pork dumplings, or pork spare ribs. The sushi selection was the poorest I've ever seen at any Chinese buffet, lacking even the basic California roll. The only seafood they have at all is two prepared shrimp dishes. In general, the selection here is VERY VERY lacking. Their small buffet tables were missing probably 1/3+ of the staples I'm so used to seeing at every single Chinese buffet I go to.
In terms of the actual quality of the limited foods that were there, again, I'm usually expecting that each buffet's food is going to be mostly mediocre, with one or two standout dishes that the chefs do well compared to others. Here, the standout dishes were the coconut shrimp and the wonton soup. Those were both very good. The chicken broccoli and sesame chicken were also decent, on the upper end of average for what I'd expect from the buffet, and although they weren't the best, they did have fried scallops, which not every buffet does have, and which I'll eat whether they're good or not. The quality of everything else on the entire buffet, though, was really significantly below average. Teriyaki chicken wasn't very good, the egg rolls were of the variety where they're greasy and have almost no filling, the honey chicken was 80% breading, the lo mein tasted excessively sweet, and as a whole even compared to other cheap under-$10 Chinese buffets that I've been to (I've been to at least 4,) the quality was mediocre.
So as a whole, the price is very low, but for the dismal selection that they have and the generally below-average quality of the food, with only three or four things that I really enjoyed, I still didn't think it was worth it. Even the $7 Chinese buffet in Cleveland had better quality and selection, and compared to the also-$9 Chinese buffet I went to through all of college in the small town of Cambridge, OH, which offers twice as much selection, plus a stir-fry grill, plus fresh seafood, plus a large sushi selection, plus significantly better quality on almost every single dish, this just fell completely flat. I won't be going back, which is a real rarity for me when it comes to Chinese buffets because I usually love...
Read moreWell a friend of mine said they have new owners and food was really good! So, hubby, daughter and myself decided to check it out for ourselves and "wow" what a disappointment! The food was terrible and I mean terrible to where literally everything I tried was spit up in my napkin! Also, was close to closing and I'm sure the last dishes of the day was all we would get! I mean no fried shrimp, no fried chix, normally I could count on getting a decent salad and I used to love the ranch they served but now they have clover valley dressing in bottles on side for customers to use like again "wow"! The taste just wasn't there most of food was cold and old and just very disappointed! Therefore, didn't get our $45 bucks worth of eating and we only had waters so if we ordered pops bill would of been over $50 I'm sure! At this point we said well let's give dessert a try! A deep freezer bin with Krogers ice cream sandwiches and vanilla chocolate covered Choco sticks to that I literally had in my freezer at home so at this sad end we are never going...
