An honest review.
I selected this hotel among the many in the area as it seemed to be relatively nice and near the event I was attending. The details in the description do note that it is currently undergoing a renovation so going into this I did expect some work to be under construction. When I arrived at the hotel I was met with a lobby that was nearly completely bare apart from some of the drinks and service station items. The walls were bare of wall coverings and this revealed some rather concerning details about the state of the property.
Underneath the wallpaper were large spots of mold and mildew around windows, doors and such. A lot of the work being done seemed to be of nearly the landlord special quality. Cheaps fixtures to replace old ones, new wallpaper to spruce things up. Were were informed that they had just started renovations on the lobby itself and were starting renovations on the 3 floor shortly and that we would be staying on the fourth floor where the renovations were finished.
Upon making out way up to our floor upon exiting the elevator we were greeted by no wall coverings yet again. The carpet and fixtures did seem to be replaced but the were spots of plaster on random things such as the door number plaques and such indicating a lack of detail and care on behalf of the crew tending to the renovations.
Our room seemed clean for the most part but once again the quality of the renovations was poor and I doubt it will stand up to much use unfortunately. I do believe that the furniture was not replaced with the reno yet seemed to be in fairly okay condition still apart from the somewhat noisy mini fridge. If you are one that is particular like I am or prefer to have a very dark room when sleeping this room is not for you. The lights from the phone blinked the entire stay as if it had a message, the in wall unit HVAC system also was rather bright and the curtain left a little more to be desired as far as blocking out the light.
The quality of the reno became more apparent upon closer inspection when navigating my way through my daily routine. Everything seemed rather low quality in my opinion and slapped together with very little concern for pride or craftsmanship. The barn door style partition that open to the bathroom was missing a few screws in the hardware supporting it to the wall and already begining to rust, the shower unit seemed to be a older unit from a previous reno where the just caulked around the surrounding surfaces to aid in a refreshing appearance. There was a random hole in the wall underneath the mirror above the desk as if someone measured once and drilled once, the was a very jagged and torn piece of the wallpaper near the bed and evidence around the room of several other spots near the window already bubbling too.
Moving on, the bed was comfy but the pillows are absolutely terrible. I did ask staff for more which they did give us two more on top of the two per person already in the room. Id recommend supplying your own pillow if you have sleep issues with very flat pillows as I do.
Overall I am not so sure id rush back to this hotel again for the price. There are several other to choose from in the immediate area for nearly identical pricing. I cannot comment on the breakfast or the pool as I did not partake in either unfortunately. Only trying to give my honest feedback that I wish they maybe would notate a little further into what to expect with the ongoing improvements being done to the property at the...
Read moreMy experience was one of the worst ever due to the most horrible and rude staff Mark Staib (front desk mgr) who obviously doesn't have the capacity to deal with large crowds, busy days or things not running smoothly as a typical day. I reserved a King size room however given the room they seen fit and according to them at sizable discounted rate. My problem is you can't trade 1 for the other, money isn't the issue!!! The problem for me Andrew Favorito (general manager) is the way your staff treat your guest and to wait to get in a room for over and hour is absurd after traveling over 2 hrs. I don't appreciate it and more should be done!!! My most recent stay was at Toledo/ Oregon Hampton Inn. I waited over an hour to placed into a room. I had a reservation for a king size suite and I was initially given a double suite. After discovering it was a queen double I went to the desk a 2nd time spoke with the assist Mgr Mark Staib who gave me a king size room however neither of the keys worked, went a 3rd time spoke to Mr. Staib again for a 3rd time who then followed me up to the room with his master key, that didn't work. He stated he'd be back. Another gentleman came (Xavier) who tried some electronic device which didn't unlock the door either but he offered if it opened we'd have to use to door hook in the door to gain access in and out of the room. He left and we waited finally I went back to the desk for a 5th time, Mr. Staib asked did he not help you, I said he came and the device didn't work. He then called Xavier, left him a message. I asked Mr. Staib is this normal practice as ive been waiting for over an hour to get i to my room. He became very rude and replied dont you see i was helping you. I said the bottom line is you have guest who have been waiting for over and hour, no explanation given no apology. I asked who is the mgr, he said i am the mgr well assist mgr. I asked who is your mgr, he said Andy i asked where is he, he said probably in his bed. I asked if he had a card, He pointed over there. I told him his customer service is horrible and hes very rude. He said ive never had any complaints, i said you do now he said good. I told him to stop talking to me.Xavier arrived shortly after the call as he was walking up to the desk, he asked me did he tell you . He said we don't have any kings available, we're putting you in a double at a rate of $129 + tax. I told them this is unacceptable and if there were other hotels available I'd request a refund. Xavier excorted me up stairs to gather my belongs then downstairs to my double suite. Explained to speak with mgr in the morning. There was NEVER any derogatory language used as that was unnecessary and I don't appreciate Mark Staib lying. Thanks for you public apology, finally and it should've come from Mark since he was the rude staff who ruined my experience. Also I was never promptly put in a room upon my 1st visit to the front desk, so your information is incorrect. Again, I requested that you review your cameras and get back with me but I guess this was your best means to...
Read moreI'll start by saying take all reviews with a grain of salt. I was a little worried about some of these reviews. Each person has their own experience I guess.
My only complaint about this place is that there isn't a lot of good set down or steak house restaurants nearby. Lots of fast food choices though
This hotel is in a nicer section of the area. Parking lot is nice and well lit. Outside of building is well maintained. Nice curb appeal. When you walk into the lobby it's a little jaw dropping. Wasn't expecting it to be so pretty and well decorated. Everything is very new and well maintained. Walls, carpet and lights all look new and modern. I think this is a fairly new hotel, or just taken good care of. Front desk lady was friendly. Went a little overboard telling me about their breakfast and all the amenities. She seemed proud of the place. Swimming pool area is beautiful. Very well decorated and no missing tiles or anything. Hot tub is extras hot. Read some bad reviews about this and it's just not true for my visit. It's a big, deep tub and in good shape. Swimming Pool is also heated and actually feels like it. No chill when getting in. The whole swimming area is really nice and did not disappoint. Hotel room was nice and clean. Furniture is modern and carpet was nice, no stains. King size bed has good pillows and fresh mattress ( no groves). Biggest complaint about the whole stay was the tv. It's like a 37" or maybe 42" at most. Too small for a room this big. Volume is somehow capped too, Watched the presidential debate and had a hard time hearing mumbling Joe. They have a bar code you scan for channel guide, but the channels don't actually match. Not at all, not a single one. Bathroom is nice and shower is huge. Whatever cleaner they use smells a little musty. Not bleach but some type of industrial cleaner that left a little smell behind. Not terrible, but I think I read another review about room stinking and I'm guessing it was this Not at all bad, just noticeably different. Only lasted for a few seconds and quickly adjusted to it. Air conditioner temp is on the unit itself. Thermostat on wall is obsolete, but still there. AC Needed a little more kick too. I like more moving air and really cold room. Guessing the filter needed cleaned. The last thing is the breakfast. It was amazing. More choices than a HI breakfast and all really good food. It's a buffet style with several egg and meat choices, waffles and different breads coffee bar has multiple options for coffee and creamer. No complaints at all for this breakfast. Overall I feel like I had to get really picky to find anything negative to say. I've stayed in 7 hotels in Toledo I work here 2-3 days almost every week. I have now found my favorite place and will not change places unless something drastic...
