This hotel is barely a 2 star experience by anyones standards. I am appalled to have paid this kind of money for a hotel of this caliber. Honestly as I detail my experience here it's almost laughably bad in retrospect. I promise you I am not exaggerating -- look at my other reviews and you will see I rarely give bad reviews but I feel its important to warn others so as to avoid this experience and waste of money:
First when we arrived we noticed the room was very cold as it was the evening in the winter. We turn the heat on and after several minutes the air is still not blowing hot. We notify the front desk to send someone to fix it and we go out for the evening. We return to the hotel in the evening at about 11 PM to be notified by the night manager that the heating is broken and that they are not able to switch our rooms nor do they have a space heater on the premises. So now I am paying nearly a thousand dollars to sleep in a freezing cold room. So I now have to go out and buy a space heater at Wal-Mart at midnight at my own expense just to try to salvage this abomination of a decision to stay at this abhorrent hotel. They fixed it the next day after a very relaxing experience of having a maintenance man in our room for several hours. Very luxurious...
Another huge faux pas is that they call this place 'Hotel and Spa'. So here's the thing with that ... there is no Spa. My extremely average and also extremely expensive massage was held in an empty room that ALSO did not have working heat or a/c (lol). They said their Spa was under renovations which even if it was true this was not mentioned anywhere on the website or at the time of booking. A few more things to consider: The restaurant is just as extremely average and extremely expensive as the massage was. They don't provide you with WiFi details at check-in. The bell told us the pool was heated to 86 degrees all year round -- touched it and it was freezing cold. Last but not least, the cable TV was out for the last night. We asked the desk for towels and body wash to be sent to our room the last night before going out -- wasn't there when we came back had to ask again. Our room was also by the employee area and by the highway which made it loud and not relaxing (but this is specific to our room only so this will only affect a few of the rooms but added to the experience).
After all of this the manager only removed our resort fees + valet which barely covers the cost of the heater I had to buy due to their ineptitude.
Do yourself a favor and stay at the Parker if you want a...
Read moreIt breaks my heart to have to write this review. This was my oasis for many years and multiple times a year...but there's only so much you can handle from management especially for the premium you pay at this hotel vs the rest of palm springs, that makes it no longer worth it. If you are paying $1,500 per night (with taxes and fees) you expect to get a CLEAN room free of former guests' hair and cotton swabs...you also expect management to be kind, not robots. After staying at the Hermann suites for my 4th time (and on the property for the 8th time) I am making the decision to switch hotels during my stay (skipping a night) because management just doesn't get what good service means and is happy to say goodbye to you.
The first time I stayed at the Hermann suites was when they first opened, I took the biggest suite they had with a jacuzzi in the back. Guess what? The jacuzzi was SO dirty I didn't even attempt to touch it. I love this property so much, I said nothing.
The staff on property is very friendly, but there has not been even one instance I've stayed here where either something wasn't broken in the room or was not clean. This time around beyond a leaking shower and someone else's hair by my bed that even made the house keeping staff disturbed to even take a picture, the walls are so thin I had the privilege of hearing my neighbor have extremely loud sex. I have unfortunately reached my end here.
For the first time ever, because I am upset, I looked at my itemized bill (and you better believe no one orders more bottles than I do here). By doing so, I found out that I was being overcharged $85 (besides this I was offered $100 off but I refused it because of principle, you can't continually mess up and win me over with money). Imagine if I had looked more closely when I had stayed other times..Gd knows how many more "mistakes" there's been.
I am going to another property tomorrow which is 1/3rd of the price, so even if I get the same situation at least I know I'm not paying premium prices as I am here. On top of everything, their food sucks.
There's a reason why everyone I have met here is here for the first time instead of repeat guests like myself...I guess I am the moron. ...
Read moreI don’t understand the 3 star hotel listing on google or some of the low reviews this hotel has been receiving. I think this is one of the best hotels that we’ve been to, and is worth every penny. I feel like because it’s more expensive than standard hotels people might be extra critical on the details, and maybe some rightly so? However you have to realize that this hotel only has 25 bungalows so it’s super private and feels more exclusive than regular places that we’ve been to. That privacy is worth it for me rather than having to share a pool, elevator, amenities with hundreds of people. I honestly wish more hotels would have a small and exclusive size.
Pros: The rooms are bungalows and separate units so we didn’t hear loud footsteps, music etc from our neighbors. It’s also 21 and older, so no children running around. Clean, modern, loved the bathroom that had a private indoor and outdoor shower. Daily room service and nightly turndown services. Rare as I believe hotels are tapering down of daily housekeeping. Loved the updated mid century modern revamp. A/C was fine, bed was comfortable. But if you want a firm bed, this is not for you.
Spa services: outdoor massage, Alejandro was great. You also get a compliment drink after spa services.
Food: dining experience was excellent. Breakfast was included with AmEx rewards, something as simple as pancakes were divine. I would go back just for the pancakes. Dinner was also great, we ate in a hurry though because we arrived just when they were closing .
Customer service was on point. Every concierge, valet, server, bartender was professional and helpful. We came late to dinner and they kept the restaurant open just for us.
The grounds are well kept and tidy. I loved how they designed the fountains, landscape.
Cons: monday- Thursday SOPA closed, dinner service at bar ends at 8:00 on Monday - Thursday. Just note that they have valet parking only and resort fees.
Overall, you just have to ask yourself, would I go back? Definitely. Would I refer friends? Absolutely....
