Nice experience and vacation in Palm Springs - and with the same hotel group!
We stayed at Descanso (one of the sister properties) last year right before this one opened.
This one is a bit on the other side of town and tucked away in the Twin Palms community - and quiet (except for the 1 day we were there and they had tree trimming most of the morning).
The layout of the property is bit more open and minimalist than Descanso with less greenery.
As with Descanso, they had a continental breakfast and lunch provided which is a great benefit.
Guests were all nice and friendly. Pool was lovely, as was the hot tub.
Also was able to check-out a couple bikes to go shopping.
A few misses:
SmartTV - they don't have them (at least not in the room we stayed) - so plan ahead to bring a cable and/or whatever entertainment you wish on a separate device. I was told the TV could potentially cast, but that function wasn't present. Also, the remote didn't work for half the stay until I moved the sensor on the bottom of the TV and that helped marginally. Descanso had Amazon TVs that were easy to use from the get-go. Although I don't travel to sit in a room and watch TV, with winding down in the evening, it's nice to have.
Housekeeping - although they came in and made the bed, provided new towels, and emptied trash, they didn't provide any clean cups or remove additional ones that were in the room.
Hot Water - in the morning, you would have to run the water for a good 5 minutes (at least!) before the water would get to a semi-warm temperature, which, in the desert where there is a drought, I feel bad . .
Staff - not everyone (even one of the managers) seemed happy / welcoming as you'd hope (they weren't angry - just didn't smile or ask how your stay was, etc)
Not sure if we'd come back here - definitely want to try Santiago or we'd go back to Descanso (but we'd definitely stay within this hotel group - I did quite a bit of research on other properties in Palm Springs and this group certainly seems to actually care about their product, service, and offerings whereas I don't think I can say the same for others . . . )
I'll say it again from last year in PS:
Pro travel tip: use the mass transit bus within a couple blocks and only $1 to get to/from downtown or to...
Read moreWhere to begin? Twin Palms is not just as pictured, it’s better. In an increasingly AI world, the place is the real thing. From the moment you arrive, the property has a flawlessly manicured curb appeal. Once you enter, the landscaping, pool, spa, and all common areas were meticulously maintained. The rooms were well-appointed with welcome snacks, quality linens, plenty of storage for an extended stay, as well as beautiful mid-century minimalism design. The marble baths are gorgeous, both water pressure and temperature were flawless.
There is a great mini-fridge, which you really won’t need except maybe to save a portion of the generous lunch portions. The canteen provides a considerable number of the necessities, fresh water, ice, coffee (hot and iced), sodas, assorted waters, and snacks. The canteen serves a great selection of complementary breakfast items to serve all palettes. Lunch selection is easy and effortless with a great selection of sandwiches and salads from local businesses. The quality was amazing and portions are generous.
The pool area is just as well-attended with fresh towels and plenty of lounge seating, although the heated pool was too welcoming to stay in a lounge chair for long. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to socialize with other guests, everyone was incredibly friendly. Even those who are more insular and on their own vacation are perfectly friendly. We tried to read body language and look for social queues. We formed great bonds and made new friends, which is something that is somewhat uncommon and hard to replicate in the LGBTQ+ community at bars and clubs.
Then there is the Twin Palms team. From the moment Boomer welcomed us, I’ve never witnessed more attentive and outgoing people who make it a point to connect with each guest and go out of their way to make your stay remarkable and memorable. From daily housekeeping to the afternoon wind happy hour, even tapping you on the shoulder if they didn’t receive your lunch order, they never missed a mark. I let them know how very much we appreciated them and the work they do to cultivate and maintain this amazing gem of a property. We cannot wait to return and will share this experience with our friends. It’s a whole vibe, and you truly must experience it...
Read moreThis was our first time at Twin Palms Resort, we are partners going on ten years and needed a vaca in sunny Palm Springs. We chose this hotel after researching all the other gay only resorts in Palm Springs. Trust me, THIS is where you wanna stay!! We are already planning our return after such a perfect and fun time here! Here are our thoughts on why we fell in love with Twin Palms…
The Resort: This mid century modern resort is new, clean and perfectly designed. We loved the yellow themed pool area which always had comfy lounges to sunbath on and incredible views of the mountains. Our room was super clean, comfy King bed, modern sexy marble bathroom with skylight over the shower, and bar counter area which we stocked the fridge for morning mimosas and nightly cocktails. The décor was chic and colorful, and we enjoyed meeting men from all around and made some friends.
The Service: The staff here was incredible! Always around to clean up pool towels and any trash, the pool area was always spotless!! They passed out water bottles poolside at the peak of the hot sun, and greeted you with smiles throughout the day. There were free mimosas on Sunday morning, wine socials in the evening, and we always felt safe and well cared for.
The Food: They provide a wonderful breakfast and lunch of your choice in the “Canteen” area by the pool, which was always delicious, fresh and very relaxing to start the day. This provided great value for our hotel rate! Also by not having to leave to go get food. They also stocked waters, sodas, and juice to enjoy throughout the hot day.
The location: We liked that the resort was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The mountain views were beautiful and we took advantage of the bike rentals they had to bike around the super cute neighborhood one day. We didn’t rent a car, we mostly walked to get liquor, groceries, restaurants, day hikes and even the gay bars weren’t far. Uber and Lyfts were super easy when needed.
Thank you Twin Palms Resort for the perfect vaca we needed ! We WILL be coming back soon. This...
