I wish my rating for this Sonesta could have been better, however, my experience at this location was like nothing I have ever seen before. I booked a two bedroom suite and never passed the front desk. Please understand due to covid I haven't reserved any rooms in the pass few years so my understanding of hotel policies is rusty, although I have booked rooms with Sonesta and had no problems ever. Nevertheless, to my understanding the front desk attendant is there to assist. So, upon arrival I saw a sign which stated the deposit fee is $250, this confused me immediately since my reservation stated that hotel policy requires $100. When I asked the attendant about the difference, she rolled her eyes and said that's the policy and I can't do anything about it. I immediately can tell she was aggravated with my question. However I brushed it off, and just continued with check in. The attendant then continued to charge me the deposit. When I checked my account I saw that I was being charge twice. The charges were $250 deposit and an additional charge for $250 declined. My bank flagged the transaction, so I asked her why were there two charges and not one total charged. That must've pushed the wrong button because as soon as I asked, she went off, stating if you don't like it then she can cancel your room right now and I can leave. I stepped back and tried to diffuse the situation because I still don't have a room key and it was my daughter's birthday. I explained that it wasn't a problem, I just need to understand what was going on. She said well I'm just going to cancel your room because I shouldn't have to explain anything you should've read your reservation. Now normally, her short attitude would have took me over the edge, but its my daughter's birthday and I just want her to have a good time. I asked for a manager, but according to her, she was the only one there so I continued to attempt to diffuse the situation and I say to her, I am the guest and as the front desk attendant I am asking you to explain the hotel policies as my reservation is not the same as what is being charged. She said that's it you just won't have a room since you have a problem. I called my travel agent, since she is more knowledgable about the way hotel policies and she advised me to get in touch with the general manager or coorporate office. After circling the conversation with the attendant she refused to proceed. I couldn't believe it especially since I was already charged and she also refused to cancel my reservation so I can get a refund. This ordeal ended with me calling corporate and the local police to get a refund. To top it off corporate couldnt change my reservation to a different location so my daughter's birthday was in shambles. My experience with sonesta has never been like this and I advocate for all my friends to use the hotel since their suites and customer service are normally top notch. As a travel member Sonesta - Parsippany Troy Hills has really failed to meet the level of excellence that Sonesta thrives for and I will not be returning to this...
Read moreBugs and spider webs with spiders in this place. I was sent by for Google reviews and for Star Ledger. On report of best Hotels during Pandemic. Specifically to come or bring Family. So I did that. 8 day stay. There is. Nothing as advertised..most expensive in area according to Google . Denied room service with an excuse, I purposely extend each night, and our room is cleaned. No way should a person be denied cleaning services during pandemic. As u see, my 20 month old was bit all over by some insect in room..and they now for 1st time say reserve day before, then again... Asian looking front desk guy is busy outside with a friend trying out 🏍 motorcycles, when more attention needed for paying customers. Though this is work, not paid by me .. it could be you. I am leaving tomm. I have seen enough for story to be published. COVID-19 practices out the door. I am hispanic, I say this for u really never know why others are treated with respect and get the very things I was denied. I was supposed to stay longer, but I can't, not at cost to daughter. She is very fragile. On new day..today..I decided to stay. Im glad.
In all fairness this Virus has us all on the edge. While what I write is true, overall I guess it is an OK place . I refer to Asian guy as such, only because I do not know his name. Surprisingly enough, while I may have had a bad experience, he was very nice today Nov. 10, 2020 at about 3pm. He made sure I got room service..dishwasher fixed..they had an exterminator come in specific to my issue, and since he saw we had a 20 month old....he told us of a wonderful park nearby, so for him...He actually made my experience much better. Also, no I do not believe it is because of a review or that I write for a living. I think he is professional, and does his job. As far as being out on motorbike, well its November..its been cold...we just got a few close to 80 degree days , who would not step out to enjoy weather. So I am raising stars..because of him.
Not fair to mention the staff who go over the top and beyond. Pedro is a staff member who does cleaning and grounds work...a little repairs in rooms. He has been great from start..Yes I am still here. As requested, since review was good and bad...so I was asked to stay at least till Monday. Okay area Basketball area is great for kids..soft ground... and a fire pit powered with gas. A Grille a nice one. Fitness center is open. Pool and spa closed due to COVID-19. The upsetting part is Pedro would not take a tip. But he does his Job and then some. At first he would escort me as it is a big property..and I was...

Good morning! I love Marriott and my loyalty has earned me Platinum Premier Elite status and Gold Lifetime status thus far! As a hotel resident, meaning I live in hotels every night; that is about 365 nights per year I am regrettably writing that this was the worst hotel experience ever! I endeavored to settle issues with the general manager Ms. Jeaneane Gold; I sent Gold an email = no reply! I called the front desk and I caught Gold as she answered and she said she would call me that evening (7/17) = she did not call!
Some issues include the following: 7/16/18 - housekeeper Ana? tended to our room. She did not make the sofa bed until I asked :-/. Also she left without replenishing the bath towels. We went out to hall to ask her & she said laundry was not done yet. We asked if she was going to deliver when ready; she said no & to call the front desk; not a proper response! -The room's flow is poor. When the sofa bed is utilized you cannot get around it to the floor lamp or window; for disabled this is a bigger challenge! Ramon, African-American evening mixer attendant threatened me with police he knows thus abusing taxpayer entity, an escort out of the gatehouse, does not care about my commitment to the Marriott brand. I innocently walked into the gatehouse to peruse the mixer offerings and grabbed 2 little bottles of water and 1 little can of pepsi; I perused the glass bottle beer offerings and that is when Ramon accosted me for no reason; why?! Tuesday 7/17 - cable/TV was out; for an hour? -The building is not safe! A door, for example, is rigged so it does not close and lock! This place has about as safe as a motel, not a hotel! Not safe and secure!! anti-Lebanese?, anti-disabled?, anti-LGBTQ?, perhaps?
As I wrote above this is truly regrettable as I had the elegance to go to the GM first via 2 methods and I was ignored. No safety! No management follow-through! No brilliance! Stay...
