I am a very easy going person and have never gone out of my way to write a negative review. However, I feel very strongly about writing a negative review about my experience today.
I got to my appointment today just on time. I was told that my massage therapist was running a little behind. This didn’t bother me at all, I don’t mind waiting, as long as my massage was the appropriate amount of time.
While waiting, I heard everything that was going on in the office because the door was open. I believe the woman in the office must have been the manager. She was making comments about another customer who wanted to freeze her account. She then was talking to a therapist asking him if he could work some more weekend days. The therapist had a lot to say about how he couldn’t because he already works too much and doesn’t get paid enough. I understand everyone is human, but I finally was able to free up time to use one of my many stocked up massages today and didn’t need to experience the stress other people were going through while waiting for my massage.
Then, to add to my stress, my massage therapist was first bossy and abrasive and then extremely chatty about her personal problems. She finally did quiet down, but the beginning of the massage was not at all relaxing. At the end she ran out while trying to tell me to upgrade to the hot stone massage next time.
I’ve been a member for many years and each massage I’ve had, the therapist has waited outside the door and given me some water and walked me out. I understand she was behind, but that wasn’t me fault.
Then, while checking out, I tipped 20% of the full, non-member amount. After doing this, I was told I also had a $15 balance. I was told that because the massages at this location are more expensive than the location I signed up at, Hoboken, that I had to pay the difference. We moved out of Hoboken years ago and I have never once been charged a balance while redeeming one of my massages.
Honestly, I am just trying to use up all of my massages and cancel, but it’s impossible because I have so many and once you cancel you only have a small window of time to redeem all of the massages that you have already paid for. I feel trapped and anxious about this membership in general at this point.
I will not be using up my massages at this location. I felt more stressed when I left than when I went in. I’ll be going to Parsippany instead, where I have always felt relaxed and...
Read moreVery disappointing. I recently came in for a prenatal massage (not many places offer it so I got very excited to know massage envy was “specialized”). Due to being in the last trimester, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome and the doctor recommended me massages to try and alleviate the pain in my arms and hands. So it started off by me calling in to schedule just one appointment, they were running a promotion that was $95 for a massage which I thought was reasonable. The girl over the phone did a great job upselling me to a 3 package deal. The day came and I went in for my massage, and I come to find out that they don’t even have the special pillow that massage therapists and chiropractors use for pregnant women where you are able to lay on your stomach because the pillow supports the belly. She stated “these were massage envy protocols”. Me, being already very upset, I tried making the best out of the situation so I decided to sit through it. She stated that I would only be able to lay on my sides (SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE FOR SOMEONE THATS COMING IN FOR PAIN IN ARMS AND HANDS) by lying on my side, it caused the pain in my Hands to get worse since I was cutting circulation making an experience that should of been extremely relaxing, extremely uncomfortable. I was just so upset and couldn’t wait for it to be done. Fast forward to now that I asked for a refund for the remainder two massages that I didn’t use I was told that I couldn’t get a refund on packages. I wasn’t asking for a full refund I was just asking for a por ration of the remaining two. They didn’t want to help me at all. It was such a waste and honestly horrible customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. If you are offering a prenatal massage, there definitely should be better...
Read moreWhere do I start, we have had a membership for over 7 years (started in Rockaway) we have busy schedules as I run a home improvement business. Today is the second time our appointment got confirmed via phone for 2pm and yet at 12 they asked why we were not there? We would never accept a noon Sunday appointment as we serve at our church every Sunday until 11 then go food shopping. Also an hour massage is at best 45 minutes, and they seem to not care that it’s 30% short on time. What I don’t understand is their policy of free massages but if you cancel you lose all your massages if you don’t deal with in a month. Number one you can never schedule a massage more than a week out as they just don’t have availability, I often wonder they always ask if you’re a new customer or not, and I think they hold spots for new customers. It’s hard enough bouncing from one location to another just to find a decent person and times available..... WARNING think long and hard before you sign up for a membership. I found the rockaway mall people outside Lord & Taylor’s to be better masseuses, the location and tables are not as nice but I will take this as they never had us wait more than 20 minutes without an appointment. Also only $50 plus tip for a FULL hour. I never write reviews this long but I feel like they hold you hostage, then a simple so sorry and that’s it! Waiting for manager to call me back but we are heading to the mall for a good massage. Sorely dissatisfied and...
