Everything started out great. I was upgrading to a previously owned- refurbished iPhone. There was also promotion going on that I would also get a free Verizon tablet. The iPhone came with no box, no manual, no documentation. I thought that was strange. I got the impression a previous customer handed that iPhone into the store and it was passed directly to me.
My friend is a Certified Apple Tech and I brought the iPhone to him to show him and he said the iPhone was not restored to factory settings. The iPhone was still linked to someoneās Apple ID. Brian said that it was a Verizon Store account that he forgot to sign out of. But on an iOS 10 device you cannot sign out of it without restoring it. My Apple Tech friend said that Brian's claims are not true because it was someone's personal @gmail account, such as the previous owner. It was not a Verizon account. It had nothing to do with Verizon.
Regardless of Brian's excuse of it being the Verizon account left in the iPhone or a previous owners account the bottom line is the iPhone would need to be restored to create a new account and Apple ID for the new owner. You are not supposed to give an iPhone linked to someone's account over to a new owner. Giving the iPhone to me in that condition is totally unprofessional.
My friend had to restore the iPhone to unlink that account and set everything up for me to make it my iPhone with my own Apple ID.
On a truly refurbished iPhone I should have also gotten GarageBand, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote all for free. Brian said I would have to pay extra for those apps. None of those apps came with the iPhone and they should have.
I did explain all the iPhone concerns and issues to Brian in person at the store and had him speak with my friend the Certified Apple Tech on the phone and you could see Brian was rattled and nervous by my friend's questions and his responses to what Brian was saying, so Brian puts the phone down and walks away from me and leaving my friend talking to know one. Real nice.
The FREE tablet was terrible. It would not charge up. I brought it back and Brian gave me another tablet, I brought it home and it did the exact same thing. It would not charge up. I brought that one back and decided that I did not want the FREE tablet. Keep in mind that it is not really FREE because there is a $40 activation fee and I would be charged $10. per month to have that "FREE" tablet. That is $120. per year. Yeah real FREE. It is very deceiving. A real rip off.
So I am at the counter returning the FREE tablet and I am told that I have to pay a $50. restocking fee for a FREE tablet that is also defective. So if that is not being scammed all around what is. Itās unbelievable. So as you can see I was out a total of $90. and nothing to show for it but frustration for that returned tablet.
Add on top of all that, we get the Verizon billing statement and we were being overcharged an extra $80. that Brian did admit was an error. That he did get corrected for us.
I told Brian that I wanted the $40. activation fee for the returned tablet refunded/waived. Brian refused to do that because he said he had done enough for me already by correcting the $80. Verizon over charge. That was his attitude. I persisted on the issue and he said Verizon customer service would not waive the tablet activation fee and if I donāt change the subject and stop talking about it that I would have to leave his store. Wow real nice. So I left the store, went home and called Verizon billing customer service and explained the free tablet fiasco to a really nice and understanding customer service person that got the $40. tablet activation fee waived for me. Something that Brian said could not be done.
This is by far the worst retail store experience that I have ever had. I really feel l was ripped off, lied to, deceived, and taken...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, my family started with this company 4 yrs ago we were stuck on a contract and finally I was able to part ways and get my own line. About a year ago I got my own line unlimited no contract the line itself was supposed to be $80 and $20 and change for the phone the guy who helped me had no idea what he was doing. Unfortunately my old phone was no longer good so I had to get a new one. This guy did a crazy change in it when I told him I wanted unlimited he went and did the opposite, I called and he told me oh no that was a mistake now I'll call to change it calls they tell him he can't change it then I wait and it took a month to get u limited. Then they started charging me crazy amounts of money I was calling the actual company, calling them and going to the one in rockaway in which they told me the Morris plains location is independently owned and they don't deal with them so I have to go back. This went on for months. Finally I called the company they were able to fix it and I started to get charged $108/month. Fine and reasonable now not even a year later all of a sudden my bill is $118 so I go over there and this guy said "Yes?" Shocked I wasn't even greeted but ok what do you expect nowadays right? So I told him I had a question about my bill he said "what's wrong" I said I'm getting charged $10 extra I want to know why? He said "$10?" I said yes $10 he was like oh it's taxes... And didn't even look into the computer or like even try... First off, all of a sudden I'm getting charged taxes??? He then finally said let me look when I gave him a look... I told him it's saying discount no longer available and then I asked what type of discount am I getting cause I been paying 108 for a min now. He said oh that happens but it's taxes so I can't do anything because it's taxes. So irrational I was like w.e and walked out. Even before this my can't had trouble with them. They hire people who are poorly trained and all they look for is that commission and they do not care of flushing you down the drain. We had a broken tablet and got it "replaced" and they ended up putting in the plan 2 tablets and charging for both ššš I really hate this store and I regret...

The salesman was trying to sell me a brand new iPhone when the issue I was having is well known to be repaired by Apple free of charge and got agitated when I decided to leave the store instead of buying a new phone.]
If I could leave zero stars I would! I have an iPhone 7 that has the "No Service" issue due to a motherboard issue that is well documented on the internet. Prior to entering the store I did not know about this issue or that Apple will repair free of charge any affected iPhone 7's. The salesman at the store told me that my phone was shot and that I must buy a new one due to, as he said, "the world wide motherboard issue affecting iPhone 7s". The man then tried to sell me a brand new phone with all sorts of odd fees that I've never encountered before. Since the man was aware of "the world wide motherboard issue" it is logical that he was also aware that Apple repairs the affected phones free of charge, indicating that he was trying to take advantage of the situation and was not conducting business in good faith. The man then got agitated when I decided to leave the store instead of buying a new phone right then. iPhones are expensive - this man was going to try to get me to pay at minimum $600, which is not an insignificant amount of money, instead of informing me that Apple is replacing the affected...
