Silver Dragon Games — Local services in Peoria

(Pros & Cons at end of review) --- I've been a member at Silver Dragon Games for a few months now, and my overall experience has been positive. While there are areas that could benefit from improvement, there are also notable strengths that contribute to its appeal.

The game selection at Silver Dragon Games is satisfactory, though there is room for expansion. A wider array of options would be appreciated. Despite this, I've managed to find several games that align with my interests, mitigating the somewhat limited selection.

Initially, boardgame nights were exclusively held on Wednesdays from 6 PM to closing time. This served as a great opportunity for interaction among enthusiasts sharing a common hobby. Importantly, Silver Dragon Games has recognized the demand for such events and has introduced boardgame nights on Sundays as well. This expansion has significantly augmented the communal experience by providing more opportunities for engaging gameplay and fostering social connections.

Addressing the economic aspect, it's worth noting the pricing structure for gameplay. Silver Dragon Games offers two options: a $30 monthly membership or a $10 fee per visit. Opting for the monthly membership proves economical for individuals who frequent the establishment regularly, as it effectively reduces the cost per visit. However, convincing acquaintances to participate sporadically at the $10 fee per session can pose a challenge. Evidently, a substantial portion of patrons is willing to accept the pricing structure, as attested by the consistent table reservations during evening hours.

On a promising note, Silver Dragon Games provides a Discord community platform for enthusiasts to engage. This serves as a valuable avenue for communication, facilitating game coordination and event updates. Notably, the establishment has plans to introduce an onsite bar, thus diversifying its offerings by incorporating beverage services.

Honest Review! First off and foremost I’d like to say that Hannah the store manager is PHENOMENAL. Her customer service, product knowledge and friendliness are off the charts! It was my first time visiting and she made it a memorable experience! I love the bar and decorations it really immerses you into the setting and the establishment is immaculately clean! The ambiance is enveloping and the experience was unequivocally the best I’ve had in a gaming store bar none.

You absolutely need to visit if you are interested in games or have been playing table tops and TCGs forever.

Now to the reason for a four star and not a five star. With as much of a positive experience that I had, there is one thing that really put a sour note at the end.

Let me clarify that we arrived as soon as the store opened and we were there for about a good hour or so. We had wanted to play the new TCG we had just purchased (spent round 50$) and had an almost perfect experience. However, we found that, to much dismay, we were going to have to pay 10$ PER PERSON to use a table.

I can understand that if there were other patrons in the store, but it was pretty much empty at the time we wanted to use the table and every table was empty. I say this not to diminish how amazing the store and staff are, but for complete transparency. 10$ for use of a table is steep. Steeper when it’s per player. Not to mention I’m sure you’re making plenty of profit solely on drinks, merchandise, and room rentals.

Ultimately we decided to take our purchase and leave.

I would definitely go back, but I probably will only go to purchase my goodies and then continue my adventures elsewhere.

Thanks again to Hanna for being awesome and keep up the good work! Might Change the rating someday but would be hard pressed unless that particular policy was changed. I would even accept 10$ per table if you absolutely have to charge for tables, but until then...

I’m hooked! You walk in and there’s so much to love! The owners and staff are so helpful and their excitement makes you excited! My favorite thing about them is they are SO welcoming to Female Gamers, However you Identify and Feel, and they will have your back of another customer is being rude or Anti-Nice to anyone. They set this sanctuary up as a Safe Place to let your inner child out and have fun, judgement free =]

The walls are all so beautiful, too!!! And you MUST go check out the bathrooms! When I visited they were sound proofing the back Private Room where Gunther (blue dragon) is kept. They let me name him 🥰

We’re excited to see the progression and this to become THE Gaming spot in all of Phoenix that people will have heard of and want to go check out as well!

This place is not just for “Cultured People” but can also be an amazing Starting Point for New Adventurers to begin their journey into making new friends and learning new ways to get your dopamine levels up! 10/10...
