Philly Cheese School — Local services in Philadelphia

I'll start by saying that the vibe is great. The booking process could not have been more pleasant and Julia was a delight to email with. Our actual class instructor (Alex I think?) was also delightful, super bubbly, friendly, and clearly passionate about cheese. The place itself is really cute: well designed decor, nicely laid out space.

That being said, I do think the "class" left a little to be desired. Maybe I was expecting it to be a bit more of a class (I mean it was called class and was hosted in a school), but it was really more of a tasting. I didn't feel like there was so much learning specifically about the cheeses and most of the gummy pairings (went to the cheese and gummy pairing class) seemed to have been done specifically more on vibe/intuition than anything of educational value. It also seemed like most of whatever education was happening was finished in about 30 minutes with the rest of the time being more of a Q&A, which I did end up learning some from.

Ultimately, if you're looking to have some good cheese in an interesting place, this is a good setting but I don't know that I would repay the class price for that. As an educational venue, I do think the place has a ton...

My boyfriend bought us two spots in a class for my birthday. This was a little pricier of a gift and we were looking forward to attending but we had a last minute emergency and unfortunately couldn’t make it. They don’t have a phone number to contact them, so once I found the form to contact them on their website, I sent them a message explaining this unfortunate situation. I saw their cancellation policy needed to be done 24 hours in advance for a refund, so I asked if we could pay some kind of fee and transfer our spots to another class because we weren’t interested in a refund and really wanted to attend a class.

I understand the refund/cancellation policy if you want to cancel in order to get a refund, but we just needed to reschedule and we were trying to keep it from being a complete loss in SOME way. The response I received essentially said, “No, but you’re welcome to buy new tickets at full price again!” No reschedule option, no partial credit towards tickets to another class, no small discount on future tickets, just pocketing the money we paid and moving along.

It’s a shame but if that’s how they choose to do business,...

What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, especially a cold winter's afternoon.

We had a party of four, with three of us going into the class with a big dislike of goat and sheep's cheese. Two of the three of us left the class not only really enjoying goat and sheep's cheese, but we also picked a sheep cheese as our favorite of the evening. Minds were blown.

We learned a lot about cheese, our hostess was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and we very much enjoyed our experience. We will most definitely be back for either another class or as a private event at some point. You cannot go wrong...
