My husband and I arrived at about 2:30 p.m. My husband went in ahead of me because he needed to use the restroom. I stayed behind to take our luggage and other items in and when I walked in, I saw a short, gray-haired man hand my husband a key. Obviously that key was for the restroom. That said alot without me ever knowing anything about this hotel/location. The short gray-haired man returned to the front desk and just stared at me without saying "Hello" or "may I help you?"—---NOTHING!! So I said "I have a reservation." Then he said "she will be right back." So I waited. My husband came out of the restroom then went outside to our vehicle. Then a woman came to the front desk (Mehak). She asked me if I had a reservation and I said I did. Then without even asking my name, etc. she just said there was going to be an early $40 check-in fee. She caught me by surprise so I said I needed to ask my husband. Then we both went back inside and we told Mehak that we have been Wyndham rewards members for many years and we have never been charged an early check-in fee. Then she said that we were good. Then we asked if she was going to ask our names for the reservation. She just kept saying that we were good. I tried showing her my phone where I had the email confirmation with my reservation and again she said we were good. All this time the short gray-haired man was standing next to her like if he is her bodyguard? After that, she told us our room number 302 and my husband got a cart for our luggage and belongings and we went upstairs. We went up the elevator to the 3rd floor all the way down the hall and there was a maid cart in front of our room. The housekeeping lady came out and could not speak. We told her that we were told our room was ready and I don't know if it was because she got scared or did not speak English so I started speaking to her in spanish. Still, she did not know what to say. She took out her cell phone and she looked like she was going to cry. My husband said for her to go ahead and call the front desk. She looked nervous so I asked her if she preferred to call Mehak or for us to speak with her. She told us to go ahead and speak with her. My husband went downstairs to speak to Mehak and I stayed with the cart with our luggage while I waited for the room to get cleaned and ready. A few minutes later, Mehak came up and went inside room 302 to talk to the housekeeper. Then Mehak came out and told me that she needed to mop and then the room would be ready. I said "You are kidding me. I need to go to the restroom." She told me I could go downstairs but I had my stuff and I couldn't leave it unattended. I mean, if you are giving a key for the restroom? That's why I wanted to use the restroom in my own room. Anyhow, Mehak did help me by taking the cart down the elevator and lending me the key to the restroom and when I came out of the restroom, my husband and I waited in the lobby until our room was ready and by that time it was 3pm. Although Mehak did help with bringing down the cart to the lobby, it was just an entire inconvenience with the check-in process. The next morning, we wanted to leave early. Mehak was at the front desk and again with the short, gray-haired man standing next to her while Mehak told me and my husband that we could not go out the front door because it was locked until after breakfast to keep out the homeless population and we could only go out the side and back doors. My husband told Mehak that most of our stay was an inconvenience. The short gray-haired man just chuckled and went into the kitchen by the breakfast area. We had NO idea that the doors are locked at a certain hour. Also, it is not our problem that we picked a hotel in an undesirable location. I mean, if you are having problems with the homeless, you should get tight security or tough looking security guards to stand in front of the front door!! OVERALL: TOTAL INCONVENIENCE &...
Read moreStayed at la Quinta on McDowell in PHX. I went out and was back after 900pm . The front door was locked. Sign said locked at 845pm. used side door. That to was locked. went to pool door. It to was locked- all doors to get in hotel to our room was locked. We were locked out. We called and called front desk. No one answered. Then.by chance a staff came by and let us in. Later we saw 2 more families also locked out. Basically if we left again we'd not be able to get in. So now we are locked in. Many others expressed this in the am. I asked at time of reservation if pool hot tub working. It was confirmed. At check in, we asked again. Went to use hot tub . It was freezing cold. I reported it to front desk. They didn't know it didn't work . Or how to heat it up. Note we went out to check the pool location prior to using it. Someone was in pool area. This person said you don't need a key to get in. He just reach over the gate and the handle will open it. there were a couple people in the pool area that weren't staying at the hotel that's how they got in. Front desk was notified. So we go to take a shower and notice there are several hairs on the side of the tub and on the wall of the shower stall. Note the couple pictures. I didn't post them all. Then noticed all the rust and the stains and the enamel peeling and chipping in the tub. Gross you don't want to shower in that shower. I went to unwrap the plastic on the plastic cups. I noted ripped holes that looked worn and unsanitary. I didn't use. I then went to use the TV. It took a while with a delay to turn the channels and the volume. When I went to turn the TV off it took the two of us and at least 10 minutes to get the remote button to work to turn the TV off. After bkft. We were in our room at 930 am. All of a sudden our room door opened. Housekeeping walked in. They didn't knock , or call out nothing. She just walked in. We asked her why she didn't knock and walked in. She looked surprised and said she was checking if we needed extra towels. I said we were checking out. And she shouldn't be walking in. I reported all this to day staff front desk lady. She wouldn't say her name. Had no name badge on. She seemed unfazed and didn't care. I asked for the owner manager. The lady said she wouldn't be in till Mon. Which is odd bc other staff said she'd be in this am. I saw her her card on counter -Tasha...
Read moreGreat stay at La Quinta PHX/I10. Receptionists were all helpful and polite, no stress check-in/out. I found this LQ location to be genuinely pet-friendly, pets were allowed practically everywhere without the bat of an eye. Loved the overall cleanliness here, so impressive— I felt comfortable and safe throughout my stay in this regard. The location itself was decently contemporary overall, not dated or run-down. Amenities were of good quality, I liked the basic variety offered. Their gym was pretty impressive, and the breakfast bar was good. I also appreciated that my room was decently stocked with basic necessities and minor wants. Room AC and blackout curtains were great, and good cable TV was available to pass the time although WiFi was bad. I felt generally safe at this LQ location, security measures like well lit public areas and key card entrance absolutely everywhere put me at ease. I will say I found the hotel to be rather small overall. I also felt the green turf around back for pets was a little too musty for comfort, bare rocks would’ve felt more sanitary. All in all, I’m content and impressed with my experience here— I’m happy to stay again :)
UPDATE: Had my second stay here and most of the above still applies, love consistency. Room cleanliness was not AS great as before— bathroom floor was sticky, crumbs on carpet, crumbs in the sheets. Main/only? kitchen crew member has been notably rude each stay (older brunette woman, raccoon eyes). My first stay, she was openly annoyed when I simply asked her when breakfast ends as she put out more food. My second stay, she was outright respectful when I let her know I finished the waffle batter as she came out to survey the dining area. I told her out of courtesy (to her), but she cut off the far back end of my sentence with a loud/cold “OKAY” and rolled her eyes away from me. She was openly polite and friendly to the following guests that approached her. I’ve never interacted w this woman outside of what’s been mentioned here. That said, I don’t understand what her personal issue was with me a total stranger. She needs to work on her professionalism and customer service skills as a...
