I’d been following this place on Instagram and heard nothing but good things, so I was really excited to try it out! When we arrived, it was somewhat full—which I took as a good sign that the food would be great.
We ordered tacos de asada, a chicharrón vampiro, and birria. • The asada tacos were really good—flavorful and cooked just right! • The chicharrón vampiro was a bit too greasy for my taste. • The birria was okay, but it lacked flavor and didn’t quite meet my expectations.

Read moreI came to Phoenix a week ago. When I landed, I googled “best tacos in Phoenix” and Tacos Los Vales was one of the options. Only about 15 minutes from the airport, we decided to check it out. Well, let me put it this way, in one week, I’ve been here three times. I love tacos, I love birria tacos with consomé, and I had the best birria tacos in my life here. The first two times, I got three quesabirria tacos with consomé. My third time, I realized I could order the consomé with carne….when I come back again, I will only order it with carne. I knew I was in for a treat when I walked in and I was the only gringo in a packed restaurant at 11:30 am. I also tried the chicharrón taco with green chile sauce and it was delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you want really authentic Mexican tacos, this is the place to be. Tacos Los Vales will be my first stop on my next...
