Ordered takeout from Canton Express on a recent business trip to Dallas. The restaurant is a simple storefront with some tables but it seems the main business is takeout. I ordered online and the order went through fine with just one issue I’ll describe shortly. When I got to the restaurant my order was ready and the cashier was friendly and efficient. Breakdown of my order and my thoughts: Pot Stickers: The menu said steamed or fried. I requested pan fried (because, of course) but they came deep fried. That aside, the filling was flavorful and they weren’t bad. I couldn’t tell if they were hand made but I suspect not, more likely of the frozen variety you can get at any good Asian market. Chicken & Broccoli: Traditional brown sauce, white meat chicken. Good flavor. There was an option to order extra chicken which I did but that was probably a mistake. There was plenty of chicken to be sure but not enough broccoli, but that’s on me not the restaurant. Chicken Fried Rice: Decent. I always order my fried rice without peas and carrots (a sure sign of Americanized food) and then see what other vegetables might be present. There were none in this order, so peas and carrots must be all that they add typically. Still, the flavor was good and there was a decent amount of chicken present. WonTon Soup: This was a pleasant surprise versus most basic won ton soups you can get. There were different vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage in the soup and it was quite good. Spring Roll: Basic spring roll, good flavor. Nothing spectacular but it was tasty. All in all, I enjoyed my order from here and would probably go back the next time I’m...
Read moreSince moving to Texas in 2013, we have been looking for a Chinese restaurant to replace our favorite in Michigan. Over two year's time we tried several, but just couldn't find it. Finally, at the Canton Express we found one that exceeds it. The restaurant is small, casual and friendly; the service is fast; the food is excellent and the manager, Michelle, is a pleasure. Many of the clientele, like us, are regulars that she knows by name and just how we like our dishes. They make their own sauces and their ingredients are all high quality. Our particular favorites are the Egg Plant with Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce. Ask for extra sauce, serve it over steamed rice and let the sauce soak through---delightful. Their General Tao's Chicken is even better than our old favorite: also order it with lots of extra sauce and serve over steamed rice--heavenly. I am truly perplexed by some of the less favorable reviews, Michelle bends over backward to insure that everything is to your taste, or she'll remake the order, no questions asked. Needless to say it's our go-to-Chinese-place: we're there once or twice a week and keep finding delicious new things to try.

Read moreDespite the restaurant being 30 minutes until close, I still received high-quality food! I ordered their fried dumplings, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, and a spring roll. I'm a huge critic when it comes to dumpling sauces, and most places I've been can't seem to get it right, but Canton Express did! The sauce is a nice sweet and salty mix that went perfectly with the dumplings. The dumplings themselves were decent; they were a little soggy, but that could just be because my order took a while to get delivered. The fried rice was a pretty large serving and came piping hot , but it lacked a little in flavor. I spiced it up by adding my own special soy sauce and some chili oil, which made it 10× better. The sesame chicken has a great flavor, I just wish the chicken was a little less soggy, which once again could be due to the delivery time. Lastly, the spring roll was good, pretty standard flavor. I do think everything was a tad expensive, I spent almost $60 for 2 entrees and 2 little appetizers. Overall, I would definitely order from here again, maybe just during peak...
