The cashiers need some customer service training. I recently visited for the first time and was shocked at how understaffed it was. The lack of cashiers/long lines caused the cashier I interacted with to be quite hostile. I came prepared with my own reusable bag and placed it in the cart that the cashier uses to put your purchases. I politely asked if she could please place my items in the large bag I provided. (For reference, I only bought about 5-10 small items. I was not doing a giant family multi-cart haul like most people do.)
The cashier's response was to glare and say, "I'm a cashier, not a bagger. You can figure it out." I replied, "Okay, no need to be so harsh. It was just a question. A simple no would have worked." She then rolled her eyes and carelessly threw my items in the cart, including a glass wine bottle, purposely missing the reusable bag I put in there, as if to further drive her statement home. I didn't understand why my question was deemed so offensive, especially since I put my bag INSIDE her cart and held it open to help. It wouldn't take any extra effort on her part to use my bag.
Publix prices may be sky high, but at least their employees have class and tact. I'd rather pay a little more to be treated with some decency. A little kindness goes a long way. I worked my fair share of minimum wage and retail jobs through college/young adulthood, and never treated anyone that way. It doesn't matter how unhappy you are with your position, that has nothing to do with me. There's no need to take out your frustrations on a customer who was...
Read moreI have learned to love Aldi as a brand. The prices are great and if you know what you can and cannot get there, you will do well in the long run…financially. This location however, is ALWAYS FILTHY. It’s closest to my home, adjacent to a well cared for Target, and in an excellent location. One would expect the cleanliness that reflects Aldi’s brand and suburban location. However on walking up I am always greeted by overflowing garbage receptacles, pavement that is covered in gunk and floors inside that are perpetually filthy. I’m not so much concerned about the self check out stations as I am about how gross they are. On my last trip there, I didn’t even want to place my shopping bag on the collection side of the scanner or have the food Touch the machine at all. And none of the others were in a better state. The staff or management clearly doesn’t care about the condition of the store during business hours and I’ve visited as many as. 3x in a week so my sample size is pretty robust. Each time I go hoping that it will have been cleaned up and am sorely disappointed. This has been for the better part of a year… and this location is MAYBE 3 years old. I won’t be returning to this store and will patronize other locations; I can’t stomach buying my food in a place that looks icky. Very off brand for this clean, no-nonsense brand.
UPDATE: I caved and made a quick stop for juice and waffles on the evening of Sunday 10/4/24. Surprise surprise; still disgusting. Literally everything listed above...
Read moreDoing our weekly shopping at the aldis on west broward Blvd today when an employee parked a pallette right in the middle of the isle blocking it in both directions. I politely asked if she could move it as the flow of customers in the isle was backing up in both directions ,she didnt pay me any attention not a wave not I'll be right with you. I walked around the pallette and she said " you can't touch that " , I replied " im not im waiting for you to please move it so we all can get by " she proceeded to move it and I said " see that wasn't difficult " to which she replied " you may leave the store now or im calling the police " i replied " we're going to check out " she repeated that I leave and she called 911 saying I was causing a disturbance. I walked to the register and in a louder voiced I said " I need a manager please " to which she said the police were on the way . I handed my wife my credit card and asked for the car keys and left . Thirty seconds later my wife is behind me saying she wouldn't let her check out. To be treated this way by an employee of a store we spend over 200.00 a week to shop at for years is wrong and unacceptable. She was a young African American woman with glasses . Aldis employees don't wear...
