My stay at the Travel Lodge by Wyndham Rapid City/Black Hills, South Dakota was the worst I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve stayed at many hotels/motels in my lifetime. I booked a three-bed suite on August 19, 2024 and it was confirmed. One year in advance of the Sturgis 2025 event. On May 23, 2025, I received an email once again confirming my stay. One week prior to the event, I called the hotel to confirm availability. The person I spoke with could not help me and provided an 800 number for me to call. I called the number and received confirmation of availability. I was traveling over 1300 miles for this event and wanted assurance that there will be a place to stay.|Upon checking in at the hotel, I was informed that my three-bed suite was not available and was just given to another group prior to my arrival. You can imagine how mad I was. I told the shift manager (Davina) that I had booked this room a year in advance and she informed me that there was no way that I could’ve booked the room a year ago. At the time, the hotel was being renovated, and the room would not have been available to book. She made accommodations for us by giving us a two-bedroom suite and a rollway bed. We had no other choice but to accept. No price difference was offered.|We moved our luggage to the room and found the room was terrible. Listed below were the issues with the room:|1. The door was not hung correctly and was hard to open. We had to put our shoulder into the door to open it and had to assure that we pulled the door close upon leaving.|2. Due to the force required to open the door, the doorknob slammed into a mirror that was a makeshift door for a closet. The mirror could have shattered, leaving glass all over the room.|3. The closet did not have a hanger rod and hangers.|4. There were no suitcase racks available.|5. The couch and chairs were severely stained. We did not want to sit on them due to how filthy they looked.|6. The TV remote control did not work.|7. Dead insects were noticed by the baseboards.|8. The chest of drawers were filled with extra linen and bedspreads. We could not put any of our clothing into the drawers.|9. Handles for the chest drawers were not screwed in.|10. The paint appeared to not match the doors and the walls. Looks like someone used whatever color paint available for touch up.|We notified the deficiencies to the shift manager (Davina) and all we received were excuses. She offered to have the hanger rod installed while we were there. We agreed with the stipulation we wanted to be present while it was being installed, due to security reasons. We attended an event and returned to find the rod had been installed. We spoke with the manager again, and she did not offer an explanation why it was installed while we were gone. The housekeeping staff came in to replace the linens, but left our door open, due to the improper door fitment. Again, we spoke to the manager and again she offered no explanation. I advised her that we would have to take an inventory of our belongings and if there was anything missing, it would be her responsibility. I asked if I could speak to the hotel manager (Samantha), but she was not available for days, due to personal reasons.|I was finally able to speak with Samantha; however, I kept receiving apologies and excuses. Nothing was resolved. We had, had enough. We ended our stay two days early. I was assured that I would receive a refund for the two days. Haven’t seen it yet. I should receive the entire amount refunded, due to the complete mess of booking and the ultra-poor condition of the room that we had to endure. I am a member of Wyndham, and I can assure everyone this is the worst experience I have ever had. DO NOT BOOK THE TRAVELODGE IN RAPID CITY,...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE. DIRTY SHEETS. URINE SOAKED BED. Upon arrival the building was dim with tweakers walking around, didn’t feel safe to unload the car. When walking into the building there was no one at the front desk. Smelt bad. waited 20 minutes before yelling “hello” down the hallway. an employee finally came out of a room with someone else who was tweaked out. I should’ve left then and never looked back but with a few things going on in town every hotel around was booked. We were told to walk into the side doors that would unlock with our room key, but they were unlocked regardless which felt very unsafe. Took a shower in the dirty shower only to sit down on the bed to the strongest smell of urine. I pulled up the covers and one sheet down was a large urine puddle, still almost wet, not even attempted to be washed. Which means whoever is cleaning this place is only changing the top sheet. Long story short we left and never got a 220$ refund. And trying to get the refund at the front desk felt as if I should’ve called the police because of how sketchy the place was. Again we had to wait there for 20 minutes before an employee came. The employee told us that it was a privately owned hotel along with a few others around it that we were unaware of hence why I wasn’t able to get my money back. This place is ghetto and rachet, the pool had bugs in and around it due to the building being under construction. the outside door to the pool was off with plexiglass trying to cover it but was falling off with the wind, air blowing wide open inside the hotel. If ur thinking “im just going to do it I have no choice” you’re better off just driving to the next town like we are at 11:33 pm cause I am disgusted everything is either extremely outdated or patch work construction. The carpet was squishy when you walked on it. And the hot tub by the pool is a literal bath tub like one you would see in a master bathroom. I was extremely confused with the entire setup of the hotel. I will be posting photos of the urine soaked bed.
I’ve seen other reviews on here claiming the place to be “nice, clean, good & polite staff”, those are all fake and I know this because we made sure to get the name of the employee who checked us in, the same employee that seems to be bragging about himself claiming to be a guest on here leaving reviews. This whole place is a scam. Again it is PRIVATELY owned. Not a corporation just some dude taking...
Read moreThis hotel is definitely not what is advertised. Online it said dog friendly, upon arriving there was a sign that said it was no longer pet friendly. After hearing 1-2 other dogs barking i decided to take my chances. Online it said indoor pool. The pool is now a tool room for the construction that is going on that is also not shown online. Nobody told us that we had to go next door to use a pool until i saw a sign at check out. We checked in on Thursday and Saturday nobody had came and taken our trash or gave us clean towels so we had to find someone and he informed us we weren’t on his list for that day! We aren’t on your list to take trash out and get new towels? After saying again i just need towels then he said put your trash and towels in the hall and I’ll pick it up! I was in disbelief. Also there are signs everywhere stating no trespassers unless you’re a guest which i assume is for all the homeless walking around. Our room key would only work 1-2 times and then had to walk back down to the office to get new ones and 4 times there was a sign on the desk that they will be back. So we were then locked out of our room and couldn’t get in because they weren’t there to fix the issue. I wasn’t the only one as there were other people in the lobby waiting for the same issue. I definitely won’t be staying here again. The only plus side to this hotel is the millstone family restaurant in front of the hotel! It was...
