**Update—this listing SHOWS a full swimming pool!!!! The management reply about my review is absurd and continues on the madness. Your advertisements all show a full working pool. I walked across the parking lot to have a meal at LuLu’s. I know damn well I’m leaving a proper & accurate review for the overpriced filthy place I stayed. Nice try though. Clean up your crap hole of a dump. Give your staff the proper supplies needed to do a thorough job. Hope the city contracts you soon!! —- May 9, 2025 a Friday night stay—For filth/dirt video context I was only here ONE night! UNSAFE-condemned rooms above us since July 2024, NO functioning swimming pool as advertised, NO working cable TV—lady said it would be fixed by the end of the week—-it was a Friday, the floors and baseboards are absolutely DISGUSTING as though they haven’t been swept or mopped in weeks leaving your bare feet covered in black dirt, black hair of various lengths on floor and in sink. I should’ve charged a deposit from them to stay here. Unfortunately I booked through a 3rd party so non-refundable. When I went and asked for a few cleaning rags one of the rags was covered in tangles of long black hair so I gave it back. The front desk clerk walked away to take a phone call w/o giving me any cleaner spray I asked for so I walked to the cart and lady cleaning a room nearby to ask if she had extra cleaner. She had 1 bottle of cleaner on her cart that was the color of windex. From my observations I’d say the staff is overworked and underpaid! In the current state To charge anything more than $50 a night to stay here is nuts. Ownership is clearly absent. Being in the 90’s I was grateful the AC worked well. But FALSE advertising for a swimming pool and cable tv. How have you Owner been able to just leave rooms unsafe for almost a year now on a TOP level after a car wreck?! I’m shocked the city hasn’t intervened. When my Mom and I came back around 9pm from Glowing Wild there was a white, bald headed, wife beater wearing guy on 2nd floor outside screaming and yelling, cussing at another person so didn’t feel safe. Place is an extremely overpriced, highly neglected dump.

OVERALL OPINION - This is a good, safe, reasonably priced hotel with amazing employees, clean accommodations and in a good location. We would stay here again. We checked in roughly between 3-4pm and were greeted by 2 extremely friendly front desk gentlemen. I sincerely apologize, but I cannot recall their names. Check in was fast and simple (credit card, ID, vehicle info). I asked for restaurant recommendations and they kindly provided a plethora of suggestions. We did have 2 vehicles and there was always lots of parking available at no charge, so that was really great. The room itself was very nice, updated and clean. There is laminate flooring throughout, comfortable beds, nice linens, a large tv, desk with chair, bright lighting, mini fridge and microwave. We were placed into a western-ish facing room on the second floor above the lobby and just immediately up the stairwell (no elevators). Upon entering, the room was extremely hot since the outside temperature was 102°. We quickly turned the AC on, but since the back of the AC unit faces the sun, it wasn't very efficient in cooling the space (ever). The lowest setting on the AC was 60°, but it never felt that way at anytime, even throughout the night. We were also disappointed to find the extra bedroom did not have AC at all, just an oscillating floor fan. We asked to be relocated to room that wouldn't catch the afternoon sun, but none were available. The tv was nice and large, but the reception quality was poor. The picture was always staticky and could not be adjusted through the tv's settings. The bathroom had one major issue. The curtain rod is curved outward from the tub, so it shortens the length of the curtain, making it difficult to keep the curtain inside the tub no matter what you do. We ended up having to put towels alongside the tub to keep the water from going all over the floor. Lastly, the pool is not currently open. THIS IS ADVERTISED BY THE HOTEL, so we did know about this in advance. Not a big deal at all, especially since Whiskeytown Lake is just a short drive away.

A. Rooms- nothing special nor fancy. What you see in the picture is what you get. But be careful on the crawling insect in the bed.😅 B. Service- I gave them 1, you know why? 1. I sent them a msg on my 1st day to modify my booking date. The receptionist kept on telling me that I cannot cancel my booking. I spoke to him personally and he was even showing to me that I cannot cancel it since the agreement was it has to be at least 24 hours from the day it has to be cancelled. Not sure if they know the difference of cancelling the booking and modifying the dates of the booking. He gave me answer that his manager is not around. My first day was Sunday and today is Tuesday. Until now they havent responded to my email/request. I guess their manager is having a vacation somewhere else and he doesnt care whats going on to his business. 2. Internet/wifi issues. on the first, there was no issue. then right now, I run an internet speed test and guess what? It didnt even went to 1mbps per minute. I called the receptionist and he responded that he needs to call his manager. I was not born yesterday, Red Roof Inn! You can adjust it! I own a wifi at home. And I dont know why you need to make it slower. This is included in our payment. 3. Location- what I like about the location is that safeway is just walking distance. But other than that, no other nearby restaurants.

Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Unsafe, Dishonest, and Deeply Unprofessional update Tried speaking with Sam the owner but kept avoiding us and refusing to address our issues. Handed phone off to front desk and continued to dismiss me. DO NOT STAY HERE! They charged us $30 for property damage because our room was in “shambles” however we took a video of the room before checking out and nothing was out of place besides the bed not being made and some towels hung up in the bathroom.

I’m not someone who usually leaves reviews, but I feel a responsibility to warn others after the absolutely horrendous experience I had at this hotel. If you’re considering staying here, don’t—you will regret it.

I arrived with a confirmed reservation and had already paid a deposit. Stayed for 4 nights. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with indifference and disrespect. Despite trying to address issues directly, I was constantly given conflicting information by different staff members, and no one seemed to know what was going on. Every time I asked for help, I got a different excuse or explanation, and the manager refused to speak with us directly—only communicating through front desk staff like we were being avoided. It was deeply unprofessional and incredibly frustrating. We also have two dogs and was not told or advertised about a second pet fee (which we were happy to pay) but only mentioned after we brought these issues up.

The room itself was absolutely disgusting. The sheets were stained, and though I didn’t see the bugs, I woke up with clear bed bug bites, which was terrifying and completely unacceptable. We asked for fresh sheets three times due to this and a bunch of staining. During the day we would be gone visiting family. We would go to the front desk to inform maids we needed new bedding I was told we would and yet every evening after returning the bed were not made and had no clean sheets. I was expected to sleep in that room again or walk away from the money I had already paid. I felt completely trapped and dismissed.

Even worse, the room service that was advertised wasn’t available at all. I asked multiple times and kept being told something different by each staff member. Again—no accountability, just more excuses.

When I tried escalating the situation, the owner was rude, dismissive, and downright hostile, refusing to accept responsibility or offer any kind of solution. And to top it off, I overheard the manager speaking disrespectfully to employees, which only made the already uncomfortable atmosphere feel worse. It’s clear the issues here run deep—from toxic management to total disregard for guest wellbeing. Were told we could speak with manager early morning, when we walked down to the front desk to speak with Sam the Owner, we were told he was on the phone outside talking to insurance (it was 6 am) but okay. We waited but needed to get on the road. We saw him multiple times and he was not on the phone, but clearly avoiding us. Were told he would call by noon, never did. Only to find out we were charged $30 for “property damage”. Even though there wasn’t a description for the supposed damage we know they are trying to pin the preexisting staining on us.

This wasn’t just a bad stay—it was a health risk, a waste of money, and a complete failure in customer service. Between the bed bug bites, stained bedding, unreliable staff communication, nonexistent service, and unreachable management, this hotel should be avoided at all costs.

Do not stay here. It’s unsafe, mismanaged, and a textbook example of how not to run a hospitality business. Save yourself the stress and...

Christine or Christina (not 100% sure on the name) was amazing. I called prior to my arrival and confirmed everything, including being able to stay in the room until around 2 or 3pm on the day of check out. She said it was all great and set, she had even set notes in my record. Now I knew there would be a small fee that Christine had discussed with me which I didn’t mind. When I got there she was amazing and so welcoming. It was amazing, totally opposite of the reviews I had seen online about this place.

Dee is horrendous. I called down to the main office, after a housekeeper had come to my room, to verify that I could stay until 2 or 3pm. She immediately flipped her lid. She states that Christine should never had done that, that it wasn’t allowed, that the entire hotel is booked so there is absolutely no way for it to happen. When I mentioned the notes in my record and the small fee she got even more upset and stated that it’s a whole new day so unless I wanted to pay for another day then I’d have to leave. She asked ‘well what are your circumstances to need to stay that late’ I said that I was in school until 2 or 3 on a zoom call, she said ‘well why didn’t you make other accommodations then. When I asked how long I had to collect my things she again stated ‘well you can’t stay until 2 or 3’ I said that I understood but needed time to gather my things, she said I had until 12 (which was only 15 mins away). She said that she would call the owner and see what they wanted to do and call me back. Feeling so un-welcomed I immediately started packing and getting ready to leave. I had less then 10 minutes to pack and so I did. Then she called me back and said that the owner was fine with it, and I just had to pay that small fee. I agreed just to have more time to pack and let my instructor know that I was needing to leave the hotel last minute. After I gathered my things I left and went down to the front to get a receipt. She said ‘I can’t give you your receipt until the housekeepers check your room’. I said okay, thank you and was leaving. She then stopped me and said ‘aren’t you the guy who’s going to stay until 2pm?’ I said, not anymore I don’t feel welcomed. She laughed at me and said ‘okay, bye then’. So I left. Fast forward about 15 mins and she called me. She said ‘I don’t know if we have an issue but I have laryngitis so that’s just my voice. I tried to ask for your email address so I can email your receipt to you. What is your email Erick?’ I said ‘my name isn’t even Erick’ she said ‘oh okay, oh well’ I told her that I’ve taken care of patients with laryngitis because I work in the medical field and that the issue isn’t laryngitis, it’s that she’s rude, condescending, short, has bad customer service and is disrespectful’ she said ‘I have outstanding customer service’ when I said ‘it’s not your place to disagree with the customer, you’re literally arguing with me right now about your tone with me’ she kept on but I felt so disrespected I hung up. Christine and everyone else was amazing but Dee...

During my stay, I made a new online reservation to stay longer. Instead of checking me out and back in the clerk extended my stay. Which would still show me as checked in, so try to make sense of this...the next clerk checked me as a no show at 3am (his words) and charged it to my deposit. Then he said I didn't have a reservation for the current night and that I had checked out the day before. On top of that, he said I owed money. I said, "For what... the pretend pay per view because I paid online?". I also mentioned how I do not have a reservation and how I was a no-show when obviously I have been there 5 days in a row already. I told them I had a surgical procedure and needed to go soon, and if they wanted to change my room, it had to be done immediately. She asked when i was leaving and when i would be back. Before I left, I set my earrbuds on the dresser underneath the TV. When I returned, they were gone. I scoured my room for 3 days, and they were nowhere to be found. Also, some of my items that were in the drawer of the nightstand were taken out and were sitting on top of it. The manager had told me she fixed it. I asked about my deposit, and she said to tell the clerk when I checked out that it was under the first reservation. I did, and he said it showed being held for a no show and damages to the room, BUT there is a note to refund me, but because it was at zero, he couldn't. I asked how there could be damages tacked on if nobody had been in my room the whole time I had been there. I want to note that this clerk, 11/16/2024 @ 09:30 am, was an incredible help, was patient, and kind with me. He called me a few hours later after figuring out what was happening to tell me he was able to refund my deposit. I asked about the damages, and even he had no idea why they put that in the notes. Also...whomever wrote that note did not add the description of the damages. So, what was going on here? Seems intentionally done by the clerk that didn't check me in and out correctly at 06:35am Tuesday morning. The same clerk that kindly brought me fresh towels at 2am. I would love to find out why he sabotaged my stay. The same clerk that brought me fresh towels at 2 am. I want to mention that during this ridiculousness, he told me that one of my past stays a couple of weeks before had me as a no-show as well even though I was...
