My wife and I have 3 small children, love coffee and travel a lot. We had passed the Coffee Bar quite a few times during our time in Redding and finally decided to park and check it out. The moment we stepped in we were not recognized or welcomed in any way. We stood at the bar waiting to be recognized and order. The two gentlemen were too busy talking about their own lives to serve us. We then decided we would go to the restroom with our children, giving the two guys the benefit of the doubt. I've worked customer service a ton and value good service. And I always try to give second chances. We went to the bathroom and it was out of paper towels (it was mid-morning) and it was out of soap. At that point we were wondering if this coffee shop was JUST about coffee and not anything else. It had a cool looking decor but that was about it. We then went around the corner to be served again. We stared at the menu and were still not acknowledged. I then stepped up to the counter to really test the boundaries and still, neither of the two guys gave me even the slightest attention. They were facing in my direction still talking about their lives, doing nothing work related. We then decided to leave and were greatly disappointed. I'm sure this place has great coffee but I would much rather choose Starbucks over this place. And that is saying something. I recommend places a lot from the different places of traveled but not only will I not recommend this place but will actually bring it up to let others know NOT to go there. I like good coffee a lot. But not at the expense of horrible service. Coffee Bar, after being in customer service for 15 years, my advice to you is, serve more than just coffee. Serve...
Read morePricey for the quality. I ordered the toast with tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. I was told it was good sourdough bread-but it tasted more like French bread. The toast was cut too thick to get a proper toasting. The surface was toasted but the center was soggy from the oil. The tomatoes were bland (should be very flavorful for this time of year) and cold. They should, in the least, be room temperature. The mozzarella tasted from Costco, and was NOT melted. Just two cold slices of cheese. It had two large basil leaves, which were of great flavor. It was topped with lots of oil and pepper. It took about 12 minutes to make, and was $10.50; I hope some of it was at least organic. The chai had that “off flavor” that often comes from concentrate. The coffee, however was very good. Nice even flavor, not too bold and toasty sweet and I believe they posted the coffee was organic. The food, though, for the price, needs to be improved upon. Nice clean modern atmosphere. As a frequent traveler, mostly for work, I have enjoyed much better food for much less. I would enjoy a coffee here again, but would be hesitant to...
Read moreI’m quiet a regular due to convenience, but i avoid when for leisure - Whilst the Latte is Good 3/4 of the time. The Decor clean, bright and aesthetically pleasing. The ambience/mood and vibe along with the customer service is not. As soon as you enter; being sensitive to the atmosphere - I can immediately feel the snobbishness from the customers that are attracted to the place, nose up kind of vibe... 50% of my experience with the staff have been the same way. Shockingly, my one time encounter with the owner all in Black has been the same too.
Being no foreigner to high-end establishments which serve excellence, whilst still being down to earth and humble. I detest atmospheres and vibes especially from the host, which are better than thou. I look forward to hopefully seeing what is generally a lovely coffee shop in Redding become truly great by seeing its culture improve in being more warm...
