After a month or two having learnt about Amazing Alheri, I picked today at around 1 PM PST to have my first taste of their African cuisine, and I am NOT disappointed! The place is called The Knoshers. It is a small lilā area, not many tables, and at the time I was the only customer there. The menu is minimal as well: four entrees, two drinks, one dessert. I went with the Poundo & Egusi and the Zobo tea. The stuff is spinach cooked with melon seeds, beef and West African spice medley, served with pounded yam. The dish was served in a container, and it didnāt take long at all to arrive. I was taught how it was eaten at Africa: take a pinch of the yam, use it to scoop up some of the āsoupā I think I heard her call it, then just take a bite, all by hand. Eating utensils were provided, but I played by the rules all the way through. Plus I added the hot sauce to the dish. That mound of yam is like mashed potatoes but with a consistency of dough just about. Iāve never had yam before either, but I could use more yam in my life after this! There are some unique flavors and the hot sauce is mild, but it is comfort food at its finest and I enjoyed every bite! The Zobo tea is great too! Canāt go wrong with ginger and hibiscus! The staff is friendly, and they seem to be good friends with each other at that. Well, thatās the end of my little rant. Iām going to order from Amazing Alheri again at a later date, and I encourage anyone to give...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust passing through and happened to see the sign. None of our group has tried much of any African food, so we were excited to try a bunch of things.
We tried the two fruit drinks, Zobo and Zinziber. Both are quite gingery and very delicious. I thought they would be too much with food that also had a lot of spice, but surprisingly the ginger actually helps them hold up.
We tried the fish, beef, fufu, and hand pies. The meats were all really perfectly cooked for each dish, especially the fish was very soft and flavorful salmon. The rice and plantains were also excellent sides. The hand pies had a really tasty and flakey pastry. For us, the Fufu was the most interesting and new; a real punch in the face of flavor, but balanced by eating with the dough was a really great experience.
Basically, all the food was awesome and had great variety. I wish we had pictures but we ate it all so fast. The atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. Thank...

They also had these really good drinks as you can see my husband finished his before we even left the restaurant. Iām still drinking mine and love the strong ginger...
