Super 8 by Wyndham Redding — Hotel in Redding

This is not my first time staying here, and it won't be my last. This is not my first review, and it will not be my last. I'd like to start off by saying I have worked for Wyndham hotels. I have done front desk, housekeeping, breakfast attending. This review is solely for training purposes, of the staff at this facility. I really do hope that these reviews are read and taken seriously because I will be contacting another Wyndham hotel owner so that he can make sure that this gets addressed. The staff were amazing they were nice they were courteous they were on it they were great. They always have been. The housekeeping needs some work. So we found a hair in the shower before we even unpacked. When I folded the blankets back I found one single hair on the sheet and one single hair on the middle blanket. And because I've done housekeeping I understand that even when you pull the linens out of the dryer hair sticks to things. However we were trained as you're folding the linen to pull the hairs off and if you're making a bed and there's a hair on the sheet to make sure you remove it. Sheets were very wrinkled. Most people don't check hotel rooms like I do, but because I've done housekeeping I know what to look for. The headboards that's mounted to the wall were covered in dust, the corners of the bedside table cabinet had dust. there is dried shampoo or conditioner on the back of the toilet that wasn't wiped off. The mirror had a cracked wooden frame, for being a Wyndham hotel I would expect that to be replaced. There was hard water stain leaking out of the faucet again for being a Wyndham hotel I would expect our faucet to be changed. The AC filters had not been cleaned. We stayed in a double Queen room and the beds were horribly squeaky. The housekeepers in the morning when vacuuming the Halls do not care if they run the vacuum into the door. I feel that your staff should have more respect for the guests that may or may not be...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Super 8 by Wyndham Redding. We travel with our dog (Chocolate Labrador) and needed a place that accepts dogs. We had several choices, some less expensive and some more expensive. We chose the middle-ground with this Super 8 and were very pleased with our selection. Upon arrival, we checked-in and noticed that the reception and lobby areas were very clean and tidy. Our room was very well appointed; hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner/soap, flat-screen TV, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, clock-radio, and iron. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. We had a king-sized bed which was comfortable. This property also has a pool (and hot tub), which is nice to have in Redding since it can get quite hot (they provide pool towels). The pool was well-maintained and there were plenty of chairs/tables/lounge chairs for guests; we met several other guests by the pool and had such a nice time poolside. Free daily breakfast; waffle maker (along with butter and syrup), fresh juice, coffee, yogurt, bread, toaster, jam, cereal, milk, and fresh fruit. This is a budget property, but don't let that deter you; it's clean, nice amenities, friendly staff, all at a great price. The management and staff were so nice to our dog. It reminded me of the places we stayed at when I was kid on family road-trips.We will definitely stay here again....

Cleanliness is expected in a hotel/motel. It is all I am concerned with, especially when booking budget accommodations. I don't need frills, I need clean. Unfortunately we did not find that at this Super8 location.

Pros: friendly staff outdoor pool with towels available convenient to highway on/offramp and gas stations

Cons: crumbs, clipped nails, and a napkin were found inside my made up bed as I went to go to sleep debris and something with what appeared to be blood, on the floor around beds floor transition strip broken in half, laying on floor bathroom fan fixture dangling from ceiling bed skirt ripped and falling off the bed lobby area smells of stale ashtrays AC unit in room 'ticked' all night long (made a loud ticking noise) entryway to lobby littered with cigarette butts and trash pool area littered with cigarette butts and trash

Honestly I would have left if my two children hadn't already been sound asleep when I discovered the debris in my bed. I did not sleep as I was then itchy all night from the thought of what was in my bed, and the loud ticking of the AC unit was maddening. I will not be staying here again and would advise other travelers to look elsewhere. Management needs to step it up in this motel and help their staff correct...
