We stayed at Holiday Inn’s Avid Hotel in March 2024. We first checked into the Holliday Inn down the road to find we did not have a reservation there. I showed them my reservation and she said that’s down the road. It’s Holiday Inns’ economy hotel. ||We arrived and was greeted very happily. I asked, “What is the Avid chain?” He explained that this chain focuses on a good nights sleep. Comfortable beds, room darkening shades, great coffee in the morning. They keep the prices lower by not having microwaves in the rooms, the ice bucket is near the ice machines, the rooms are a tad smaller. Those were small changes that we adjusted to quite easily. ||What we liked best:|The beds, firm but pillowy, large TV, and no carpet in room. We traveled with our small dog and in hotels with carpets he sniffs for quite sometime. But in this hotel he’s sniffed around and was done quickly. You know the floor is clean! Unlike who knows what is left with carpets. ||Breakfast was minimal, but nice selection of things to take as you travel. They even had almond milk for cereal or coffee, big plus fro me! The coffee was the best. It is grounded and brewed for each cup. It was the smoothest coffee I’d ever had in a mid-priced hotel! There were other small details to numerous to mention here.||What was less then best:|The rooms are shorter, not a whole lot of space between the ends of the bed and the wall. It’s not the type of room you’d want to hangout in for days. But for just sleeping and moving on, it’s not bad. The walk in shower was very nice but it’s smaller than standard showers and if your a very wide person you may have a tight squeeze getting in through the opening with the glass shower doors. ||All that said, I’d still rate it a 5 star and we’d definitely stay with that...
Read moreAfter checking in at the front desk, I went directly to my assigned room, #121. I turned-on the light so I could check the bed which is my normal habit at hotels. I immediately noticed black specks on the bed sheets and a human hair between the fitted sheet and the mattress. Needless to say, I was completely grossed out and returned to the front desk. I informed the front desk worker, I think his name is Matt what I had found on the bed sheets and that I did not feel comfortable staying in that room. He offered me another room but I declined because like I stated, I was completely grossed out with the unsanitary conditions on the bed. I asked him to go with me to the room so I could show him what I had found. He inspected the bed as well and also noticed the black specks on the sheets. Upon further inspection, we also found larger black specks the bed cover/bed spread. Matt agreed that the bed was dirty. I was completely freaked out and disgusted that the black specks could have been bed bugs or remnants of bugs and I could not stay in that room or bed with my 2 small dogs in fear that I could be taking those bugs with me to my home or they could hide in my dogs fur or even bite them. I asked Matt for a refund because I could not stay there under those unsanitary room conditions. He stated that I would need to contact the manager in the morning because he is not authorized to give refunds. I agreed and left the hotel. I was so completely grossed out that I continued on my journey to my destination in central Florida without even attempting to find another hotel. Read moreSo far, the reservations office didn't get my reservation correct, and the girl at the front desk is not a person for customer service. Have 95 with me and asked for a 1st level and a dog. 100.00. Well got here and was sent to 4th floor. We had just got in room and front desk just about demand me to come back down and sign wavier and berated me for not telling about a pet. When reservation was made, that was all disclosed. So I was pissed by now, and then she had the gall to tell me that i didn't ask when I checked in about 1st and that she was not available? But she came up with a room. Now you have to sign in to their WIFI and connect and get QR code, and it doesn't work. Yet again, the girl at front has no clue. So at least we have regular tv. Why not just have the TV hooked up to internet all ready. We are so glad we didn't sign up for their club. Rooms are nice. No coffee or microwave in any of the rooms. Must walk to the front to get that amenity
Unfortunately I called your crew to talk to them about the BS the front desk was getting. The girl and I were at the front desk then called to talk about the issues the phone rang in the managers office and the girl ran back there to tell him it was second he hung on me so I called again and surprisingly no answer. The owners group should train people better about billing cycles and tax percentages. Some are not idiots. All you wanted was for us to sign up for a reward program. Thank goodness we didn't..will not stay again or ever.
