Meh. These stars are based on our last visit here. I've never had a horrible" experience. But this last visit was a letdown. I am honestly, unsure why we had the experience we did. I used to BE a server for 8 years of my life and I swear I am NOT judging harshly. If anyone is lenient and understanding when it comes to serving mistakes.. It is me. If anyone else would have been in our place they probably would have just left. Our last experience will put a damper on us going back here for a while. There was a 5-minute wait to be sat, so this will tell you how busy" they were. We were promptly greeted by a very sweet and upbeat server and I was so sure that our service was going to be amazing. We waited nearly 30 plus minutes to get our appetizer. No biggie. I thought it was a little busy and maybe they are short-staffed. Or the server forgot to put in our order. But.. we waited... and waited... and waited for our food for over an entire hour AFTER we waited 30 minutes for our appetizer (fried Pickles) It felt like instead of our server being honest with us... we were just, completely avoided at this point. It began to feel frustrating but we didn't cause a scene about it. Servers are not perfect and make mistakes. However, no manager was sent to our table but came and cleaned the one we were next to. The server avoided us completely other than telling us our food was ready but she was still waiting for it to come out. This was 10 minutes before it came and us waiting for an entire hour at this point. Literally. So an ideal time of being "checked on" (after being given our 30-minute wait appetizer) that entire hour & a half of waiting was that 1x (no refills). It was just strange to me. I don't know if she forgot to put our order in or what. I ended up asking for our food to be put in to-go boxes because at this point.. it was kinda frustrating having 2 very young kids waiting for over an hour and a half for food to arrive. We love Cracker barrel. And usually have wonderful experiences here. So I am super bummed we had the experience we did. Our food was good but I don't think we even ate it until the next day because we waited so long no one was hungry anymore. My point is... mistakes are okay. But take responsibility for serving mistakes and never, ever, ever, ignore a customer if you make a mistake or if the cook does. Send a manager and let them know hey... we care but it is going to be a while. Especially, if it is an hour-and-a-half wait time for food. Other than this one experience we've always had good food and service here. And the atmosphere and gift shop are...
Read moreWent to this location as my step son chose it for his birthday. I was sent ahead to get the table while the others were in route from another location. I get there and the girl at the podium tells me that she cannot give me a table for seven unless all individuals are present.
The restaurant was not busy, there was no wait for a table...so why couldn't they give it to me?? When I tried to explain that they were coming i was told that when "most of the people get here" I could ask for a table then.
Already fed up i chose to wait outside for the others to arrive as they were all coming in another vehicle. When they arrived, suddenly the over head system announces "Last call party of seven!"
So...you wouldn't give us the table...yet you reserved it for us anyway and didn't bother to say anything to me about it??
We finally got to our table, got our orders and drinks placed and then began the wait. Drinks did not come right away, only showing up shortly before our food, and when the food arrived they did not bring out the biscuits we ordered and they did not bring out the sides of fries from my two step kids orders.
When we told them this they went and got one of the fries and said they're "waiting for fresh biscuits". By this time I was in need of a refill on my drink, which took forever to get as our server had to help run meals for other tables.
When she finally came back around again she had clearly forgotten our biscuit order as well as the still missing order of fries. She went back to get both, but shortly returned stating "they did not leave me any biscuits. Would you be willing to wait for another batch?". By this time we were almost finished with our meals so we said no to both biscuitsand fries. She disappeared, seemingly on the verge of tears.
Not longer after that a different person came with the missing order of fries, after we had already told our server we did not want them at this point. "Well im just going to leave them here because its gonna be on the ticket!"
At this point we asked for the manager who showed up and discounted our meal, at which time we paid and left.
Clearly this store is understaffed and it really showed tonight. A child shouldn't feel the need to apologize to his family about the place he chose to go out to for his birthday because the service was bad, but that is what we are dealing with now.
Weather or not the family returns to this store is their call, but personally I will not be dinning here again if I can help it.
From refusing to seat my group to the poor service received once we were seated...this is a place no longer...
