I'm not the type that writes reviews good or bad, but I had to put this out there because I feel that everyone needs to know! The staff that works here OMG! Wonderful and so patient. Even from day one. The lady that checked me in was so helpful. And didn't get upset with me for all of my questions. I could tell she was busy, but still took time to treat me like a priority. A little back story is I just relocated from California and got a job offer from Majestic Star Casino. I wanted to be back in the Midwest to be closer to family, but I liked the country atmosphere and didn't want to be in Indianapolis, so Merrillville and surrounding area seemed like the perfect spot. The people here... It's almost like love at first site you know? California has a very different attitude. So I know I'm in the right spot, but long story short; I was finishing up with my training and then we had the "stay home" proclamation put in place and I got a call from my job stating that they would be giving a call back to resume by 3/30. Today is 3/30... no call. But mind you my check out date was 3/29 so worry was getting the best of me anyway as I am a single mother. Funds were limited and I had no where to go. I was speaking to someone at the front desk and the director overheard and stepped in immediately! Almost no questions asked. She figured out a payment plan that allowed me and my children to not be homeless and even let me keep money in my pocket to keep my phone on. I am forever grateful! Not to mention the room is like a full size studio apartment. Fridge microwave stove everything I need! Clean and fully equipped with full desk, storage space and huge bathroom! This is one of the best communities I have been in, in a while and hopefully I will be just as good to the people of our community as I have been treated. I have my own business which has been halted by the "stay home" order, but I'm sure in due time everything will be ok. I strongly believe that. I'm so thankful that a lot of stress has been taken away by these people's kindness. You don't understand the stress a single mother goes through when her back is up against the wall, but they helped me be able to have time to think. To any other single mothers out there that feel the weight of the world on their shoulders and any men as well. We have to remember to breathe and pray and sit still long enough to hear proper instruction. These are unclear times, everyone is going through something, please know that you are not forgotten! We can make it through this! I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm a little emotional right now. I would have never thought a company of this magnitude would work with me, understandably. But they went out of their way to help me. Thank you so so much! Your facilities are so clean and quiet - and I'm on a floor with pets! A little barking (very rarely) kids laughing, that's it. I would love to be a part of a company that is there for their people. Thank you for giving such great customer service and taking the intimidation out of the process. I was floored with very few options. Thank you for taking some of the stress away me and my children appreciate you all! Thank...
Read moreWe will not stay here again. I've stayed at hotels for the same price or lower and received better accommodations. The Red Roof Inn being one of them.
Pros: -The hotel was clean. This is most likely due to the fact that it is a new hotel.
Cons: -After taking my credit card and checking me in the girl at the front desk went through a long skit which makes you re think your decision to book here. They are a NON- Refundable Hotel. Under no circumstances do they issue refunds. We conveniently weren't told this until after she ran out credit card and checked us in. Had I known that up front we would have stayed somewhere else. The fact that they make it a priority to tell you this is a red flag. -No ice machine. The woman at the front desk said it was because they gave us ice trays in the room. Not the same thing. -No coffee maker in room. We chose this hotel because of the kitchen. The kitchen does not come stocked with anything other than ice trays. No spoon, fork, cup, plate, pot...nothing. Oh, but you could purchase them from the front desk. I was told this is because ppl steal them. That's kinds a risk you take when you open a hotel business. Ppl steal towels and wash cloths too. Thank God they at least didn't skimp on that. Although you dont receive any hand towels. -You cannot get room service unless you are staying for a week or longer. I was told this is because they are an "extended stay hotel" which doesnt justify anything because I have stayed at plenty of "extended stay" hotels and was able to get room service. By room service I mean bed service (new towels, bed made). To elaborate on that, if you need new towels or linens there is a very cheap laundry basket in your room. You have to bring your dirty linens to the front desk and they will swap them out for new linens. The Wi-Fi sucks. Even though there were two of us staying in one room and we both registered with the front desk, only one person can be signed onto the wi-fi at a time, per room. And to be honest it didnt matter because it was so choppy it just kept kicking me off anyway. Of course you could upgrade for a fee. -The room only came stocked with two rolls of toilet tissue, two bath towels, two wash cloths, two ice trays, two cheap flat pillows and a small tube of shampoo/conditioner in one. No hand towels, hand soap, bath soap, iron, hair dryer... Granted these things aren't the best of quality anyway, but it's something you notice when the hotel skimps out on it. If I am staying at a hotel for any period of time I do not want to have to go out and buy an iron or hair dryer just for a temporary stay. -This hotel only offers queen size beds. -It's supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but on our floor there was someone smoking every day. The smell of fresh cigarette smoke hit us every time we left our room. Management didnt seem to care because we were there for 4 days and it was every day. On the second day we were awaken by the smell of someone smoking weed as well as the smell of fresh cigarette smoke. No...
Read moreAs a first time customer at your hotel, I was excited! For months, I had watched the building process in anticipation. I was very pleased to see the finished outcome! Sadly, the exterior of the building proved to be more inviting than the staff. On my very first encounter, I met the uninviting day manger. I stood at the desk for nearly 5 minutes, as she talked to someone in the office and didn't address me. Nevertheless, I ignored the gesture. Still excited to check in, I patiently waited. I was very disappointed to find out that I was given the wrong check in information. Then, to top everything off that happened during check-in, my room was not clean. There were very noticeable stains and hair on my bedding and items left in room from prior guests. I had to wait nearly an hour for clean bedding. Then, I was asked to wait outside my room for 15 minutes, as my room was finally cleaned.
My second visit was even more disastrous! I arrived and attempted to check in. This time, the front desk attendant was nowhere to be found for nearly 20 minutes. Once again, my room was not ready. To make matters worst the manger had the most insensitive attitude regarding the situation that I've ever encountered! I ended up canceling my room. I would rather have slept in my car than to be a customer in this hotel! I ask for the corporate phone number and was told to "google" it. It is very sad that she is the face of your business! I will never come to this hotel again and I will never recommend...
