The service on this place is horrible. The lady who greeted us and the waiter is mean. They told us we didn’t have a reservation, WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE PLACE, SO WE APOLOGIZED AND ASKED IF we can make a reservation AT THAT TIME, because the place is EMPTY anyways, no customer at that time, meaning NO CUSTOMERS AT ALL. THEN, They finally let us in, AND YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER, IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME TO EAT AT THIS PLACE, AND THE FOOD IS FOREIGN TO US, SO AS WE WERE ORDERING, WE WERE ASKING THE LADY WHO WERE TAKING OUR ORDERS ABOUT THE FOOD DETAILS OR DESCRIPTION, OH MAN!, BIG MISTAKE, SHE WAS ANGRY AND UPSET THAT WE WERE ASKING, AS IF WE WERE ASKING FOR HER FIRST BORN. Now, our orders finally came, the dishes did not taste bad, but it doesn’t look good at all. THEIR FOOD IS OVERPRICED, AND THE SERVING IS VERY LITTLE. Another thing, there was a huge group of us that were there, as we were talking and laughing, the lady SERVER and the man waiter, TOLD US TWICE TO BE QUIET, WHEN WE ARE NOT BOTHERING OR OFFENDING ANYONE, BECAUSE THERE WASN’T ANYONE THERE BUT US, NO OTHER CUSTOMERS AT ALL, and yet they are telling us how to laugh quietly and maybe not to conversate with each other, when the mere fact of going out for lunch or dinner with family and friends is to have quality time and great conversation. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS REALLY BAD, THE FOOD IS NOT THAT GREAT AND IT’S OVERPRICED, AND IF YOU HAVE COMPANY WHO IS NEW WITH THAI FOOD, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASK ANY OF THE FOOD SERVERS, BECAUSE THEY WILL GET MAD AT YOU, LASTLY, IF YOU GO THERE AS A FAMILY OR GROUPS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENJOY YOUR CONVERSATION EVEN IF YOU RESERVE THE WHOLE PLACE TO YOURSELF, BECAUSE THEY WILL TELL YOU TO BE QUIET AND JUST STARE AT EACH OTHER. IF THERE’S A ZERO STAR, I WILL RATE...

Read moreMy wife and I were happy to discover a thai restaurant nearby. We are mostly vegan/vegetarian and having another dining option that includes food we can eat is a bonus.
The decor is quirky but nice. The space was previously a Mexican restaurant that had good food but shabby interior. Now it's quite nice and comfortable (see picture). The mix of Buddha lounge music, superhero posters, and blue Christmas tree was original and charming for me.
My wife got the pad thai and it was excellent. I had the pad see ew (see picture). And we share the spring rolls (see picture) and spicy tofu salad (see picture) appetizers.
The pad thai was excellent as noted. The pad see ew was quite good; but a bit sparse on the broccoli. There was a veggie option and a tofu option; I chose the tofu option, so perhaps the veggie option would have improved the broccoli. Since it's listed as a major ingredient I just wanted more. The tofu was plentiful I must say.
The spring rolls were very tasty but very greasy. The wrap was a thin, almost phyllo dough and it just soaked up too much of the grease. Next time (and there will be a next time) we'll order the Summer Wraps minus shrimp to get that fresh spring roll taste.
The spicy tofu salad was awesome; simply the best one I've had in years.
The wait staff were patient, friendly, and low-key. Great job.
Overall we quite enjoyed Spice Thai and it's a welcome addition to our little cuisine scene here in the nowhere near Chicago. I had to give four rather than five due to the lack of broccoli flowers and greasy veggie rolls, but don't let anything stop you from going to Spice Thai; it's pretty great and we're going to...
