Avoid this place at all costs. The only reason I'm giving one star is because the rating system won't allow zero.
My family (+ extended family) reserved three rooms at this "hotel" while we were in town for my Great Aunt's funeral.
My room was mostly ok. Refrigerator barely worked, but was good enough for drinks overnight. Bathroom had no toilet paper in it upon arrival and the shower was in poor condition.
My mother's room had extra guests for her stay. I.E. Cockroaches. My Uncle's room wasn't even prepared. When he opened the door, the floor was covered in water and the beds were still in disarray from the previous guests.
That doesn't even cover it all. The room in between my mother and I had people there that were living there full time. They had people coming and knocking on the door constantly. They would stay for a couple of minutes, then leave again. I'm thinking that could only be people dealing drugs out of the hotel room.
The people in this room partied ALL NIGHT long, despite us calling the front desk and getting no answer, THEN calling the Russel County police TWICE.
My brother and I complained to the front desk the following morning and the gentleman at the desk said that the people in that room had been arrested and there shouldn't be a problem the following night.
The next night we were leaving for dinner and a couple pulled in and were getting their bags out of their car. I casually mentioned to them they should check the condition of their room before unpacking. The husband open the door to the room and all of the furniture in the room was piled in the middle. A hotel employee nearby said "Oh, I think they just sprayed for bedbugs in there."
Upon returning from dinner, the people that were supposedly in jail were back and partying again. My brother called the police a third time. While the police were there, we decided that the hotel wasn't a safe place to be because if people are dealing drugs out of the room they probably have guns. We felt it wasn't worth the risk to stay after the cops had been there the third time and the residents of that room might be looking to retaliate.
So we asked the officer to stay on the premises while we packed up our vehicles and left town.
Called Oyo customer service the next day and was hung up on by the first representative because I was asking for a refund.
Called again, and the next representative put me on hold while he called the hotel. Apparently, the hotel denied a refund because "My family was rude." The rep escalated my refund request and I was sent an email three days later categorically denying and refund because they basically don't want to.
I've called the Kentucky State Police to report the drug dealing at the hotel and the Russel County Health Department to report the poor conditions...
Read moreWow…we looked at the hotel and compared it to others in the area. Decided on this hotel. Got there and were greeted with a sign that says no refunds after 15 minutes which automatically worried me. Got the check in completed and rushed to check room rather than go to dinner first. So thankful we did!
The room rate was a LOT more than quoted on phone a half hour earlier and we were quoted a number that included taxes and fees.
The room was gross. Water stains on walls and ceiling, beds literally were not made. Sheets were haphazard and a cover thrown over them. No tucking and no neater than a 5 yr old would do. The covers were the 80s style vs what is on site. The room smelled musty and the floor had debris on it. Mold in toilet and bathtub was rusted slightly. Just a hard no.
Returned to front desk and asked for a refund. She asked why and I tried hard to be nice about it by simply saying the pictures do not match the room at all. She then said she had no control over the pictures and was really defensive. Tried to tell me that kind of room would be a lot more and they don’t even have one like that. I insisted I needed a refund. She got downright hateful and tore up the receipt very dramatic and told me not to come back.
We had planned to host a wedding party there for this fall, for everyone coming in from out of state. We’ll be renting those stays...
Read moreMotel is run-down, sloppily maintained. Desk staff was found to be extremely unhelpful. Booked a reservation through the motel desk a a month in advance and was quoted a reasonable price. When arrived and checked in, I was charged asignificantly higher price. When asked why, I was told that the higher price is charged due to the event going on at the time and it is normal to raise the price. I explained that I was promised a lower price, I was told that they could refund my payment and that I could go elsewhere. (There were no other rooms available in the area due to the popularity of the event going on at the time.) I tried to explain that I had had a lower price booked with them, but they could not find my confirmation number I had been given in their computer, even though they had my name showing my reservation. I was rudely told, pay the higher price or move on. The motel is extremely run down. The toilet seat was broken and would slide off the stool. Dirt and mold had built up in cracks and corners. The non-smoking room had been recently smoked in. Cigarette burns were found in the sheets on one bed. The paint on the walls was poorly touched up. Conversely, I felt sorry for the cleaning staff. They did the best they could, regarding the facility they had to work with. I stayed two nights, but if other establishments had been available, I would have...
