A team of coworkers and I stayed during the Michigan Policy Conference that took place on Mackinac Island Memorial Day week. We ferried back and forth for three days of the conference. And, we loved our stay at The Boardwalk Hotel and would definitely stay again, without exception. The staff was amazing - from Zack to the bartenders, housekeepers, and of course, owners Chris and Rene. We were overwhelmed with their level of service and hospitality. They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs - including a late night pick up from the ferry, Chris entertaining us on the piano, keeping the bar open late and letting us order food ahead of time to be waiting for us when we arrived back. Breakfast was delightful - the jams were so good I bought one of each variety to take home. The bar is beautiful and serves up some of the best cocktails - my favorite was a Bee's Knees, which was not on the menu. I was absolutely delighted to have likely one of the best versions yet. The food was on point - pretty to look at and delicious to eat. We sat in every corner of that living room - working during the early hours and hanging out together in the later hours. It was simply enjoyable being in such surroundings - entertaining and so comfortable. I loved the decor so much and our group found ourselves telling each other about their room and even the main floor restrooms. It feels like home, but so much nicer and well put together! It was indeed a lovely stay with genuinely hospitable hosts. I hope a room is available when I do return but I fear everyone will soon find out about this hidden gem and availability will be very limited. If you are considering a stay, book a room now and get on with your plans. You won't be sorry - Chris, Rene and their team will...
Read moreWow! We had the most wonderful stay at the newly renovated and reopened Boardwalk Hotel in St. Ignace. What a gem! This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We will definitely be coming back to this best kept secret. You can tell that the new owners put in a lot of thought, attention to detail, quality, and love into this hip, yet classic sanctuary, all while paying homage to the history and architecture of the 1920’s building. ||The interior design is just stunning all while being inviting, comfortable, and having a homey feeling. The lobby has such a great vibe. The cocktails and the food were EXCELLENT and we loved the live music in the evenings. ||Our room was beautiful. Everything was so well designed and thought out from the stellar mattress and linens to all the special amenities (guest basket with treats, the toiletries, the little kitchenette area). They really thought of every little detail and spared no expense in making everything top notch.||We started our mornings in their breakfast room (delicious and so quaint) and ended our day in the lobby with drinks at the Fireworx Bar, while playing games and listening to live music. ||One of the best things about this place was the customer service (a rare find these days). The new owners and the staff were so welcoming and attentive and made us feel at home. We will...
Read moreWe chose this little gem after looking for hotels in the Mackinac City area May 26-29. We wanted access to the ferry to Mackinac Island (it's walking distance) as well as hiking in the UP. We are so happy to have found it! Super cute room, gorgeous bathroom with great towels (though the shower didn't get very hot). Great bed, big closet, nice sitting area, four windows in Ming King room. Air conditioning/heat is controlled by the hotel, so we had one cool night, one hot night and then another cool night under the big comforter.|The downstairs gathering area is nice, the breakfast room is so pretty too. All the employees were great and bent over backwards for us. They hang out after work too as several are musicians and played at night. The second floor is pretty sound proof and music doesn't go late. We caught a bit of Catholic Girls Gone Bad and Charlie & Friends and both were great! We would definitely stay again and maybe do a couple nights on Mackinac Island too. Mackinac City is completely torn up for road construction and has bumper to bumper traffic, so we're glad we...
