If you're visiting St Ignace, you've gotta stop at the Galley! The food is made fresh to order and tastes amazing! We can all recommend their whitefish or walleye served with seasonal veggies ( green beans, sliced carrots, and broccoli sautéed on butter and seasoned deliciously), the whitefish dip, summer salad with grilled chicken, and kids' meals including the burgers and grilled cheese. The servers are helpful and polite, but most importantly, the Galley is reliable. What I mean here is the fact that their website says they're open until 10pm on Sundays, and they truly are as one of not that many local restaurants that have false information on their web pages (Buoys By The Bay). We were happy to dine at the Galley twice during our weekend trip to Mackinac Island, and the food and the service were excellent on both occasions. The only thing that needs some improvement is the decor as it is slightly outdated. Still, we recommend the Galley in St,Ignace!

It was alright! I was expecting a little more with the price tag, but I know how things are going post covid. My steak (NY Strip) was pretty basic. Not a ton of flavor nor a good sear, however it was cooked the way I requested; medium well. So I can appreciate that, but just with some more flavor. The fries I had as well needed some seasoning and some finer touches. The standout for me was the coleslaw. I don't even like coleslaw, but that was pretty damn good! My wife had the prime rib which we were both excited for, but that as well was a little lackluster... Seemed as if the meat was cooked well and super tender, but not a ton of flavor. Anyhow; not a bad stop. They could use a little this and that, but it's worth a stop if you're in the area.

So I must honestly say I was kinda disappointed in this meal. It looks amazing on the plate, but it's lacking in flavor all across the board. The veggies were very bland, the prime rib, which was $30 of our bill just wasn't really worth it, I've honestly had better cuts of meat from Texas Roadhouse. The salad had a number of pieces of lettuce that were past their prime, but once picked off, were fine. I don't know. For the prices, I expected better food. My boyfriend and I did have a $70+ bill, but the staff was polite, they appeared to be spread very thin, only getting to the table once, never refilled our drinks, only came back to collect the check... Idk folks, just kinda really wasn't worth it, I'll let you decide for yourselves.

Disaster! Food was Horrible and service was laughable.

We have never had a worse meal as a family. Note all my other reviews are positive, this is my first negative review only with the sincere hope of sparing another family a terrible experience...

Note the new owners haven't updated the website so the menu is nothing like what you see online. They have about 25% of the food and none of it is fresh now.

The food, including the "NY strip steaks" had clearly been frozen for around a year. Even the raw carrots server with an appetizer had been frozen!

Not only was the food awful but they messed up the order MANY times. Wife ordered a baked potato, they brought fries. We said "we ordered a baked potato" and they said "oh yea we dont have those only frozen food". My wife then ordered the sweet potato tots as she didn't want fries, only for them to bring another batch of fries. The server then told us they were out of sweet patato tots too.. My son asked for a side of bacon (strips) for his kid burger. They brought bacon bits. When I noted the difference the server said they don't have strips of bacon. When I explained that she should have told us that rather than bringing bacon bits the difference she just walked away later coming back with cold strips of bacon.

The jalapeño poppers have zero jalapeños. And the ranch cup they put on the plate was so old that when we took the lid off it was basically jello, couldn't even dip anything into it.

45 minutes after being seated I asked if we could have waters. I got them with the check. The list goes on and on but I wish I took a picture of our GREY steaks that were nothing but fat and were obviously freezer burned. Also, they clearly weren't NY Strip Steaks, as they were paper thing and marbled all over and around with wide and long runs of fat. I doubt they would even be classified as steak by a butcher...

I could go on with a much larger list. Especially with the lack of competent service that would have been tolerated had the food been edible. We left 90% of the food on the table and still had to pay $125 for an disaster of a meal. Thankfully we had some kind bars for the kids to eat on the way back to the hotel.

We are just waiting for us to get intensely ill, we are terrified we ate any of that "food". Go to any other restaurant but NOT this...

I should have known something was up when this place was dead quiet at 7:00 while all of the other restaurants nearby had an hour wait or longer, but alas here we are.

The positives: My cocktail was pretty good, they call it a Yooper Lemonade which seems to basically be a whiskey sour mixed with lemonade. No complaints from me there.

The baked potato I got was good, so I’m glad they managed not to mess that up.

Our server was a good balance of attentive without being overbearing.

The neutrals: My girlfriend’s seared stuffed salmon had good flavor, but the “stuffed” bit went less than halfway into the piece of fish. I feel bad for the chef’s girlfriend if that’s what he considers “stuffed.”

The negatives:

We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer. What came out were some French bread wedges with a tiny drizzle of balsamic, chopped tomatoes, and what appeared to be shredded Mexican blend cheese. That’s right, the blend of cheddars and Monterrey jacks that you normally put on your homemeade tacos. And they called it bruschetta.

The coleslaw was bland and flavorless, didn’t taste like there was any pepper (or other seasoning) or any vinegar/acid.

My New York Strip steak was an embarrassment to steaks. This piece of meat was so thin, it genuinely seemed like they bought a strip steak from the store, and split it in half height-wise to be able to sell two steaks from it. I ordered it medium-rare, and I think I am being VERY generous to the chef if I call it medium well. I felt like a rare gemstone miner trying to find the pink center.

The price was ludicrous. Considering what we got, nearly $100 for a meal of two entrees, one appetizer, one alcoholic drink, and one soda is bordering on criminal. I would have felt somewhat ripped off paying half of what we did.

This was easily the worst meal of our trip, and we tried...

Can't judge the food b/c we never received any. The four of us (one of us was a 4 y/o who ended up having more patience then us adults who came in hungry) came in on an early Friday afternoon, the hostess was very nice and sat us at the table with the best view of the water. There was only two other tables with people already eating so the place was basically empty. We thought, cool, shouldn't take long to get our food so we can walk around town afterwards. Took 10 mins for the waitress to come take our drink order so we also ordered our food since we already looked over the menu while waiting. So we sat and waited and waited, waitress never came to even check on us aside from bringing our drinks to us. A couple came in after us and sat down, they had a different waitress, we were the only table that had the waitress we had. Noticed they had ordered, gotten their food and were finished eating and our food still hadn't arrived, 45+ mins later. Finally hunted down our waitress who was hanging out and chatting with another employee in the bar and asked about our food. She goes to check, comes back and starts apologizing and says she forgot and never put our order in!! We were so ticked off we just said ok, we're out of here and left.

We were your only table and the place wasn't busy, how did you forget to put in our order?? Or never even think to look over at us or check on us or think to yourself, hmmm why haven't they gotten their food yet? We left and hit up the McDonald's before the bridge and were finally eating 10 mins after leaving the Galley. Wanted to try some place local and spend our money there but we will avoid this place any time we come back...
