Incredible food (the ambience and the food is better than the Indian restaurant across the street; I won't name); real Indian Food with Indian spices. Incredible buffet, including salad, naan, basmati or jasmine rice and new things to try that you normally wouldn't. Al-Jalfrazy was something I tried on buffet and thought was great. Staff is very attentive and fills your glass with water, tea, coffee, etc. Full liquor, but I don't drink. Many options for vegetarians; my favorite is Mushroom Masala. My mom loves Chicken Tandoori. Can ask for mild if you prefer mild over "hot" or "medium." Staff is kind and my family and I try to go there once a month. I also like the Alu-Gobi (vegetarian) non-spicy. If you like hot, then go for it! My sister's husband likes their goat entrees. From order to food, on a non-busy day is 20 minutes; if busy, on weekends, it could take up to half an hour. Food is hot and well-prepared and often replaced regularly to maintain freshness on the buffet. They also have desserts on the buffet, but I don't eat them; don't know if they're vegetarian. Been going there for many years. My favorite place to eat and spend time with my family. My friend, who lived in India for 37 years and was born there says the food tastes...
Read moreTwo of us dined in for dinner on a Sunday. Restaurant was quiet, as we were there quite late. They definitely have a big takeout following, as people streamed in and out to pick up in the short hour we dined. Excellent service, nice atmosphere that feels homey and space was very clean.
We ordered palak pakora for appetizer and shared two entrees - Tandoori chicken and chicken Tikka masala, both as spice level Hot. One order each of plain naan and onion naan to accompany.
Palak pakora was fantastic. You can tell they're flash fried at high temp so they were perfectly crispy but not oily at all. Cilantro sauce and mango chutney paired very well. My +1 grew up with his father cooking these at home and said they even exceeded his expectations!
My favorite entree was the Tandoori chicken. It was impressively flavorful and you could really taste the heat level. It came with broccoli and a bit of cucumber salad, which i really appreciate so I have a healthy crunch in each bite. Tikka masala was also delicious. Lots of delicious sauce and tender juicy chicken. Since it's a dish with yogurt as an ingredient, we said we'll try "Indian hot" spice next time.
Whether takeout or dine in, we'll definitely be back - recommend you...
Read moreI came here on a Saturday afternoon for the lunch buffet with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and her boyfriend, whom happens to have lived in India for a few years during his childhood. Right away, we were greeted by the host, who is a polite older gentleman. He sat us down on the right side of the restaurant and quickly had a waiter bring our waters out. I could see that the restaurant was very elegant. The food options were many as compared to other places I have been to in the Twin Cities. It was neatly laid out and there were many options to choose from. I was more than thrilled, to say the least. Not only did the food look delicious, it tasted quite different from the other restaurants as well. I believe it was more authentic because my sister-in-law's boyfriend said the food reminded him of his years spent in India. I would take this as a compliment. The waiters were also very polite and attentive. After each of us had three plates to sample everything the restaurant had to offer, we were full, but most importantly of all, we were all very satisfied. They truly deserved my tip of over 15%. Overall, I can now be happy to call Taste of India my go-to place for whenever I crave Indian cuisine. Please keep up the...
