PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS REVIEW! |Let me begin by saying my family and I have been staying at Gulf Gate for more than 30 years. I have grown up going and my children have grown up going there also. We have so many amazing memories made there. Which is why we keep going back. |Since the Managment company has taken over it has become so much LESS desirable. |The cleanliness is NOT there. There is obvious accumulated dust on every surface not easily touched, meaning the dresser and end tables were wiped however, the slatted doors to the closets and laundry area were very dusty. Easily cleanable. All the light fixtures and fans. Under all the beds. Inside all the drawers, kitchen bathroom and the bedrooms. Closets, all dirty as if no one even swept. |All the kitchen vertical surfaces were filthy, dried food that ran down cupboards and drawers, the refrigerator and dishwasher. Dirty refrigerator drawers I had to take out and wash. Not to mention the dirty dishes that were put away to be used. Literally used and put in the drawers and cupboards without so much as being wiped off. |Not to mention the food on the white dining room chairs that wasn’t wiped off. Peanut butter of all things, my family who stay one unit unit up from us would have had and anaphylactic reaction to that had it been their unit. I wish people knew what clean was. I’m happy to show them! |With that you should not have to wash the dishes before using them however, I highly recommend washing before use! No one looks at them to see if your dishes are clean. |This is not a one time complaint I have had, this has been an issue for the past few YEARS! It is a terrible thing when your first day of a vacation is spent cleaning a “clean” unit so you can relax. Yes, for the last 3 years now I have spent my first day cleaning. Sad to say our unit is more clean when we leave than when we arrive. ||Now for one more complaint on LACK of cleanliness, the pool. The pool has been cloudy more than it has been clear. They do not have a pool company to come care for it and check chemical balance on a regular basis. I have sat and watched day after day the condos next door (Gulf 5000) have people come ever other day and clean their pool and Gulf Gate has a employee throw some powder in and sweep the pool when they are there. Not a regular schedule. Not every day or even every other day. That’s not the worst of it, this is not the second year that several (I personally know 4) families whose children got ear infections from the pool the last 2 years. Two of my children last year and this year. This means that our children hurt, are in severe pain not for a day or two but typically 5 days of up throughout the night crying in pain, these are not infants, these are 6 year olds through adults who swim under water. This is the only water they had been under the water in therefore this is the only common water source. This also mean we now have medical bills as all 4 of the families I personally know have had to take our kids for treatment and medications. Again not how any of us want or should have to spend vacation when this is preventable. |I hear that they will be taking care of the pool correctly soon however, that didn’t stop many of us from paying a hefty price to use facilities that should be safe to begin with. |To say how disappointing it has become is an...
Read moreWe stayed in room 403 and would totally book again.||I actually would rate this 4 1/2 stars. The things that didn’t make it a 5 are minor and fixable. 1st being the king mattress. It was very broken down in the middle. It would have been great if some beach chairs and some more beach towels were provided. Since we flew in for this vacation, if we bought some, we would have had to leave them behind. There were 2 lounge chairs w/umbrellas that you could rent for $25 a day but they were a bit to far back from the shore. It was super hot and would have been nice to just set up a beach chair down by the water. That sums up the negatives.||Now the positives! Check in was super easy. Our room was super clean and updated! I took pics of all the details of this room in hopes it will help anyone looking to book and in helping with what you would need. Kitchen had plenty of all the things you would need in the kitchen. Refrigerator had an ice maker! There is a sleeper sofa in the living room which made that couch very uncomfortable to sit on but there was a second couch and it was very comfortable. Phenomenal view from the living room! ||It had an apartment size washer and dryer which worked great! That was a huge plus! ||We didn’t have to bring nearly as many clothes since we were able to wash clothes.||AC worked great which was needed with how hot outside it was.||There was 1 full bathroom and one 1/2 bath. Both were great! Plenty of bath towels, hand towels, and wash clothes provided. Shower had plenty of room and shelves for all the toiletries. Plenty of water pressure! There wasn’t a hand sprayer but would have loved that. ||Bedroom had a big dresser for clothes and a huge walk in closet. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows too. We didn’t like the pillows after the first night and actually went and bought our own. But there were quite a few. We just happen to be pretty picky about our pillows. Everything was super quiet. Never really heard our neighbors at all.||There was a hallway closet with a cooler, a couple of totes, a beach umbrella and regular umbrella which was nice. There was a nice big bench as you walk in which was great to sit on and put your shoes on. Plus that bench had storage as well.||The pool and hot tub outside seemed clean and kept up. Easy access to the beach!||There is a Publix grocery store kinda diagonally across the street where we got some groceries. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook if you’d like.||We highly recommend the little Italian restaurant named Buono in that same plaza as the Publix. We are there 3 times in one week. ||Overall, it was a great stay! We would definitely book again! Unfortunately, there was a red tide warning in the area so it made it very difficult for us to be outside for very long. It really caused some respiratory issues for us so we spent a lot of time in the condo and it was...
Read moreMy family and I have been visiting Gulf Gate Resort every year since 2014. Unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon. We have rented several different units in the past and have always been pleased with their condition and cleanliness. That all changed this year. We booked unit 408 and would not recommend it! The unit hasn’t been updated since the condos were built in 1982. It still has the original wicker furniture that were purchased when the condos first opened. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, mold on the shower curtain, dust and dirt in the bathroom exhaust fan, broken tiles in the shower, coffee maker took 45 minutes to brew a pot, and shower head broken which caused water to spray all over the bathroom are just a few of the items we had to deal with during our stay. Website says the bathrooms have been updated with granite countertops, they definitely have not! We spoke to the manager, Kenji, who was very helpful and tried to fix the issues that he could, but it’s not his fault the owners of 408 have not made any updates. ||There is a new management company, TRS, who has has taken over the property. This change has not been for the better, as of yet. Gulf Gate used to be a quiet, family friendly condo complex that had many long time, returning guests that we met and spoke to each and every year. This year, there were a lot of first time visitors which gave the complex more of a hotel feel instead of a “home away from home.” That and the increase in rental prices are the reasons we will be vacationing somewhere else next summer.||There have been lots of changes to Gulf Gate since our first visit, many of them have not been...
