The Gulf Beach Resort — Hotel in Saint Pete Beach

The "Office Manager", Cathy, is EXTREMELY unprofessional! I have stayed here throughout the years but it had been awhile. I wanted to take my Mother & family to the beach (my mother can no longer be left alone, covid wreaked havoc on her short term memory and she forgets to eat & take her medicine). I booked 2 rooms for the 4th of July weekend. There was a 5 night minimum. First warning sign- after paying my deposits, I received a call, they had made a mistake and the units weren't available for 5 nights, only 4 and they would make an exception. Okay.... Then red tide came- my Mother has residual issues from covid and could not take ANY chance of having breathing issues. Red tide didn't go away- Cathy sd I couldn't use my deposits at a later date, I had to cancel. BUT, it was 4th of July and they were getting calls everyday & they were booked so if they re-rented she would refund my money, great, right? I was concerned about the minimum stay but she assured me she would advertise them and work around the minimum like she ended up having to do for me (I should have cancelled then)...||On Friday July 2nd I called to check on the units and was told, yes, they had rented- I confirmed several times and was told everything was rented- there was nothing open- I was thrilled because then I wouldn't lose roughly $900 in deposits as promised- I also looked on the website and indeed it showed no availability- well.....||Cathy is not a person of her word! SHE IS A BOLD FACED LIAR- I gave it some time and called yesterday to see when I could expect a refund and she said the units never rented and I wasn't getting my money back!!! She refused to give me any contact information for the BOD, whom she said are the only people she answers to and that there was no use in talking- that the young lady who had told me they had rented was wrong- which, btw, I had my phone on speaker and my husband heard the entire conversation on July 2nd!!! The "office manager" then hung up on me! I proceeded to try to call back a ton and she would pick up the phone and hang it up or send it to voicemail- SOOOOOOO unprofessional!!! & WHAT A SCAM!!!!! The owner's information is public record so I'm hoping they will do the right thing. DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! The customer service from the past...

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe my husband’s and my experiences at the Gulf Beach Resort and its manager, Kathy Collins. We have been returning to the Gulf Beach Resort for 23 years and are planning our yearly two-month stay for 2026. This resort is truly a paradise. Each unit is independently owned but all are managed by Kathy. She is so much more than a manager as she treats everything about the Gulf Beach as if it were her own. She knows each unit and always encourages the owners to update them. If you need a particular pan, dish, utensil, she will quickly locate that particular item for you. She always informs her guests about routine weekly or monthly maintenance issues, such as the monthly pest control in each and every unit. You will see Kathy as early as 6 am many mornings as she readies the resort for the day. She always can be found around the pool/hot tub area in the afternoons as she also acts like a hostess checking in on her guests. This is a small gated boutique-like property, not a huge resort, and we like it just as it is! Manager Kathy Collins is the best reason to stay at the Gulf Beach Resort! She cares about her guests more than any manager at any resort property we have ever stayed. As I said, this will be our 24th year staying at the Gulf Beach Resort. Why...

The location of Plaza Beach resort is located right on the beach and provides great access to local restaurants.

Pros: Location provides you easy access to the beach and local restaurants. The ability to use the city’s free transportation system. Decorations around provide for a fun environment. Happy hour free beer and wine for an hour (we don’t drink but it is a good idea for those who do. The staff are friendly. The rooms are very clean when you arrive. It is a family owned business so they take pride in what they do. Putt putt on premises.

Cons: Beach chairs are only allowed to be used on site. Not by the beach. The rooms are only cleaned prior to you arrive, not during your stay. Towels are limited. You must sit them on a chair outside your room and hope someone brings some in time for you to shower up. The price keeps going up. There are no refunds on your stay even if you leave a day early. A beach volleyball team practices during your stay and they are not paying guests. The TVs are not located where the beds are and you have to put in your Netflix accounts or other accounts. Make sure you close all the curtains even where gaps are. Quiet hour is 9 pm and everything closes so no late night games.
