I hate to leave bad reviews and I rarely do it, but I had a really bad experience this month. If you're booking for yourself, I cannot attest to anything, but I will say that this is NOT a good choice for business accommodations. My job involves occasionally booking hotels for my employees when they have to work far away from their home office, so I didn't stay here personally, this is a review of my experience from that standpoint.
For a very short stay, the whole thing was inconvenient and embarrassing.
Out employee's truck was broken into in the parking lot (they mentioned it was not very well lit and easy to do, so be aware of that) and personal items were stolen from him. I have never had this happen when having to put an employee in a hotel.
I had to call and request a credit card authorization form several times, and then when I finally got it, I had to return it to a gmail account instead of an official Best Western email, which is not what I'm used to and made me pretty uncomfortable. I actually called the main line to confirm this was okay, and they said that some hotels just choose to do it that way. When my employee arrived after business hours, whoever was at the desk couldn't locate the form (at this point I had sent it in the morning and already received a response confirming it was received) and he had to call me after hours to sort it out with the front desk. We're lucky I was even available to answer.
Last thing, I almost hesitate to mention this because I cannot be 100% sure, but immediately after sending that confirmation, my card became compromised. It was the only such authorization I had sent out in at least a few weeks, and the charges started almost immediately upon the hotel running the card.
I wouldn't go so far as to blame anyone who worked there for directly taking my card information, especially because for the low value of the purchases made the risk vs reward is pretty low, but I do wonder if it was printed out and lost or disposed of incorrectly at some point. The monetary value of the purchases was negligible, but I do have to replace my card now which has placed a strain on business operations, as you can imagine, and will have to do a lot of back end administrative work to fix direct...
Read moreworst hotel experience ever. I waited until i got my refund before reviewing. I attempted to stay here the night of october 5th. Upon getting there the guy tried to get me to put down a $250 security deposit. now let me say the big marriott resort in San Antonio has a $60 deposit. $250 was ridiculous for a motel vibe. He tried a $100 deposit as well. He quickly was worked down to a $50 deposit from us. When we got to our room the key lock didn’t work at all and he had to unlock it with a master key and begged us to let it go for the night. We then heard very clear gunshots. (we checked the news in the morning and it was indeed a shooting just a few minutes from the hotel) when we entered the room we were immediately disturbed. there was a huge sliding glass door with the worst little latch on it for a lock. there was only a body wash bar for hand soap. the bathroom was filthy. I then got an inkling to check for bed bugs. we found them immediately. upon a deeper inspection we found nasty mattress stains, worms in towels, bugs in the sink, stains in the carpet, broken outlets, etc. i brought it to him and he said he’d make all phone calls in the morning for my refund and i’d receive an email at checkout time. Checkout rolled around and no email. i called and the sweetest girl answered. she straight up told me the guy lied to me and i had to make the refund calls myself. I know this guy was trying to scam me out of that security deposit at a minimum. We had to drive home at 2am. This was awful do...
Read moreNormally we avoid motels with outdoor room access, but this one seemed to have better reviews than nearby hotels in the same price range, so we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did - excellent value!
We stayed Wed-Sun and had no problems with any of the staff, but the young woman is especially sweet and helpful. Breakfast starts at 7, but was always out and ready even before that (which was helpful since we needed to leave by 7 the first 3 mornings). The fancy coffee machine in the breakfast area makes pretty good lattes and cappuccinos (in both decaf and caffeinated), which was a most welcome treat alongside the normal breakfast items. (Potatoes, sausage, eggs, waffles, pancakes, bagels, English muffins, muffins, toast, Activia yogurt, apples, oranges, honey nut Cheerios, Cheerios, & rice Chex, oatmeal packets, juice, milk, etc.)
The room was clean, spacious, and attractive. Did not feel "sketchy" or run down like so many budget motels. The management is doing a great job with this one, so I highly recommend giving it a chance. Obviously security can be a concern anytime you're so close to a freeway, but I didn't see anything to be concerned about (inside or outside) during our 5 days/4 nights there, and I'm alert to such things since I travel with...
