Something about this location changed. I went earlier this year since pre-covid visits. Ordered a burger with extra toppings and some fried okra. Had to repeat my burger order to the cahier then eventually find out that she also didn't get my okra order. No sweat. It happens sometimes. Visited yesterday. Apparently, we seemed to have bothered the cashier as she (different from previous visit) was on the phone when we stepped up to place our order. She seemed to be forced to end the call. Then we got the best "ugh, why am I here? What do you want?"- customer service from her. No welcome greeting, just the deadpan what would you like at the minimum volume knowing we're both masked and separated by plexiglass. Order is in. Grabbed a cup for my drink then went to get hot sauce which is community hot sauce in squeeze bottles. But what about Covid 19? Nah! Let's mix all the squeeze bottles together in one area so everyone can visit all of the bottles, mask or no mask. Any way. Hot sauce bottle I grabbed felt like someone's child had been playing with it for a while. Just felt dirty and I wanted to wash my hands. Sitting at the table now. No TVs were on. There's at least 3 of them and none of them were on. Was contemplating sitting outside even though it was sunny. Then I saw their patio umbrellas. Sitting by the door. Inside, with the rest of us. So much for fresh air. Picked up food from the counter. There was a break in our conversation which got filled with music from over-head and, the best kind, a completely different genre playing from the kitchen with that classic "my speaker is loud but has zero frequency range so it just sounds like treble"-cell phone/radio music. This was eventually followed by the sounds of a private comedy show held by the cooks. Looking back they were reaching and spinning some kind of sticker/toy-thing that was on the exhaust hood. Fun had by all. I'm not opposed to having some fun while you work but when you're selling burgers, maybe not make it the focus for your customers. At this point I'm looking for a manager to see what they do. I think I see him. He's at the front counter chatting it up with the cashier. But not behind the counter he's in front of the counter. Apron and all. Just waiting for that big order to come in so he could rush back to the kitchen and help save the day. I wonder if he knows how sticky the squeeze bottles are? Sticky enough for me to use a fork and knife to...
Read moreI went in for lunch today with my family. As I was placing our orders, I noticed that the menu stated there was 3 tenders instead of the 2 that was verbalized to me by the lady taking our order. I wanted to make sure I heard right so I then asked “it comes with 2 not 3?” And she said yes. I then made a comment about how the menu should be changed to reflect that it comes with 2 so that way it’s not misleading people. I’m fully aware that the store has no power to change things but they can mention it to the manager to have it changed or something. I didn’t think much of our encounter because in my opinion nothing I said was rude or inappropriate. The entire time I used yes maam, no maam and thank you.
We go to sit down and then entire time our food is being prepared, the same lady was in the kitchen talking about me and what was exchanged except the way she was explaining it was absolutely not what had happened. I tried to keep my mouth shut but then to find out that she is bad mouthing a customer in front of the customer to a manager nonetheless is absolutely disgusting. When i confronted her and told her that next time she chooses to talk badly about a customer, she should make sure the customer can’t hear her she responded with “perfect thanks”. Lucky for her, I’m reformed.
I then asked for a refund on my food because absolutely no way i was going to eat something given to me by someone who was talking badly about me. The entire time she was giving ugly looks and was just making me uncomfortable so we got up and left. Not one time did a manager come out and apologize.
I’ve loved longhorn for years. It’s a San Antonio staple but after that one experience, I’d never want to go back. Unfortunately, i did not catch her name but I’d be able to pick her out of a crowd. Best of luck to this location with people like that on your team, it’s no wonder why it’s drowning. Will do myself a favor and drive the extra miles for the other closest location where I’ve always had excellent...
Read moreLived nearby and decided to take a quick walk to have some lunch. The atmosphere of the place was great. They had nice, rustic decor and a cool window to look into the kitchen while everyone’s food was getting made. That being said, it was also one of those places where the chefs call out your name when your food is ready.
The service was great as well. Place is kept clean and staff is friendly. It gets quite busy during the lunch time as when I walked in, there was already a line. It got even longer after just a minute of standing, but there was only one register active, so that’s probably why it took a little bit.
Wait time for food was appropriate. I had ordered a mushroom and swiss burger meal with a side of fries and a drink ($14.92). The fries weren’t too salty, but they do have some salt and pepper shakers at the table if you wanted a bit more of that. The burgers are very messy to eat but they were okay—I’ve personally had better. Drinks are refillable as well.
Overall, nice little place to munch. Gets quite busy at times, but service is quick and there’s not a lot of wait. Menu has good variety of burgers, sandwiches,...
