If you are a cheap person that would like a clean place to stay I would say this is the place! But continue reading for more details… I booked through booking.com I did call in before booking and they were very informative. It was a 45min “grace period” between booking through booking.com which was fine because my flight had just landed. When I got to the hotel there was a $250 deposit it was still the cheaper option so I went with it. I was told the deposit would be returned in 20 days. I am going to be straight up with y’all. That $250 never left my account 🤷🏽♀️. I paid exactly what booking.com listed. This place was clean and cheap. No bugs. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. They provided fans in the rooms though. It didn’t get any hotter than 80 degrees during our stay so we through that fan right in the window and called it a day. The room had a little very mini refrigerator. They had vending machines and an ice machine in the lounge I would recommend that they put a microwave in the lounge too that would have been nice to have. I would say the cleaning lady’s are trust worthy. I didn’t leave anything of value out ofc but in general nothing was missing. This is a safe place…In order to get into this place you have to ring the door bell and usually the person at the front desk will let you in. Ik that could seem like an inconvenience but it honestly keeps the people that are staying in this hotel safe. I never stood outside longing than two minutes whenever they weren’t at the desk. In the second day of our visit a couple that was sitting in the lobby warned us to be careful because they seemed to be PROFILING PEOPLE OF COLOR. They basically were questioned whenever they’d try to enter the hotel they showed their key and the front desk staff went as far as stopping him from going up stairs. This is believe is not right and they need to be fair. If you are gonna question one person then you should technically be questioning everyone that enters . And the staff even called them “brown man” when they were exchanging words. Hearing about that worried me but at the end of the day my boyfriend and I didn’t have any issues and we are black as well. So be safe guys and do what’s best for you. I made this place work for the price. It was walking distance from loads of food spots and markets etc I would recommend the 24 hour dinner that’s about two blocks from the hotel. We took cheap Ubers anywhere we didn’t feel like walking too and we took the Bart to go to...
Read moreIt was my first trip to San Francisco, and I was recommended to this hotel by Booking.com as a replacement because the original hotel that I booked through Booking.com was unable to keep my reservation. I should have just taken the refund from Booking.com, but they paid the difference in price from the original hotel that I booked and Hotel Amari. The original hotel that I booked had 4 star reviews on Google, and somehow Hotel Amari had better reviews and was more expensive than the original hotel that I had booked, so I thought that I was getting a deal with Booking.com paying the difference. WRONG!!! I should have known that from the first time when I entered the lobby, and it smelled of something dead that I should have left. The smell in the lobby and hallways was akin to a morgue. Had it not been after 1am, I would have left, but I had no other place to go, and my taxi had already left, so I was stuck at least for the rest of the night. From the lobby, I took the rickety old elevator to the 3rd floor to my room, gaging half of the way due to the smell. When I got to the room, I must admit that I was presently surprised that the room was tidy and, more importantly, not smelly like the lobby and hallways. The mattress was too soft and bouncy, but otherwise, the room was decent. The room did not have a thermostat or central heating or air, and it was chilly in the room. When I went to wash my hands, the water was rust colored. I was able to stay with a friend, so I avoided staying at Hotel Amari for as much as I could. I had booked a room for 4 days, and I checked out on the 3rd day and caught a flight 1 day early. When I was checking out, I asked for a refund for the one day I would not use. The desk clerk told me that since Booking.com made the reservation that I would have to get a refund from Booking.com. When I called Booking.com they told me that Hotel Amari would have to issue the refund. So they just point the finger at each other, and I haven't received a refund. Both Hotel Amari and Booking.com get my lowest possible grades. I will NEVER use either one again, and I caution all that may consider using Booking.com or staying at...
Read moreI stayed there just for a day and it was a big mistake. The rooms had this weird smell and was all dusty. I’m allergic so had to take my med after that. The heater / radiator wasn’t working in the room so I called them to send a portable one but they said you would have to come downstairs to get and I went as it was too cold in the room. I plugged it in the room and it wasn’t working then I called them again to tell about the situation they said you have to come downstairs to get another one. I had to go as I took a 12 hour flight and was super tired with this nonsense. Told that young lady how pathetic is the hotel and I don’t like it. She in-return got mad at me for saying this and didn’t change my room, gave me a heater which was not working and on top of that she said, “over here we got no bell service alright I don’t have staff it’s just me if you want all that you could have gone to JW Marriott they will come to your door and do it and said to even bring the heater which wasn’t working downstairs as she needs to update system”. After few hours I went to use toilet and flush wasn’t working. I told her I need to speak with manager or someone. She said you can’t it’s my dad’s hotel if you wanna speak then speak to me. I had the worst stay she treated me really badly and that experience is not going away from my mind it was my first day in America I didn’t deserve this that too from a big hotel in union square. She should know how to treat customers as they are the ones bringing bread and butter. Even if her DAD owns the place. The guy at night was sweet and polite he even asked to help but this young lady clearly...
