We stayed once before our cruise and once after. We had two totally different experiences and we stayed in the same room both times. The first time the room was very clean and the staff very responsive. The second time, we had a swarm of flying bugs. No working phone number at 7:00PM, the person who responded to a text acted disinterested. We hadn’t said anything about the hair in the bathroom we found upon check in and the mold and mildew starting on the shower but now it seems that it needs to be mentioned. We wont return.
Addendum: Response To The Owner I can appreciate your reply. Since you were not there or part of the solution to the situation, I think some clarification is warranted. Joel, the General Manager, was very nice when he arrived. We had been dealing with the situation for two hours by that time. Joel did offer to clean the room, and since it was already late and we had a pre-dawn flight the next day and we had already killed the bugs ourselves, we felt waiting for Joel to clean the room was further annoyance than help. You mention that the problem was in the hallway. Please see one of the two photos of the bugs is in our room. We only knew of the problem in the hallway because of the plague that was coming under our door and into the room. I explained to Joel that the offer for a complimentary “upgrade” was treating me as if I am dumb. You don’t offer any type of accommodations that could possibly be considered an impressive upgrade. You are a modest boutique hotel and we are fine with that. A larger room is not impressive to us and certainly not equal to the concerning aspect of our experience. Also, why would we repack, move our stuff, and unpack to leave in seven hours. You should have offered to comp the room and asked us to please try you again another time. But, you didn’t. If AT&T can’t reach you from the sub-terrarium rooms then you need an accommodation for that. A customer shouldn’t need to explain that. Whoever you have responding to the emails and texts was dismissive from start to finish. Joel was the first contact with someone who actually cared. Finally, you didn’t address the very dirty bathroom. The lack of response to a big situation that has occurred only twice was purely a customer service issue. A dirty bathroom is completely inexcusable even if this were a cheap motel. Because you hire such nice people, I hope things turn around for you. The employees we met in person were exceptional one after another. Please thank...
Read moreI cannot rave enough about Patio Elba. My experience coming to PR was rough but this fantastic 2 night emergency stay made it all worth it. From missing a flight to our original housing booking having NO communication, we were urgent to look for a NICE place to stay. Patio Elba was a few minutes drive from San Juan, (our original place of residence for the week), but not bad. My family and I stayed in the two bedroom suite, we particularly loved the cleanliness of the room. Very modern, minimalistic, clean, cold and dry. The air is super clean within the rooms as well, it is literally like a breath of fresh air. The beds are low to the ground so although it’s hot outside, I was still able to comfortably lay under the blanket fully due to the cold atmosphere of the entire room. Patio Elba also has a cold pool and a hot tub right as you walk in past the gate and up the slight ramp. The hot tub gets super hot and the regular pool is perfect temperature for warm weather. The staff is also SO welcoming. I would say the ONLY inconvenient thing about this place is the location, you have to uber or taxi to most places that aren’t local, (which is most), so if you are visiting long term and this is your entire reservation; consider the travel costs in your vacation. Other than the location, everything is SO WORTH IT. From the communication to the cleanliness of the rooms, it was a complete 10/10. I cannot stress this luxurious stay enough, thank you...
Read moreThis boutique gem blends Old San Juan’s charm with a cool, modern edge that feels effortlessly chic.
Step inside and you're immediately immersed in a vibe that feels like a curated art exhibit, a tropical escape, and a home away from home all in one. The decor is cozy, with Caribbean colors, sleek design touches, and local artwork that tells a story in every corner. (Don’t forget to ask about the amazing painting inspired in Doña Elba.) The floors had me in awe!!!
Our room was a sanctuary. High ceilings, plush linens, and a balcony setting that gave my kids the experience of an afternoon at grandmas house back in the 90’s… my childhood—colorful streets, nice breeze, and just enough city buzz to remind you you’re somewhere electric. Oh, and there is a plus… either you love hot or cold water: they have both… TWO JACUZZI STYLE POOLS.
The staff? Beyond exceptional. Friendly, intuitive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They gave us personalized recs—food, nightlife, kid-like fun, art—that took our trip to another level.
Whether you’re in San Juan for culture, beach time, or just to reset your soul, Patio Elba is that place. The one you almost don’t want to tell anyone about, because it’s just that special.
I came for a weekend. I left planning my next trip back. Shoutout to Juan, the owner: he received us at Patio Elba. THANK YOU! Our Mom & Boys Weekend Getaway was perfect, we...
