While randomly searching for a place to enjoy breakfast and coffee, we stumbled upon this spot. Despite the place being quite crowded, we were fortunate enough to find available seating. Their dynamic is forming the line at the register, you place your order and are free to sit where you please. We couldn't help but notice that the cashier, unfortunately, lacked warmth and friendliness. With no smile or greeting, we had to greet her. As new customers to the place, we sought a recommendation, but it seemed like she offered the first thing that came to her mind without any enthusiasm or elaboration on why it would be a good choice. Her face said: “Hurry up and order.” During the checkout process, there was a tipping option, and when I chose not to leave a tip, the cashier's demeanor turned more serious and she had the audacity to thank me at that point, I wasn’t sure I heard right and asked what she said, and I was thanked for a second time, that was disrespectful. It was disheartening to experience such poor customer service at the register. It's disappointing to encounter situations where we're expected to tip before even trying the food or beverage. If a tip is anticipated merely for taking an order, at least try to earn it by providing excellent customer service and that might increase the likelihood of receiving a tip. Nowadays, it feels like some places simply assume they deserve tips for merely existing, but it's essential to remember that earning a tip is about delivering exceptional service and making the customer's experience truly enjoyable, which she didn’t. Let's focus on providing outstanding service, and the tips will naturally follow. Moving on to the positive aspects, the cappuccino I ordered received a solid 8.5 out of 10, and the pastrami sandwich impressed me with a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. Both the coffee and food were excellent. Luckily, the table service was handled by another person who was attentive and genuinely friendly. He brought us our coffee and brought my friend's order with a welcoming attitude. Interestingly, the same cashier who seemed indifferent at the register delivered my order and provided some napkins. However, despite me thanking her both times, she offered no response, smile, or any form of acknowledgment. Overall, the experience was a bit bittersweet. The food and coffee were exceptional, but the cashier's attitude left much to be desired. We’ve visited many coffee shops and this one had the potential for an out of this world review, too bad. We plan to come back, hopefully a different person will be handling the register to make it an all-around awesome experience on...
Read moreCafe Comunión was one of my favorite stops in San Juan. I had a delicious cold brew concoction that had mint, lemonade, and tonic water, and it was fizzy, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, a perfect choice for yet another muggy sunny day on the island. The atmosphere was community-focused and warm. I was an idiot and didn't listen carefully when they were bringing out a plate of food and mistakenly claimed the wrong dish, and I was well into eating it before I realized. I let them know and they were very kind and understanding about the mix up! I have to give an extra shout out to businesses who can so graciously accommodate customer mistakes that can damage their flow pretty badly. I loved sitting here for a good long while with my coffee and journal, and I can't wait...
Read moreI have heard great things about this place but unfortunately I left unsatisfy. First they took along time to serve my food. they only served me after I had to go and ask about my food. Finally when they bring it. Instead of the croissant bread I got regular bread. They did not even bother asking me if I wanted that bread, then they apologized but I didn't like the fact they didnt gave an option they just served it like that. It was a simple overpriced egg sandwich that was not worth what I paid for. To top it all the coffee was not warm. I believe I spent around 18 dollars with tip for bad service and overpriced food. The girls that work there are really nice but unfortunately my experience there...
