I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. Recently I stayed for 2 nights and when I checked in for the 1st night,They forced me to pay in cash. I was shocked because not only because they had my card on file and was not able to get in room I reserved a month ago.So the 2nd night we were out for the day and came back to room and both our keys wouldn't work. Went to office and were told by Dan that we didn't pay for this night.I was so embarrassed and confused, this never happened before .So I payed for it on my card and asked for my receipt and Dan told me I could have it when I checked out!!!!! I tried to discuss this with Dan and he was so rude and condescending. This was never there policy.Dan even had the guts to say that there are plenty of other hotels. I went on to ask if they took triple A discounts,Dan said no butt on there sign out front ,it had a huge triple A sign !!!!And also on there hotel pamphlet. When I went to check out in morning so he would finally give me my receipt, he argued with me that I didn't ask for it the night before? I have never before been treated so badly at a hotel.Dan even said that I must not travel too much and that this is all the hotels policies. I informed him I do travel a lot and just stayed in Pismo and checked out in morning with no issues or rude people.Dan is the General manager and that is a position for someone who knows how to respect and are people friendly. He has ruined any chances of us staying there again or anyone else we...
Read moreThe Castillo Inn at Santa Barbara was one of the nicest suprises my wife and I have experienced during our many years of traveling the country. This boutique hotel was in an idea location and about 1/2 the price of the rest of the hotels in the same area! The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom updates were first class as were the plantation blinds that added to its' charm. In addition, we had walk out patio with a table and four chairs that we made good use of throughout the 4 days we stayed in Santa Barbara. My wife's sister and husband (who live in Sacromento, CA) met us at the hotel and with them located in the next room, it made the patio the place to hang out in the mornings and late in evening after enjoying the day. All the great bars and resteraunts are in walking distance and we hung out at many of them throughout the time. Rooms are extremely clean. Dan, the Hotel Manager, quickly became one of the family as our constant requests for everything from extra keys, towels, places to go, bars to hang out, wine tours to take and other such things were always provided with a smile. I would give this hotel the highest recommendation for value, location, and room size. Expecially if it is going to be for a multi-day stay. Looking forward to ur next trip to Santa Barbara so that we can stay at the Castllo Inn again and see...
Read moreAT 12 am my wife and I were awoken by a domestic altercation in the room below us. A woman pounding on the door to get into her room. A man not letting her in. It quickly escalated to threats. My wife made sure our door was locked and drew the chain across it. That’s how intense it got.||||We called the desk and got an answering machine. Finally, two hours later, at 2 am, the police arrived. Several guests at the hotel had called. After the police left, the pounding/altercation resumed until almost 4 am. ||||I recounted this to the manager, Dan, the following morning. His response was "I'm not sure what to tell you." I asked him to look on the security cameras and low and behold at 2am, a police car was in parking lot. "That was for something else," Dan told me in earnest. ||||Does it matter what it was for? Police lights were flashing in an attempt to break up an altercation. Forget about none of the guest sleeping. Everyone felt unsafe. ||||I asked how no staff at the hotel are present in the event of an emergency and his response was, "We're close by." ||||Read the rest of the 1 and 2 star reviews. Lot's of complaints about noise keeping people awake, a non existent staff, and intolerably rude manager.||||There are far better places to stay for nearly $400 a night. The Castillo Inn has not been updated in ages, and it...
