Casa Culinaria looks beautiful online, but our experience didn’t live up to expectations. The suite was stylish but impractical. The bed was just inches from the bathroom door, there were no real privacy blinds (just wooden shutters), and it had bugs. Not surprising, with light coming through the frame of the fully closed door. The room had dust in the corners, creaky floors, and a dried booger on the bathroom door (gross). It felt more like a dressed-up guesthouse than a properly maintained boutique inn. We were told to “just ask” if we needed anything, but requests for basic things like ice or extra towels were brushed off. No one ever came through. Breakfast was an extra $45 per person. Most of it tasted great, but there were no choices, no water, and no effort to ask about dietary needs. You’re served what the kitchen decides, at their pace. It took about an hour and a half to receive our final tasting item, and it was a lackluster finish. The whole thing felt more like a slow production than a relaxing meal. This place might work for people who care more about aesthetics than comfort, but if you’re looking for genuine hospitality, better (or any?) service, and basic guest care, I’d recommend staying elsewhere. Ridiculously overhyped. Skip it.

I would give Casa Culinaria 10 stars if I could. What an amazing place!! I was leading a group tour of 10. We were supposed to go on a walking Foodie Tour but it was Labor Day weekend and Santa Fe was packed. We found this alternative option for brunch. This was WAY more than brunch. It was an experience. First, you walk up to an old brick house that is surrounded by a gazebo and garden. Then you see another house. And another house. Three houses represent the boutique hotel. As you walk into the garden, you see tables set up for 2 and 3 people with umbrellas and really unique place settings. Then the fun began. Chef Carolina brought out the homemade pastries, bread and delicious jams. Then the mimosa’s. Mmmmmm. Next was homemade yogurt, fresh fruit and, yep, you guessed it, homemade granola. It didn’t stop there. See the picture for the decadent poached eggs, birds nest goat cheese, veggie hash and potatoes. They even had gluten free bread for me. Heaven. Not done. She capped it off with an almond cake that melted in your mouth. This experience had all our senses going. Forget the food tour, make a reservation at Casa Culinaria and let your senses be delighted.

I can't say enough nice things about this Inn. When entering the courtyard from the parking lot (in the back), I was met with the fragrance of roses permeating the air. The courtyard is magnificent! It is filled with peonies, lilac, lavender, Lilly of the Valley and other botanical treats. The gourmet brunch is definitely gourmet. The juice of the day was watermelon, followed by incredible artisan breads, jams, jellies, homemade butter. The menu for the day was spinach, mushroom, feta quiche with homemade sausage, arugula with a delicious dressing. The plate was criss crossed with pepper dressing and mustard dressing. The presentation was beautiful! Thank you Chef Carolina! Your cooking is magnificent! You're very much appreciated! My room was so comfy. Bed is comfortable.WONDERFUL pillows! All rustic southwest. Very aesthetically pleasing and well designed. Finally, housekeeping was very meticulous. Room was immaculate and clean. Manuel was very gracious and accommodating. He saw to it, that everything was PERFECT! Thank you all for a WONDERFUL stay!

This is a negative review I never thought I would write. My wife and I have frequented Casa Culinaria for years prior to the new ownership, while it was still the "Don Gaspar Inn". We recently stayed at the B and B "Casa Culinaria" now that it has adopted a pretentious facade, lulling unwitting consumers into a misappropriation of their funds. We stayed the weekend and we were very disappointed with what the Inn has become. When I first spoke with the new owner to verify our reservation, I was surprised with how rude he was from the instant he answered the phone but disregarded it for the time and we continued on our way. Once we arrived his mannerisms were uncouth as expected. The following morning my wife and I were excited to experience the "gourmet cuisine" the disgruntled woman (who remained in the kitchen the entirety of brunch without a word to anyone) prepared. Myself, my wife and the various other guests sat at a small table all together in a small room, with a small kitchen containing six guests, one disgruntled chef and an abhorrent host. The guests sat pressed together while being served ostentatious eggs with a side of regret for brunch, I sighed. The next morning my wife was not feeling well so we decided to stay in our room and not include ourselves at breakfast, this would prove to be the beginning of our unjustifiable $271.00 additional fee that was extracted from our bank account several days after leaving the bed and breakfast. We left later on in the day and did not check out because we felt so uncomfortable associating with the owners. We picked up the room and left two of our own paper bags left over from dinners we enjoyed in downtown Santa Fe with our remaining disposables, as the room only provided one tiny trash can. We then placed all of the linens on the bed (we did not fold them) but we were unaware we were expected to make the bed and leave a mint on the pillow on our departure. A few days later after an additional $271.00 was removed from our bank account without our approval we were sent an email detailing the "damages done to the room" and several photographs of the "damages" these photographs consisted of 4 pictures of the bed linens with the owners pointing to dots on the sheets that were quite literally the size of the head of a pin. I contacted the owner and asked why we were being charged nearly $300.00 and he stated that it is a luxury hotel and this is not the way a room is to be left at a luxury hotel and they had to have the linens dry cleaned and it cost $200.00 and the maid had to clean for 3 extra hours at $25.00 an hour. I know exactly how the room was left and am absolutely certain any "damages" sustained, (if any) would equate to nowhere near $300.00 the owner also stated that the linens had to be dry cleaned because they will not fit in their own washer and dryer which left me wondering, if that is the case either they send the linen to a dry cleaner regardless or they do not wash them, both of which are troubling. After discussing it over the phone it seemed to me that I was charged $271.00 not due to the "damages" necessarily but more so to the fact my wife and I did not attend breakfast which he made abundantly clear he was not pleased with while discussing why I was being charged $900.00 for 2 days in a sub par bed and breakfast. I'm sure they work very hard to make meals for their guests but also don't believe I should be forced to attend those meals if I am a guest and chastised if I don't. My final review will be this. Do not stay at the Casa Culinaria unless you are prepared to be patronized by ungracious hosts, eat mediocre cuisine in a cramped space with strangers, keep your linens, towels, and every aspect of your room impeccably clean and have your checking account pillaged by pompous,...

What a terrible experience! My partner and I (we are a gay couple) took our parents on a weekend in January and decided to stay here after reading the raving reviews about the breakfast and hospitality. I rarely write comments here but I feel obligated to do so in the hopes the owner takes this seriously. When we were on our way to the B&B after a long flight, we called the owner and asked if we can check in early, he responded that nothing is clean and that we have to wait until the check in time, he was very rude. This was the weekend after NYE so it was a very quiet weekend. When we arrived at the check in time we were given 2 room in 2 seperate houses far apart from each other, we asked if we can switch a room so our parents can we with us and they said that the other rooms were booked and they have not cleaned them yet & we they claimed that we paid "for the cheapest rooms" so we cannot be moved (which we found to be very rude to say). When we entered the rooms they were freezing, we found out that they did not turn the heating on before we checked in, we asked to turn the heating on and they did not seem pleased with our request (my mother in law was sick). In addition, later we found out that the place had only one additional room booked for the weekend and there was no reason not to move us rooms (they just didn't want to pay for the cleaning), they basically lied to us. When we asked when is breakfast, they said 9am, we asked if it can be a little earlier (as we wanted to drive and take advantage of the day) we were answered that the pretentious chef needs to do preparations and cannot be ready before 9am. We also asked that the food not be very spicy, and to our surprise they food was very spicy and even the desert was with chili so our parents could not eat it. There was never coffee ready in the morning as promised when we checked in, and every morning when we asked for it, the chef rudely stated that there is coffee and when she came and checked realized she was wrong, the second morning when she was back to fill in coffee, she really blew our minds. She came to our room and said that we seem unhappy and offered us to leave to another hotel and she will reimburse the night we were going to leave, we were shocked, if a person who wants to host cannot host then what are they doing in this business in the first place??? She was rude and raised her voice on us, never in my life i experience such a disgrace. we respectfully declined her offer as we were not going to waste our time finding another hotel just because she didn't like us or cared for our sexual preference. I feel obligated to warn you not to stay here, there are many other better places that offers you a warm and...

I am leaving this review to warn people who are considering staying here to think otherwise. The owners of this hotel are rude and vindictive. My husband and I did not even get the chance to stay at this hotel because the owners called the Police on us before we could. We were traveling from out of town in a 22’ Sprinter van and were told by the owner we could park it in the back. So, we arrived to the property unable to find the parking spot we were told to park in. I was driving the van and had to turn around in the lot in the back. In doing so, my van clipped a metal bracket (that was unseen and unmarked) on a public utility pole. In order to prevent further damage to the van and to the pole, my husband and I called AAA to get the van off the bracket. In the mean time, the owner drove into the lot and created a panicked scene. Never once did she ask how we were or if there was anything she could do to help. Instead, she threatened us with her lawyer and asked my husband for his ID. We told her that our first priority was to prevent further damage and that we would be happy to cover any damages to her property, if that were the case. Instead of helping find a solution, she called the Santa Fe police instead. So, the Police and Fire Department show up. At that moment I’m embarrassed and upset - and am hopeful I can make things right. The Fire Department immediately leaves the scene, stating that we had done the right thing calling AAA to get us out of the lot. The Police were kind and understanding and assured me that we were doing the right thing. A police report was created to appease the owner and I was given no citation because I had clipped a public utility pole and did no damage to this property. The police told us that as soon as AAA got us out of the lot, we were free to leave. The public utility company also showed up, and immediately told me that the pole was fine, undamaged, and that there was absolutely no risk to there being problems with the property. So, the owner is now trashing my husband’s review (which I’m sure can be found here) and his Air BnB rating - despite the fact that we didn’t even stay at their property. We clearly didn’t feel comfortable staying here. We have proof that there was no damage done to her property and I was given no citation by the police. I simply caught myself in a bad situation that caused damage to my own car - and found a way out of it. These people showed absolutely no compassion to what was a...
