I don't even know where to begin..... I have never had to write such a disappointing review and we use Wyndam Hotels at least 4 times a year, not to mention we are members. This particular location was awful. The room itself was what we expected. However, it had NO WORKING, bedside electric. The outlets did not work. We were told a lot of the rooms are like that and they are "glitchy". We told the front desk we have medical equipment necessary at night only to have them repeat, "yeah", "sorry". "A lot of our rooms are that way". They said they "could not" change our room. My husband asked for an extension cord and after being placed on hold for a pretty good amount of time he was told to, "come down and get it". It was after 11 PM. So, we spent the evening with a 100ft. industrial extension cord all over the floor, which is now a tripping hazard, but hey, at least we could use our medical equipment, right? The next morning we brought it up to the 2 gentleman at the front desk. One of them was new to the job so we understood his inability to help us much but with what experience and training he had, we appreciate him. There was also a woman behind the front desk whom we had seen earlier that morning in the breakfast area, cleaning up and restocking. When she overheard our concern regarding the power she was very quick to ask what room we had been in, asked, as a way of confirming the "glitchy rooms" comment, and said she was going to check on that "immediately" including apologizing to us. The other gentleman whom we had most of our conversation with attempted to convince us that, "California state law requires all outlets to be motion detection for safety reasons". I did, in fact repeat to him, " are you telling me that unless a person continues to move throughout the evening, on a contuous basis, then that outlet is going to shut off, which is going to then shut off my husband's oxygen, therefore he will not be able to breathe, in his sleep?" His reply was, "yes", "so it's not our fault", "we don't have a choice". Now of course we were asking for some kind of compensation, as we paid over $200 for this room. He was not going to compensate us by any means and when we asked if we could speak with a manager he simply said, "No", " managers don't work on the weekends". We asked if he could call one so we could speak on the phone? His reply was, "it's their day off", "I'm not going to bother them, and they won't come in anyway". He told us we could call on Monday if we like. This guy was first of all, very argumentative, repeatedly told us it was California State Law, never apologized, didn't really want to hear anything we had to say. It was his horrible customer service skills that put the lid on this pot. I am a consumer, choosing to pay quite a bit of money for a service. There is a definite level of expectation I have and that is included in the fees I pay and that not only includes proper electricity but it helps sign his paycheck. This man is doing an injustice to the reputation of Wyndam and its participants. We will not aide in providing a paycheck for someone of this character. Therefore we don't recommend anyone staying here. Most importantly and especially if you require...
Read moreWe booked a last-minute weekend getaway trip and chose La Quinta Inn for its availability, price, and positive online reviews.
Unfortunately, our stay was far from satisfactory. We were assigned a highway facing room at check-in, and went back down to the front desk and requested a quieter non-highway facing room. Ended up being assigned another highway facing room... After returning to the front desk again with all of our luggage, we were given a room on the first floor, right next to the exit door. But it looks like the service staff and guest constantly use this door between starting from 5 AM and 9 AM, the door thuds close, the type you can feel, so we didn't get good sleep...
Not only that but the shower pressure is pretty low, by the time the water reaches your body, it's barely lukewarm...
For a $200/night hotel in a suburb area that was 2x the price of the motels nearby, our expectation for this hotel is to provide a clean quiet room for the money...
The next morning, I brought up the snafus of the hotel to Julio, the manager, he was pleasant and offered a 20% discount plus free parking. But I felt that this was not enough compensation for the inconvenience we experienced, I would have rather chosen a nearby motel vs what we had experienced... When I requested further resolution, Julio explained that he would need higher management approval. I left my contact information and Julio told me he would get back the following day. I didn't receive a follow up the next day.. After contacting the hotel again, Julio only offered the same compensation, which was disappointing.
Given that the courtesy compensation stayed the same and that I didn't get any further explanation, I am unsure if upper management was actually involved. So I feel that the hotel did not take my concerns seriously or address them in any meaningful way. Not for myself, nor for future guests...
If you still do want to stay here, I recommend requesting an upper-floor room that does not face the highway if you decide to stay at this hotel. However, I cannot guarantee that this will resolve the noise issue, and the low shower pressure is still a concern.
Overall, my personal stay at La Quinta Inn in Santa Rosa was subpar, it doesn't feel like a customer-focused hotel. I hope that they will improve their service in the future and address these concerns.
Parking is also $10, which they do not mention the price of when you they ask if you need a permit. (there's plenty of parking that looks safe in the...
Read moreThe good: new property so it’s very clean. Beds we’re comfortable and there were lots of sanitation stations throughout the hotel. Convenient location. Great housekeeping, we left a small tip to show our appreciation.
The bad: I called the front desk to go over some charges I saw on my credit cards. I stayed with them for 1 night on 1/12.
Here were the charges on my credit card:
$29 $50 $70 $9 $131.05 (room and tax)
I understood the $50 was the hold for incidentals and that the $29 was for 3 water bottles. Yes, buyer beware. Bottles of water are a price gouge here but it is what it is.
Parking is also $10 per car which they do not bother telling you at check in.
Really I was curious as to why the $70 and $9 was charged to my card. I asked several times and they couldn’t give me an answer. It’s okay that she couldn’t tell me, I actually used to work for Choice Hotel Group so I carry a lot of sympathy for front desk staff. What was completely unacceptable was how rude and upset she was that I kept asking. She kept repeating the same charges over and over. At one point she said I must have stayed for 2 nights. A coworker in the background said I “must be a debit card user and doesn’t understand how charges work”. I booked this with my travel card, a Mastercard Savor.
She told me if I was unhappy and couldn’t understand math that I could leave a message for her manager.
Instead I’ll take the copy of my receipt, that doesn’t match any of these charges and dispute it with my credit card company. I’ll also leave this review as a buyer beware. What we thought was a great deal for a quick place to rest our head ended up being a price gouge. When I called I thought I would receive help, instead I was demeaned and insulted.
My advice to the front desk agents is to find a different job doing anything other than...
