For an inexpensive, traditional motel I was pleasantly surprised by the experience here. It was a last minute decision to stay here and I was unsure if I could trust the more recent good reviews, but they were accurate overall and I would stay here again.
The room was simple but fairly large, well-maintained and usable, with appropriate amenities (fridge, coffee and tea, microwave, hair dryer). Even though it is right next to a busy freeway entrance and one of Santa Rosa's busiest streets, it was dead quiet at night—I barely heard any neighbors ever. The location is convenient to get on and off the 101 and is walkable to stores like Trader Joe's and Target, but is otherwise lacking in much of interest, although a mile walk or a short drive will bring you to the nicer downtown areas with parks, gardens, and quainter fair.
There are a few minor quibbles: the towels, while clean, are a little worn out with some stains. The view from the rooms is fairly ugly: it's almost entirely parking lot, then major street and traffic, then, off in the distance, low hills; you may want to keep your drapes closed most of the time to avoid the fishbowl feeling. The only place to hang clothes is an open rack, which makes it feel a little cheap, and the bathroom door is a sliding barn-door style which is pretty unpleasant if you're more than one person since it doesn't in any way block sound or smell. And, speaking of smell, there was initially an overpowering smell of industrial strength febreeze—I travel with a purifier due to allergies so with time it lessened, but others may not be so lucky. None of these were dealbreakers, and the fact that it all was clean and neat made up for the flaws, especially compared to experiences with similarly priced rooms where cleanliness has been questionable.
Finally, this area used to have an unsavory local reputation which is clearly no longer true. Over 5 days I saw other guests come and go. They were a very average collection of normal travelers who were quiet, respectful, and respectable. I never felt unsafe and didn't see anyone or anything out of the ordinary.
In summation, a good deal, especially if you're visiting to do things...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Travelodge in Santa Rosa and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. This property exceeded my expectations in several ways. First, it was remarkably quiet, making it an excellent choice for travelers seeking a peaceful night’s sleep. Despite its convenient location near key attractions and amenities, the surroundings were calm, and I didn’t hear any noise from other rooms or outside. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, which is always a top priority for me. The housekeeping staff clearly takes pride in their work, as everything—from the linens to the bathroom—was spotless. The property also has a modern feel, with updated furnishings and thoughtful touches that made the room both functional and inviting. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, and the beds were comfortable, adding to the overall appeal. Travelodge in Santa Rosa is an excellent option for those seeking a budget-friendly yet high-quality stay. I would definitely return and recommend...
Read moreWe stayed the night here on Dec 6, 2021. We were traveling and it was a one night stay. When we first got in the room I went to put our food in the refrigerator and the door fell completely off! We picked up the phone to call the front desk to let them know and the phone was broken and didn't work. My husband walked back to the front desk and spoke with the couple there. The guy said yes I know, I haven't had time to fix it. No offer of a different room or anything. We were tired from our long day and just wanted to get a shower and sleep. When we went to take a shower we found the tub dirty with dark hairs in the tub along with a screw. Don't know where it came from. The soap dish was caked with old dried soap and the tolit paper holder was falling out of the wall. There was something sticky spilled all over the sink counter. The room was a complete disaster. I would NOT sugest...
