I made the reservation on countryinnsantarosa.com and emailed them about a cancellation 3 weeks prior to the reservation. ||I got no response so 3 days later I called.||Maybe the front desk was having the worst day of his life or maybe this is how he talks to everyone, but he was extremely mean and condescending.||He asked if I reserved it online and I said yes but that it was directly with their website.||He said that if I made it online I have to cancel online which makes sense, except that this was not through a third party reservation site, it was directly with their private property... and they didn't respond to the email.||I tried explaining this when he interrupted me and accused me of interrupting him and told me to stay quiet so that he could explain. ||He went on to repeat this over and over as if I was too dumb to understand.||I have worked at plenty of hotels both as front desk and manager for 12 years so I already knew what he was talking about.||He kept telling me that if I made it on Expedia or booking or whatever, that I had to cancel online- I ALREADY KNOW THAT but I couldn't even tell him that because he acted like any word I said was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard.||I know that when it's done directly with the private property's web site though, only the property can cancel it. Especially since it's not corporate and there's no corporate phone number to call.||He went on to tell me there's no such thing as a prepaid reservation and I didn't know anything. ||Umm, there most definitely is such a thing but I wasn't going to argue bc obviously it was important for this mans fragile ego to feel like he was smarter than any woman on the phone.||I quietly waited my turn to speak and every time I did he would tell me that I needed to be quiet so he could finish talking (even though he interrupted me).||It took a few minutes to finally be given the chance to be able to explain how I made my reservation without being interrupted by this angry man.||I was practically crying with frustration when I was able to convince him to look it up by name and date.||He claimed he couldn't find it and was very mean about it.||He said he would write my name and the date down and ask his manager about it. ||About 30 minutes later I finally got a cancellation in my email.||I'm giving it 2 stars because the rate was cheap and the location looked good on google maps... but that was the absolute worst customer service experience...

I do appreciate it is located near the great wine country, but the $181 price for a Saturday in Aug 2021 seemed steep (yet I couldn't beat the price when shopping around. When we stepped in we noticed the dated furniture and TV, but at least it was clean. We thought we were getting a tub, however we're saddened to find a stand up shower with a shower head at about 5 feet (I had to really stoop to wash my hair). Also, you wouldn't believe how thin the soap was; at least we didn't waste.
We were in room 118 near the pool (it was closed, maybe due to COVID-19), but what was odd was if you opened the bathroom window, you were literally in the backyard of a house. Talk about strange, no standoff distance.

Read moreI stayed in room 103. ||||Good:||Building and parking lot in good shape. Staff friendly and on-site. My room was quiet considering the location. Wifi worked well though a password was given but in the end not required. ??? Had both microwave and refrig. What this place has is LOCATION! Walking distance to many stores including Trader Joe's!!||||Bad:||Front door did not close well...lots of air, noise and light passed through. Furniture was beyond needing replacement. Room smelled like mildew (at least it wasn't artificially scented!). TV was the old style (not flat screen). Bathroom shower had moldy grout and broken tiles. Towel bar was badly bent. Toilet seat badly needed replacement. Bedspread had holes. ||||This room in particular REALLY needs some serious work. Check your room before plunking...
