My husband and I traveled to Monterey for our anniversary. We decided to eat breakfast before we headed back on the road home. I googled best food in Monterey area for breakfast and The breakfast club came up.
I decided to surprise my husband because he loves breakfast, and take him to this restaurant. We had about a 30 minute wait which wasn’t too bad we did wait outside. The parking wasn’t that great but they did have additional parking in the back.
Once we were seated we were greeted within less than a minute. We had hot coffee in our cups and they were ready to take our order. We had time to look at the menu ahead of time to decide what you wanted. We ordered biscuits and gravy, the travelers breakfast and the corn beef hash breakfast.
Portion sizes were perfect. The fruit salad had about 10 varieties of fruit in it which was awesome and all of it was perfect. The eggs were done perfectly over medium and the hash was great except it had a little bit too many mushrooms. It was delicious. We shared all of it. The biscuits and gravy were a little grainy not my favorite, I probably wouldn’t order these again. Potatoes were done well and tasted good. My husband ordered the traveler breakfast which included pancakes eggs and bacon. I would highly recommend this place, I could see a lot of locals were there...
Read moreI had one of the creepiest experiences of my life here a few months ago. I am a young woman who came in to dine solo for breakfast. The woman who actually served me was wonderful and my experience was good up to a certain point.
While I was eating my breakfast, a man approached my table -- either another server or employee. He didn't specify. He asked me if I would drink a mimosa if he gave me a complimentary one. A thoughtful gesture, for sure. I politely declined, telling him that I have been sober for over a year.
He persisted in asking me if I would make an exception. I told him that if he would like to bring me a juice, I would gladly accept that but reiterated that I would not drink any alcohol. He nodded his head and left to get the drink.
He set a drink down at my table that I thought was juice and left. I took a sip and it tasted exactly like an alcoholic mimosa. I couldn't believe it so I took a few more sips just to make sure. It was definitely alcoholic.
Additionally, I looked across the room and caught him in a dark corner of the restaurant staring at me and watching me drink whatever he made me. Thankfully I had already settled the bill with my waitress. I was so creeped out and horrified by the blatant disregard for my boundary, that I ran out of the restaurant immediately and have...
Read moreTo be completely honest I never take the time to write a negative review unless the place is really bad. I arrived to this place under the impression that it was going to be pretty good hence the reviews, but we were SO wrong. For starters, there was a few people waiting outside, which I did not mind...being that we went on a Sunday, but what got me upset from the get go was how rude the hostess was when we got there, not friendly whatsoever and she just handed us the notebook with attitude not saying anything , at least mention "please write your name on the list etc" but she didn't, she just walked away. I didn't let that bother me and continued to wait to be seated. We got seated within 10-15 mins which is great for a Sunday. Our waitress was ok, we ordered our food and I kid you not our order was out within 10 mins or less (which was impressive) but the problem was the orders were wrong twice, we had our plates sent back and by the time we got it back the food was cold. I'm sure plenty of people don't want cold eggs and french toast when eating out. And my home potatoes were so mushy they were not good at all, no flavor. Over all this place was really overrated and we were very disappointed. Won't be going there again. You can save your money and make yourself a better...
