First of all, all of the suites at this hotel are apparently independently owned and therefore each suite is a little different from the others. This review is based on our experience in an upper level Beach-facing suite, number 154. The suite itself is charming and modestly decorated with outdated furnishings and decor, which we didn't mind at all. It has a huuuuuge picture window facing the beach with a small part of the window that opens to let in the sound of the ocean and a nice little breeze. It also has a kitchenette (with basic pots and pans, dishes, and cutlery, plus stove, fridge, and microwave), dinette, and sitting area. We loved that the location was on the slower end of town. It's definitely right ON the beach, just grab your chair and towel and walk right down to the water. The beach down here is much less busy than the northern end and even on perfect sunny days there are only a few beachgoers and you get plenty of your own space. We LOVED the unexpectedly soft sand and very gentle slope of the beach that made it awesome for wading and very family friendly. The hotel is also located right across the street from a happy, yummy little cafe so you can spend lazy days on end right on the beach without driving anywhere. For shopping and additional dining options you drive north into town. There is plenty of parking, plus grassy areas and picnic tables and even a couple of play areas for kids. We saw lots of little kids here and the place seems very family friendly. There's also a pool but I didn't see anyone use it. Now the bad: the plumbing smells like clams. We kept the plugs in all the drains and it kept the smell down to a minimum, but was still a little annoying. The fridge and the microwave also smelled like clams. There is also no AC, which I'm sure isn't an issue most of the time but a couple of the nights we were here in August got a little stifling. The whole place has a charming old timey feel but is actually a little outdated for reals. For example, there is one step where we would always trip on our way up to the room because it's at a downward slope that doesn't match the other steps. Also the wifi is open with no security whatsoever so we didn't use it. Overall, we the view from our window made the small annoyances absolutely worth it. We would stay here again!

Where to start? We stayed in room 139 which is important because most of the rooms are individually owned. You may have a fine experience in other rooms. 139 is poorly managed. The moldy shower was delaminated from the wall by about 1/2”! (See pic) Pretty sure that’s a code violation. Also, after about 2 minutes it turns from nice and warm to scalding hot without notice. Happened both times we used it and almost burned us. Also, the handles feel like they are barely hanging on. The couch has a broken leg that we had to prop up. The end table had 2 legs with bolts missing so if you bump it it gets wonky. The room had an odor. The carpet felt dirty. The wall lights by the bed have hard to reach on/off switches. The walls are so thin you could hear the neighbors clearly talking. Which means they heard us too! The plastic shelving looks like a rack from the garage. We complained twice about all this but the manager said sorry, they are mostly individually owned so we couldn’t switch rooms, but he would ask them to give us a small refund. I’m holding my breath. The restaurant across the street appeared to have good food but it all tasted expired. (But the bar up the street had a great shrimp cocktail!)

Room 145 and 159 are the best rooms in my opinion. Some of the other rooms are small with no view , but If you pay a little extra then it's 100% worth it!! We absolutely loved our stay here. We were in 159 which is cute and cozy. A family member stayed in 145 which is insanely nice and big!! The pool is warm , the views are great. You are in walking distance from the city but far away enough from the crowds. You can walk down to the beach and there is a cute coffee house/restaurant right across the street. We loved it so much we booked an extra night. The staff was all super nice too, especially the couple running the place. It's such a little gem you just have to book a room with a view. We've stayed here before in the past with an ocean view on the bottom floor and we could hear the TV next door but I had no issues this last trip.

Where to begin- when we arrived, we went to the front office and was given a code. When we got to the unit, that code didn’t work so she had to remote open the unit and send us a new code. When we got in, it was humid to the point where everything felt damp nd had a mildew smell. With our group size, we needed to use the pull out bed in the sofa and it was disgusting with visible stains. There was no bedding or pillows for the pull out bed and none were ever brought to us even after we requested pillows from the front desk. We ended up putting the sofa cushions under the pullout mattress so we didn’t feel the bars and I almost went to sleep in my car as that probably would have been more comfortable. The bathroom was visibly dirty in the tub with stains, so bring shower shoes. The kitchen cabinets were sticky and visibly dirty as well. Thankfully I did get a partial refund because it was a horrible nights stay. No one slept because even the regular beds made noise with every motion and we could hear the people above us. The only redeeming quality was that the location was wonderful with an easy walk to the beach. Overall, do not waste your time. I booked on Airbnb for almost $400 for 1 night which is a joke for how much of a dump (unit 141) was....
