Every time we go to seaside, we stop into the seafood market and get things we spend an average of between 50 and $150 each time we go today I went in and the girl behind the counter seem to have a little chip on her shoulder she wasn’t a happy camper I ordered 3/4 of a pound of the pickled prawns a half pound crab meat cocktail and a half a pound of salmon jerky. She seems like she was having a bad day and even though it’s a retail establishment using my credit card I tipped her five dollars and left when I got to the hotel. I realized my crab cocktail was going to Cartel at all. It was just crab meat so I went back just before they were closing and I asked if she remembered me and she looked at me with a funny look on her face, and just said what do I need explain the situation that I ordered a crab cocktail and she says I didn’t charge you the extra dollar 50 for the sauce so I just tray charged you for the meat so she offered to show me three dollars worth of sauce I said no and left … businesses have to understand that no matter what kind of business you have. The only thing you have to sell is Service because there’s another company down the street doing exactly the same thing she had a horrible attitude she wasn’t happy to be there and she definitely wasn’t happy to be assisting customers and they even have a sign on the wall talking about prices may vary in the seasonal and prices may also depend on the customers attitude. The food is fabulous but with the horrible service and bad atmosphere, I will never step foot in their...
Read moreThis is the kind of place that just doesnt exist any more. The restaurant is actually attached to the fresh fish market next door and it's right on the river. My two brothers and I came specifically for the halibut fish and chips. Take my advice, get the 5 piece, because it's too delicious to stop at three pieces. The waffle cut fries are nothing to write home about, I really wish they would put some kind of house made seasoning on them, because I'm sure they would find a way to be famous for that too . That's just the food.... the customer service is what really sold me. I'll even put up with mediocre food if the service is good enough. This place makes you feel like you're visiting a family friend for dinner. After taking orders, the the waitress came over just to ask where we were from and chat, and make us feel welcome, while asking if we needed any thing. My brother is kind of particular about his fish and chips so the waitress and he gathered the condiments he was looking for. Then, the actual cook came out to talk to us, to see how the food was and just make us feel like guests. He told us how he makes everything from hand, never frozen. He's very clearly passionate about what he does. Do yourself a favor, HAVE...
Read moreIf you only get seafood from one place on your visit to Seaside and the PNW then make it Bell Buoy. The crab at the restaurant is better than any I've ever had.
Their dungeness crab has meat sweeter than has it any right being and is so incredibly light and fluffy you'll wonder how it's even possible. We shared a 2lb crab, which was packed perfectly cut in half, between the two of us and found it to be the perfect amount to enjoy picking together. I'm not even sure where to begin on the fried cod and halibut so I'll just say this: order it. There will be zero regrets.
Their store, which is right next door, is also a must visit. Pick up any of their smoked or jerkied fish, get some juicy pre-picked crab meat, or lox spread that you may just end up eating with a spoon instead of on your bagel like you planned; your day will be brighter and more delicious for it. The staff behind both the store and restaurant are great. Always friendly and happy to chat; you may even get some bird facts from the resident bird nerd!
We've been twice now on our short visit and honestly may visit once more before we leave.
This place is a gem. Local, sustainable, family-owned. Give them...
