My friend and I stayed here during our trip around the Olympic Peninsula and it was everything we needed!
My only negative/constructive comment is about check-in. The day before, we called the front desk to let them know that the following day, we may be checking in late due to ferry schedules from Canada. The gentleman at the front desk appreciated the call and said the front desk would be open until 10/11 pm (I cannot remember which) and that he would be there when we checked in. The day we were coming back from Victoria, B.C. on the ferry, he actually called to see if we thought we would be late, but we let him know that the ferry had just arrived in Port Angeles. Again, he said he would be there, but when we arrived the office was dark and the closed sign was on the door. Thankfully, I called him and he had left our room key outside in a hidden location; had we not called, however, I'm not sure what would have happened.
The location was perfect for us on the way from Port Angeles to Port Townsend and would be good for the North/East part of Olympic (approximately 20ish minutes away from the ONP visitor's center), but wouldn't be good for the beach side of things (Cape Flattery, Shi Shi, Rialto, HOH rainforest - Forks is closer for those, just a recommendation after just being there!)
We only stayed here for the night to sleep and got up early the next day to leave which it was fine for; the bed was comfortable, the air conditioner worked, and the room was clean, but I cannot comment...
Read moreWe had an extremely bad experience here that almost ruined our trip. We booked a two-bedroom suite a month in advance and even received a confirmation. But when we arrived late on Labor Day weekend after a long day of travel, the staff told us they had no record of our reservation. On one of the busiest weekends of the year, everything else in the area was completely sold out, so we were basically stranded.
Instead of apologizing and taking responsibility, they blamed Booking.com for “not downloading the reservation,” and even suggested it was our fault for not calling ahead to double-check.
The “solution” they offered was a huge downgrade. Our group of four (two couples) had to squeeze into a one-bedroom unit instead of the two-bedroom suite we had reserved. Two of us ended up sleeping on the floor. After a long day of travel, this was incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable.
To make things worse, the property refused to compensate us. We had to chase Booking.com customer service ourselves and only then got a partial refund. But that refund barely covered the difference between what we paid for and what we got, it didn’t even begin to address the stress and disappointment of the whole situation.
The town itself was fine, and the staff at least tried to seem accommodating, but this doesn’t change the fact that our booking was mishandled and our holiday weekend was thrown into chaos. Easily the worst booking experience...
